Week of Jan 19 Pregnancy Check In

Is it too early to get us started? I keep waking up at 3:30 am with Ryan kicking like mad. There's no pain, but now I can lay my flat hand across my belly and Ryan is kicking in front of my fingers and past my wrist. Even my husband said that it felt like a lot. It lasted over 30 minutes. I went back to bed, but now I'm super tired after sleeping for 2.5 more hours. I'm not feeling so sick so this week is going to be all about light weight workouts. I actually want to train clients and it feels good.

Anyone have this stroller (not the color I want)? It's crazy expensive, but it's German quality and I love it and am seriously considering it as my sister is giving me so much stuff that all I really need to buy is a stroller.

I have a doctor's appt tomorrow (the new doctor--yeah!!) so maybe I'll get to have another ultrasound. I hope to tour the hospital as well and see the birthing tub, balls, ladders, and all different types of birthing contraptions. I'm blessed to have the opportunity to give birth in Germany as they are so progressive and open.

Off to workout!

Good morning! Couldn't sleep much last night. Again. I wish I could take it easy and nap, but DS wants to play now and I have to work this afternoon at the golf course. There'll be golfers, but not superbusy. Wonder if I could curl up in the window....

Laura, the hospital sounds so interesting. I think it's the ladder part that makes me curious. hahaha

Jen, didn't you move some furniture around recently? hehehe It feels better. I think it was from kicking/moving heavy boxes with my legs. I went to kick a box across the room last night and it hurt. Ah...gotta love these loose ligaments. Not. = )

Okay...off to play. DS is making up a game that looks like field hockey. Maybe this will count as exercise.

pics for almost 25 weeks

Hi all,

Feeling great today. Got to train some clients and that was a blast!! Here are some photos that my DH took after my Cathe workout this morning. I'll keep you posted on the doctor appointment tomorrow.

You look great! Pretty soon you will pop out more! The first baby always hides pretty good. And when they come out, you can't believe all that was inside of you!

About the sleep, I tried taking 1 benedryl at night (when I need it) and boy does it help. I heard it is safe. I was struggling to sleep. I am 32 weeks and one day today! Pretty soon!

Hello ladies,

Jen- I got a graco travel system too.. but I got the stylus in a black/green color. I went ahead and got it cause the site I wanted to buy from was going out of stock and they have free s/h and good reviews. I think yours is the quattro? doing a google on the name you gave brought up the quattro stroller system.

Laura - I haven't looked into that particular stroller... I wanted to get a jogger type stroller but found that most of them you really aren't supposed to actually jog/run with. I don't like them calling it a jogger then, that seems deceptive. I was shocked. so I went with a regular stroller but I do plan to get a jogger off of craigslist or something later. The heavy duty joggers tend to be really huge and I'd leave it in the garage. If your just looking at it to be an everyday stroller its probably great. I always read a ton of reviews on things before buying. I was looking at some fancy ones (well not the scarey pricey stuff I can't afford it) but I was liking a brand called Mia Moda but even they had some negative reviews. It took me forever to settle on one and I guess I just decided on good ole graco. They make pretty good stuff. I don't mind if it doesn't fold up to fit in the glove compartment (lol sarcasm there hehe) cause I drive an SUV and I like to have a big basket underneath, a good cupholder etc and room for the baby to be able to use it for a loooong time. We used the heck out of our last graco stroller and I got it used. I may get a cheap little umbrella stroller for the occasions I need something lite. They are so inexpensive. But anyway... not to be long winded. Just saying do some reading of reviews etc to pick what you want. What works for me may not work for you. I was looking at some really pricey ones though out of curiosity and was shocked to see people have some really negative comments about them after spending all that $$.
Goodluck at the new dr's. update us with how it goes.

Tana - Hope you get to rest some.

Clarissa - Haven't seen you much in the checkin.. although I knew you were expecting from other threads. I'm kinda jealous of those ahead of me. I wanna have the baby now. haha. but I am trying to enjoy it... probably our last one. and I should enjoy my sleep while I have it. ha ;) I'm 26 weeks on tuesday. hope to see you around some before your little one is here.

