Cathe, or anybody with experience.

I heard from many people that you will benefit from wearing a Waist Slimmer Belt while working out. I tried that a couple of years ago. I did feel that I will sweat alot in my abdominal area.

My question is, do you believe that it will benefit to wear those belts while doing weight? or any cardio activities.
I heard both sides. One friend said, it wont' help at all.
It's kind of like people wearing a heavy sweater to workout so they can sweat more.

Please advice Cathe or anybody out there.
Thanks -Romina

I am using it during the weight work only for many years to support my back. If I do not use it, I will end up having backache all day.

This is a gimmick. Any weight you would lose is from water loss from sweating and would not be permanent. The minute you drink a glass of water after the workout, you would start gaining it back.

And Babybird, earing a belt for weight training doesn't help your own body get stronger and may actually make your core weaker because it will rely on the belt for support rather than its own musculature(and is only necessary if you are power lifter like in the olympics, who lift massive amounts of weight for one rep). If you feel you need a belt for support, I suggest reducing the amount of weight you use, then building back up. ALso, doing core work like in Cathe's workouts can help strengthen your internal "belt" so you won't need one. (Belts can also be helpful for heavy overhead lifts.)

Kathryn is right. I got suckered into buying one of those when I first start working out and that thing is laying on the side now. I wore it religiously day in and day out and my stomach did not change anymore than it did with exercise. I think the only way to get rid of 'extra stomach' is a little extra cardio and above all else 'clean eating'!

Thanks for all your replies.
I didn't think the belt will help. I was looking for articles online that will talk about it. Did not have any luck, I am guessing companies out there are trying to sell those belts, so they will not write negative articles about them.

-Romina :)
P.S I am working on doing core max three times a week, and eating clean
