warning about diving

I just want to let all of you know about a diving accident my husband had last summer to hopefully keep someone from hurting themselves like he. My husband who is very fit (and a nice guy) too dove off the high dive at the community pool last summer and as he hit the water, he dislocated his shoulder. Please be careful when you go off the high dive (and low too). He had gone off that thing many times in the past, but for some reason, this time he did something different which caused the injury. He was home for three months (he does stucco) suffering (good thing Blockbuster introuced their unlimited rentals!). He will not be where he was for another five months (one year of recovery, we were lucky he does not need surgery--not yet, at least). Thanks for reading!

Wow, I am so sorry to hear about your DH! Thanks for sharing this caution. I don't have to worry about it as I won't be diving off any boards! Tell him we hope he is back in top form SOON!

When I went through lifeguard training the most sobering class was the "drowning spinal victim". They die if you do nothing, they may die if you touch them but no matter what they won't walk again.