I actually didn't really know about "check ins" until Laura mentioned it. I thought I needed a formal invitation or something!

I hope to go a little early with this baby. And seriously, I think I will. In fact, although I am due 3/14, I am telling my clients that I want to "wrap it up" on 2/28 for the final sessions. I am refunding any $$ necessary at this point to them. I just feel as though I may not make it. Not feeling so perfect this pregnancy as I was in the last 2.

Clarissa

Wow, Laura, you are so tiny for almost 25 weeks! I just reached the 26 week mark and am HUGE compared to you! I've been trying to workout consistently every day (as much as I can) throughout this whole pregnancy and so far I am doing much better than I did with my first pregnancy! Here's to hoping I can stay on track!

Clarissa - no I don't think that people have to be invited... esp being this checkin changes so much. People have their babies and others become pregnant. I'm not sure how I even joined. I think I just started posting. I've invited a few ppl I knew were pregnant. I figured most regular Cathe posters knew about it though so sorry if you felt left out/ignored. Your more than welcome to join! For one thing I wouldn't know if anyone was expecting unless they said so.

JanJan -your where I'm at and I also have a pretty big belly. I guess people just carry differently.

I am carrying SUPER low. I am having a boy. Anyone else this low? I have a lot of pelvic aching. Funny, but the hardest thing for me is actually just getting out of bed or off the couch. It feels like nails are being dug into my pelvis and hip flexors. Do you think it is b/c it is my 3rd?

Hi everyone! Hi Clarissa! Hi JanJan!

Clarissa, I'm due about the same time as you (3/10, but have a c-section scheduled 3/4). I'm expecting my 2nd (a girl) and I feel like I'm carrying higher this time. I'm definitely bigger and will be heavier with this one by the time it's delivered.

I actually worked out today. Woohoo! I just did the upper body portion of BodyMax2. Wasn't long at all, but knew I'd be on my feet at work so I didn't want to push it with legs or cardio. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight. Thanks for the suggestion of Benadryl, Clarissa. I'll have to check to see if we have that. I think it was on my list of approved meds.

oops...supper's ready...dh made spaghetti!
Tana

Hello Clarissa, JanJan.

How is everyone tonight? Clarissa and Laura, it is amazing that you still workout like you do.... it is wonderful... Sometimes, I miss it and worry that I will not get back to where I was before I started fertility treatments. But I am going to give it my best effort after the baby.

I am already thinking about what I need to do after I deliver.

Tana--- I hope that you got some rest today.

Hi Jen, Hi Jess.....

Today was another peaceful day. DH put the baby's crib together last night and I had to remember how to put the bummper on. First, I put the bed sheet, then realized that I forgot to put the dust ruffle on, then I had to start all over. Then I put the bumper on backwards. I had tied all the ties and was pulling them off when DH came in and noticed I was getting frustrated. He finished up for me and I felt bad because it's not like this is my first child. It is just that everything seems so new. I don't even remember using bumpers years ago.

I thought that it would take DH about 2 days to put the crib together, it took him about 30 min.

Anyway... today was pretty much football day.... we are just sitting around watching football.

Well... good night Ladies

Wow! Very active check in today! Welcome Clarissa and JanJan.
Sorry i'm so late checking in today, i've had an extremely busy day.

I woke up and did Amy Bento's in the ring. It was a great workout. I did the whole thing, its about 77 mins long I think. And guess what? I didnt have to take my sneakers off this time. Yay! For once my feet were not aching.

After that i did a huge load of laundry and i had to shower, wash my dog, take her out and get ready for my shower that the church ladies threw for me

I got a TON of gifts, i was very suprised and touched. Oh, the cake was huge, very cute and retro and i had the biggest slice ever with gobs of frosting. Luckily i worked out today! Thats pretty much i've all i've had to eat today with the exception of eggs after my workout :( Its already 730, i'm sure i'll get something in my system too.

