Walking question

I feel like such a wimp!!!
Give me any Cathe WO & I can do it - some easier than others . But when I walk as part of my routine I usually have soreness!! Today I did S&H chest & back. Took the dog to the vet & we stopped at a walking trail coming home & walked/jogged for 30 minutes. I can already feel my legs a bit sore. This isn't the first time this has happened to me. What gives? I though I was in better shape than to get sore from a walk!!

Any advice?

I'd like to know the answer to this too. The same thing happens to me! I don't know if it is because my puppy is pulling me(we are working on this) and that is adding to the workout or what. I'd love to hear what everyone has to say.

On longer (30 mins or more) fast walks with my dog, my booty gets sore/tired too. Not painfully so, though. I can do PLB and B&G but I can't walk the dog??? Even hour step/cardio doesn't wear out my tush like that. I don't understand, either. And I walk the dog all the time and its always been that way. Maybe its the way I walk? Running doesn't do it to me. Who knows? Maybe I'm just defective:D

Nan

I'd call it exercise specificity : your body gets more efficient at what you do regularly, so changing the way your body is moving calls on muscles in a different way.

That's why it's so important to cross train.

I love how my legs feel after a long walk :) My normal path takes me about an hour and 45 min.
I always feel it most in my inner thighs, they're really tingly afterwards. Anyone else have this feeling? I'm happy for it since that's where my legs need the most work ;)

I get that tingly feeling too!! I thought it was just me. I get it in my outer thighs which where I have the most fat. So what is that from? Fat cells shrinking, I hope :D

Absoluetly. I can't get my heartrate up with walking like with step/kickboxing etc. I've never been one to be bale to run or jog. I can throw a little in here & there but to much bothers my knees. Should I just throw some walkingin here & there as an extra?
