Wedding Rant!!

For the person who wished they weren't going out to dinner after the wedding, were they offering to cook?

HaHa!

Have a glorious day - YOUR WAY!

Oh families are soooo FUN!!! I think your wedding sounds incredible, and that you and your DF seem to be incredibly generous loving people who want everyone to feel included. How WONDERFUL of you to rent a house so that everyone can be with you on your special night. WOW!

I agree with everyone who says to point out the hotels on the island (if they book now they MIGHT get a room!). Also take people say others are complaining about with a grain of salt - chances are a comment is made in passing, and someone picks up on it and thinks "you should know."

My dad lives on Emerald Isle - the Southern most island of the Outer Banks. It's gorgeous. My sister got married there and she does have the most incredible photos. Enjoy it.

If they don't like the bed and the sand, I'd tell them they are more than welcome to have a comfy cot on the beach, which will give you and new DH an extra bed to "honeymoon" in. Actually, I'd probably call them an ungrateful pain in the @&& and give them a big F you and uninvite them. But I'm a wee bit tempermental that way.

Nan:

"a wee bit temperamental", hilarious! You sound just like me!!

Seriously though, as everyone has said, your plans sound fabulous, now just go ahead and enjoy them. Arm yourself with staunchly loyal girlfriends and groom at your side and they can mow down anyone who dares approach to complain!

Weddings are notorious for bringing out 2000 people all with opinions of their own about matters which are not up for discussion. It seems to go with the territory... but you can still have a dream worthy day with loving, loyal people at your side who ponly care about your happiness.

Oh, and stand in the greeting line with paper bags to hand out .......
love that bag over the head idea for bitchin' matrons!!

Your wedding sounds absolutely sublime. I would love to come to a wedding like this. Just ignore those ungreatful people-some people just have to gripe about something. Maybe you could just tell everyone to keep their complaints to themselves so at least you don't have to hear about it.

Have a wonderful wedding day! (and be sure to post the details;-) )

Reading your post I was reminded of that scene in Christmas Vacation when the doorbell rings like a death toll, Clark answers the door, and the relatives come charging in and immediately start complaining and whining about everything. :) I do think it is the nature of the beast.

However, IA with everyone...your plans sound lovely -- and VERY generous! So you are under no obligation to listen to the kvetching or feel pressured to please everyone else. Deep breaths. You don't need to take on any added stress.

Hope your day is wonderful and everything YOU imagine it will be. :)
