walking and bike riding

I was wondering if anyone else walks and bike rides for exercise to loose weight, since I am taking some time off from stepping and I walk a few miles in the morning and a few miles in the afternoon and ride a bike for a few miles instead I was wondering if this is an effective way to loose some weight, I am going to try to step once a week and try to work up to two days a week.
Oh yeah I walk and bike ride everyday.

I've been biking and spinning regularly since late winter/early spring to cross-train, work out with DH, and prepare for long-distance cycling. Lately I've been riding 3 times a week, doing one Cathe cardio, and one or two endurance total-body weighted workouts (ME or PH). My weight is (slowly) dropping, but I also am trying to loose by cutting calories. Also, I keep my cycling as intense as I can while varying my focus (endurance, hill climbing, speed, etc). Since I'm old at Cathe but new at cycling I don't have an answer to your question...I can just share my experience, and I'm finding that cycling kicks my backside both literally and figuratively! But what you're doing surely can't hurt! :)

Hopefully someone will have a more educated and objective answer!
