want to start stepping

I have been interested in stepping for a while. I don't need to lose any weight but my doctor suggested exercise so I can tone up some more. I'd like to look a little less skinny. I was wondering which videos would be good for a beginner.

Hi!

I think that the "How To Get In Shape For Your Wedding" would be a great tape for you to start with. Not only does it have cardio(step), it also has some strength training which would indeed help with building muscle since you are thin. I have been married almost 30 years but still enjoyed starting off with that tape. There are a few clips of Cathe's wedding off & on, but it was fun to be a part of her SPECIAL DAY! Another good beginner tape with just step is "MegaStepBlast". Have fun and WELCOME!

I'd suggest Power Max. It's easy to learn, very challenging and really fun. So is Interval Max, which is REALLY tough

But I think she is saying she is a beginner. If she is a true beginner, Cathe may not be where to start. Maybe she should start with Kathy Smith or Charlene Prickett or something.

Hey mogambo! I had to laugh with your post :7 and I'm with you. I am definitely not a beginner and I think Interval Max is tough for me sometimes. I don't think it's a good tape for a beginner stepper either because you have to be somewhat familiar with the choreography and the names of the moves. But when I started stepping back in the 90's my first tape was Step Reebok's The Video with Gin Miller that was the tape that came with my Reebok step. I don't know if it's still available somewhere, but it is a great tape for beginners. It has an instructional portion at the end of the tape where people that are not familiar with stepping can learn form pointers and all the moves that they are going to see when they do the video(oh!! and it looks really cool!!!). Kathy Smith has a video called Step Workout that has that same approach. It has an instructional portion at the end too, but this tape has a longer toning segment. Reebok's the video has toning, but it's a short section. Anyway I used Kathy's tape last November while recovering from surgery and it worked for me back then, but now it seems boring. I'd try to find Reebok's tape instead and then start with Cathe's hehe!

Silly...every time I scroll thru the subjects of the posts and I see this one, I initially think it says "WHEN" to start stepping. And every time I think "Immediately!" Start stepping right away, you'll love it! Jeanne
