Want to start running

I want to start running, but don't know where it would be best to fit it into my rotation since I can't run for more then 3 to 5 min at a time lol. I really want to keep my 1 hr cardios in my rotation since my goal is fat loss. Would it be OK to run instead of C&W?

Here's my rotation:
1 hr cardio (step)
30 min cardio (step) + PUB
1 hr cardio (KPC)
C&W
1 hr cardio (step)
PLB
rest

Also what's the best way to start?
Is it OK to run in crosstainer shoes?
Anything else I need to know?

Why don't you take one of your step workouts out instead of C&W? I noticed that you have two days of just step.
I have different sneakers for running then I do for do aerobics.I wouldn't bother buying a new pair of shoes until you are sure that you enjoy running.
If I were you( and I am sure I did this in the past) Walk and Run Walk for 1 min and run for 2, or vice versa.Or even longer if you like.Just listen to your body.If you think you can run for 5 straight minutes and then you need a little break take it.Then when you can run for 30 min straight, increase your distance.
Good Luck,I wouldn't worry to much about the hour cardio b/c running is one of the best cardio workouts there are.30-40 min is probably the same as 60 min step.