MY DH Is working and when i returned from the shower he wasnt home, so he didnt get to see all the goodies i got. i'll bore him with that tomorrow. I got a TON of clothing, bibs, burp clothes. Smoe ladies hand knitted some baby blankets too. It must have taken them a long time. I also got some stuffed animals, a childs book about the Lord and other miscellaneous baby things. I have way too much clothing for this child, but they are all so adorable. I have to go thru my massive piles of presents and my things ive purchased already, in addtiion to some hand me downs. I might pass along a couple items to another girl i know who is expecting a baby girl shorrtly after me. I have so many bibs and burp clothes and receiving blankets. I think I can pass some of those along.

I have one more shower next weekend too! I'm looking forwad to it. Opneing gifts is tiring tho! Its hard work! :) :) :)

I still have some big items on the registry. I dont expect anyone to get me those though.

JEss - yes its a quattro travel system i have from Graco. Its the Catalina pattern. I Like it, its very gender nuetral, rides nice (well, pre baby anyway!) and folds down easily.

Skyy - yay on getting the crib all set up! I bet it looks great. YOu should post a pic. Lol on the bumpers. Good thing DH was there to help you out :)

Tana - good job on the workout. Mmm spaghetti - have some for me!

Hi Laura! I have never heard of the stroller you mentioned either. I really like the one i have , the Graco, as mentioned above. It comes with a car seat too so i thought it was economical. Good luck deciding! :)

Well, better get to this mound of baby stuff and make sure tomorrows dinner isnt burning in the oven. Then maybe i can even feed myself today, and watch Housewives!

Jen -yay for the great shower ;)
In the Ring is a good one. I'll have to do that one soon. Glad your feet didn't swell up!

Tana -lucky your DH will cook. mine can only do asian ramin noodle bowl things and I don't eat those. He won't lift a finger in the kitchen except to eat all our snack foods. ha. Good on the workout. I only did the 30 kickboxing from 4DS. I got home late last night so thought I'd squeeze that in. I didn't realize my legs were still a tad sore from my last w/o till I started jumping around. oh well. I tuffed it out since I knew I'd be done soon.

Skyy -glad you got the crib all set up. take some pics!

Hi Jess. I did nt post yet today becuase its busy at work (typical Monday) plus i felt like id be answering my own post since i was the last one to post and noone else checked in this morning :)

Good job on the workout even if you are sore. Thats the beauty of 4DS. they are nice and short. I like the bootcamp one the best. I dont really use the otehrs too much except for the weight sections, they get used quite often.

NO workout for me tonite or tomorrow since DH is off. But thats ok i miss him and did not see much of him this weekend. I'll have to show him all the baby stuff later tonite when i get home.

The baby is quiet today but she just started jerking around. I'm having tea so maybe thats waking her up . Im going to be 36 weeks on wednesday! Yikes. I have an ultrasound scheduled for Friday. I dont know how much i will be able to see of her since she is a lot bigger now. My last one was in November. I Cant beleive she is almost here!!!

I still have to pack my hopsital bags though :(

Oh, i think you can bring an ipod. you'll have to ask the hospital tho to know for sure. I did not think of that. Im bringing my husband lol. Im scared, i dont know what to expect...

Jen - I'm still sitting on my rear this morning lol. I got the kids busy with work though. I'm looking up mp3s to download.
Anyway. I think I brought some music to the labor of my first son. So long ago I can't believe I don't know for sure. but it wasn't a military hospital. I just remember with my last one staring at the clock like forever. Watching how long my contractions were and knowing when the break would come in between. I think it'd be more relaxing to be listening to music instead of watching every contraction on the clock. ugh!
My lil guy sometimes doesn't move for the longest time it seems then finally I feel him bumping or rolling around a bit. I thought I'd feel much more from comparing to my last pregnancies. I know I have an anterior placenta though so maybe thats part of it? or maybe in my mind I'm comparing to a later stage in pregnancy. I'll ask the midwife if thats ok. I guess it is. sigh.
Goodluck bag packing. I like to be so prepared I'll probably bring a small suitcase lol. You'll be ok!! hugs.

