Hey mogambo! I had to laugh with your post :7 and I'm with you. I am definitely not a beginner and I think Interval Max is tough for me sometimes. I don't think it's a good tape for a beginner stepper either because you have to be somewhat familiar with the choreography and the names of the moves. But when I started stepping back in the 90's my first tape was Step Reebok's The Video with Gin Miller that was the tape that came with my Reebok step. I don't know if it's still available somewhere, but it is a great tape for beginners. It has an instructional portion at the end of the tape where people that are not familiar with stepping can learn form pointers and all the moves that they are going to see when they do the video(oh!! and it looks really cool!!!). Kathy Smith has a video called Step Workout that has that same approach. It has an instructional portion at the end too, but this tape has a longer toning segment. Reebok's the video has toning, but it's a short section. Anyway I used Kathy's tape last November while recovering from surgery and it worked for me back then, but now it seems boring. I'd try to find Reebok's tape instead and then start with Cathe's hehe!
