Waxing

A comment made by Laurie Mac in another thread got me wondering. Does anyone here get eyebrows/upper lip waxed? I hate tweezing and can never get my brows looking nice, and I'm developing these fine, very blonde hairs on my upper lip. Just wondering how well it works and what everyone's experience is?

Thanks:)

I wax my eybrows, lega, under arms and some time my bikini line. I Love it. I would recommend taking some tylenol before hand to help with pain control if this is your first time. You can also get a numbing crean from your doctor also if the pain is to much. Just make sure you find a person who will take their time with your eyebrows...you don't want too thin or uneven eybrows.

Good Luck:)

Shelly,

I get my eyebrows (and bikini line) waxed. You can't beat it if you can find a waxer who doesn't hurt you too much, lol. :)

Seriously, your best bet is to get someone to shape your eyebrows the first time, then you just have to maintain the shape. I would ask around... some of them do a very poor job. I've had the best luck in higher-end salons.

I've never done my lip as I'm not too hairy, so I can't comment on that, but I always feel bad for women who do those really bad home bleach jobs and end up with a yellow mustache!

I agree, the worst think is to have someone do a botch job on your eyebrows. Once this woman did mine sothey were so thin and the arched so high that I looked surprised all the dang time. x(

I have mine done by my hair dresser once a month, but do the in-between maintaince work myself. She has a secret weapon...you know thoes Surprise Parties...(the lingerie parties)...well she uses their anal ease cream to deaden the area before waxing. I didn't even ask her how she discovered that tip! But it works well.

I've had my bikini line waxed lots of times, and I don't find it painful at all. There's a tanning salon near my office that has an aesthetics studio in it, and I think that the aesthetician specializes in eyebrows, so maybe I'll give her a try:)

I get my eyebrows done occasionally. I would agree with everyone and make sure you get someone who will take time and do it correctly. You may pay a little more but it is worth it. You can keep them up yourself after you have the shape together.

as far as any other area, it hurts but only for a moment (unless you have someone who doesn't know what they are doing), but it is worth it! I would recommend it.

I wax my own eyebrows and use tweezers to "clean it up" when needed. It only takes me a few minutes. I use the wax strips that are ready to go. Just cut 'em, rub 'em and stick 'em! :) I don't bother going to have it done at a salon as it's the only thing I wax. It doesn't bother me at all as far as pain goes...

I used to strictly tweeze because I hated dealing with melting wax, etc but once I discovered these wax strips I was sold! Plus the fact that to tweeze only you have to do it CONSTANTLY or else it will take you FOREVER!

Hey Shelley!

Hope your vacation was wonderful. This is so weird....I JUST stopped by a nail salon to have my sasquatch eyebrows waxed yesterday. I love having it done. I find it relaxing in a weird way - something about the warm wax. The rrrrriiiipppp part - not so relaxing, but it doesn't hurt.

I'm planning to do my own bikini line this week....yikes. We'll see how it goes. The last time I tried a home job it was a) a huge mess, and b) I had these lovely blood blisters from tearing the strip off. I was very attractive in my swimsuit lemme tell ya. Had to wear shorts over it the until they faded.

The things we do for beauty!

Not to mention reproduction! What do men have to go thru? I better not get me started.....:*

Hi Shelley-

I've had bikini, underarms, above the lip and eyebrows waxed. I thought the bikini was most painful for me ...

I have pretty full eyebrows and the wax makes a big difference! For me it is so much easier than plucking! I pluck in between to maintain. I found a place here to go to so I'm looking forward to getting my brow slimmed out a bit!

Good luck!

Cath :)

I am ashamed to say that I don't keep up with my waxing. I will get them waxed and then go longer than I should. I have such thick eyebrows that when I have them waxed it hurts like the dickens! I guess I get caught up in my life and put off doing it. And the lady ask do I want to have my upper lip waxed and I tell her no way!! I don't have a mustache, just a slight shadow.

I am due for another waxing. I am going to feel the pain!!

Just follow the instructions to a T and you will do fine. I prefer plucking my eyebrows because I can't stand the way someone looks when they are due for a waxing. You have to allow some hair to grow out so the wax can grab onto it & those nubs bother me. I went to Dillards one day for some makeup & the cosmetic girl had some nubs growing & I couldn't focus on anything else, they were too distracting.

I did wax my upper lip, but that by far is the most painful place to me. Go figure. I did laser treatment on it but still have 3 more sessions to go.

I get a facial each month that includes lip and eyebrow waxing. I also get a little electrolysis--but I don't think it works.

I don't know if previous posters have mentioned this or not, but this is the best wax ever, if you want to do it yourself.

I don't wax, but I use one of those little trimmers (an Emjoi facial trimmer) on the "mustache" area. Works well, and you don't have to wait unti the hair is a certain length.

I have my brows waxed by a place I really love. Then I tweeze for maintenance it between. I agree you have to make sure you find someone reputable b/c I, too, have had my brows made to look really fuuunnnnkkkkaaaay......and it takes so long to grow in.