Ryan isn't so active today. However, when I went for my u/s s/he was jumping a little. The doctor couldn't see too much as s/he was facing away and the head was very low in my pelvic area. Is that strange? It was so funny because the doctor and nurse looked at me and said, "You're not very big." However, when I laid down for the u/s they both raised their eyebrows and had a strange look on their faces. The nurse said, "Oh, there it is" and smiled at me. I guess it looks like I have a small volleyball sticking out of my belly. Ryan is 800 grams, which is 1.75 pounds. Considering that my weight was 52 kilos (just over 114 lbs), that's pretty good. The doctor said that it's expected that I haven't gained a ton and I'm "hiding" the baby as I'm a little person, I come from little people, and my husband is a small person as well. Whatever that means....as long as the baby is healthy. The u/s was great as I even got to see the four chambers of the heart. LOVE that!

The hospital is awesome! They have a birthing tub (or labor tub if you don't want to give birth it in), a pulley system to alliviate any problems in the lower back, a birthing stool like they have in India to go to the toilet, stability balls, etc. All of the walls were painted a pastel yellow/orange/pinkish color and had very dim lighting. The entire ward isn't even as big as our entire house, which is great! I asked if I could bring music and the midwife (they have seven on staff) said, "Sure, but if you want to use our yoga or classical music, you're welcome to it." I couldn't believe it. Way more progressive and open than what I've heard about in the States. I can walk around on the terrace as much as I want (I guess in the summer it's really nice to do that). Plus, there's an emergency operating room in case there is anything wrong with the baby. And the absolute BEST part??? It's withing five minutes walking from my house!!! I'm not kidding. My husband and I walked to the hospital to time it. Wow! I feel really blessed and lucky.

Okay, that's it for me. Thanks for "listening." Ryan just kickboxed me to tell you all "Hi." :D

Hi Laura!
Glad you go to see the heart in the ultrasound. Thats really neat isnt it? I think anytime i get an ultrasound is just amazing. I keep all the pictures. Hard to believe the first picture now - she looks like a little cashew nut and now she looks like a human baby! Well, the last time she did anyway. I cant wait to get one last peak at her this friday.

When they showed me the heart and chambers, they were able to put part of the screen in different colors so you could really see the blood pumping. Its really amazing to me. Enjoy them.

Some of those birth contraptions sound scary to me!! LOL :)

Jess music sounds like a good idea, you never know how long the baby will take to make his/her grand entrance! This is all new to me :) And oh, i wouldnt worry about the positioning too much if your docotr isnt worried. If you have questions just keep calling their office so they can put your mind at ease

I still et worried too when the baby doesnt move much. Yesterday i barely felt her at all. Today she was active a little while ago, but all is quiet again. I cant really figure out her pattern!

ok its 1230 and i havent eaten yet today. i think its lunch time!

Laura -glad your appt went so well. thats great they have so much for you. I'd like to try a few things like the birthing tub or laboring on a ball etc.. but they don't usually have that at military hospitals. I haven't got to see the L&D area yet at my hospital here. I try to sit up more than lay back though. I definetly want to be in the hospital since the blood issue I have and just in case. My labors (so far) usually start to where I have alot of difficulty walking and by the time I get there they are coming hard and fast so I can't really do too much anyway.
I'm surprized you haven't accidentally found out the sex yet with all those ultrasounds! ha. I guess they are being careful not to go there for you?
I thought you looked kinda "small" to use your word in your photos.
I have a couple that are good friends of ours and both are REALLY small/petite. Their baby was born full term at only 5 lbs something. It was a girl. They live in the last city I was at though so I didn't see her pregnant. I don't know how much she weighed though originally.
Is the name Ryan a nickname till the baby comes or will that be his/her name when its born? Just curious cause some people use a nickname till the baby comes then name it.

Jen - Even if it only takes him a couple hours I'd still like something to help me be more comfortable if I can. But I know every labor/delivery is different. My DH isn't much help during labor at all. I'd like to have a doula or something but don't have the money for it. They'd be there to rub your back or encourage you etc. I think that helps alot. Have you taken that birthing class you were mentioning? Maybe you should if your really nervous.
I wish I could have another U/S. but oh well. Atleast I saw him and know he's ok etc.
