She came to us all the way from South Carolina! She's so sweet... and loves sneakers and stuffed animal snow leopards.

Hooray for your family AND your beautiful new dog!! What's her name?

My daughter and I watched In Her Shoes last night, and there was a nice bonus feature on the dog used in the movie, how they chose to find a shelter dog, hoping to encourage shelter/rescue adoption. It made me wish I was looking for a new dog companion!

Thanks for sharing!

Congratulations! You did a wonderful thing using a rescue to get your new baby. We have a Beagle from SOS Beagle Rescue and she is awesome!!! Enjoy your new furbaby!:)

What a precious new addition. How old? name? Can you tell me all the details we would possibly be interested in this. If you would like to email me privately ([email protected]). Thanks so much

Her name is Midnight, and she's about a year old. We used petfinder.com to look at all of the shelter/rescue dogs out there, and found her at NY Pet Rescue out of Larchmont, NY (We live in Rye). I would hightly recommend this organization. They're extremely thorough and really care about finding good homes for their animals.

What a gorgeous dog!! What kind is it? From the pics, the cutie looks like an Akita. (I have two).

I am such an animal lover. I love seeing these types of happy endings!

Congratulations!!! You are wonderful for doing this. She looks very sweet. I bet she's so happy to be in a wonderful home. I love it when people choose shelters/rescues instead of buying puppies. There are sooooooooooo many animals who need homes. :(

Congratulations on your beautiful new family member, & thank you from all of us who bang our heads against brick walls trying to find homes for these sweet babies.
Off subject, I know, but just had to add that my cat Elizabeth has been missing for 10 days but I found her just this morning.

Congratulations! :) Enjoy your new dog. Our 4 dogs are all rescued. We started rescuing dogs after we lost our old gray gal' back in 1999. Our experience has been very rewarding. We have rescued 6 to date.

Ooooooh...beautiful dog and really beautiful girls!

Thanks for sharing. I remember the first abused dog, a beagle, our family adopted. She was such a dear and enriched our lives beyond belief.

Now I have to get some more pets.:)

She is cute! Congratulation's:D

And I have to ask...how did your daughter break her arm?

She dislocated and fractured her elbow doing gymnastics! I posted about that, too, cuz she competes, and I was (am) so nervous about her resuming the sport. But it's her passion, so....

Oh!!! I can so relate! My son broke his elbow this year during basketball. The doctor went on and on about how it's nearly impossible to break your elbow but there we were. He broke the end off of the upper bone. It has been a bear dealing with this injury. He's had to do physical therapy because the arm wouldn't straighten once it was healed. He didn't need surgery fortunately as the bone chips were not large enough to cause problems.

I hope your daughter heals quickly and without problems. I did gymnastic's in my younger days so I can understand her love for the sport. :)

What a beautiful baby you rescued!! Both of my dogs were death row dogs and they have turned out to be the loves of our lives!!

Enjoy your new family member.:)

What a fun and gorgeous new member of your family!!!! Congratulations!!!

And Ruth, that is lovely that your cat came back!!!! You must have been terrified for those 10 days...
