Wedding gift etiquette question

Hi all, I missed a girlfriends wedding this past March and I am seeing her this weekend. Not a terribly close friend in my inner circle but a really great girl nonetheless. It was a destination wedding and I could not go. I normally give a generous monitary gift when I go to a wedding but what do I do if I didn't go. Since the wedding was so long ago the registry only has a few items over 150.00 so thats out.

Couple different opinions on this since I didn't go I was told to maybe give no more than $30-$50. I guess that thinking is because they didn't have to feed me, LOL. I am confused! and only 2 days to figure this out. Should I give a gift certificate to the store? If so how much???

Thanks in advance!!!!

What about a gift card to a restaurant? We always love those kind of giftcards :)

My mom always said your gift should "pay for the plate" but since you're not eating, I think a gift card to a restaurant that would pay for a nice dinner for two is a great idea, or a gift card from the registry's store for the same $$ would be more than appropriate.

JMHO, which I seem to have a lot of these days, LOL!

Restaraunt gift certificates are awesome - $30 is always a good number if your not positive or $40 if its super nice restaraunt, but that will hack the cost of going out in half at least or pay for it all depending on where its too - - - -

I was always told you pay for the plate and 25.00 per person invited.
If i am not going i send 50.00.
Family i always give more , but it all depends..
I say cash.Everyone likes money. I know when i got married. We were already living together. I really didn't need house stuff.

I would limit it to 50, personally.
