Vitamins etc......

Part of eating healthy, and exercising, leads me to ask this question. Does anyone care to share what they do in terms of supplements? I take a daily multi vitamin, along with some extra calcium but I have to admit that I hate this whole subject. It makes me crazy to hear about how if you don't take "food form", or "this" vitamin or "that" vitamin, it will just pass through and you will flush it (literally) away. They can be so costly, and I like the idea of supplements, but not the debate that goes on and on. I want to know if anyone has any good suggestions or thoughts on this subject.

Here is what I take, and I am by no means an expert on the subject: I take 6 flush free niacin a day to make 3 grams for my triglycerides,
I take calcium but what I have read is only take 600 mg at a time because that is all your body can absorb and if you take more it will just flush it out,
I take Chromium Picolate(spelling?) for my triglycerides also supposed to help lower them,
I take flaxseed oil in gelcaps when I remember for PMS
I also take a multvitamin

My triglycerides came down from 769 to 369 on 2 grams of niacin so I upped it to 3 grams to get it to come down more. I cannot take the prescription because it gave me hot flashes that I just could not deal with. The flush free stuff is great and I get it at Vitamin World.

I was taking alot more but when they didn't work on reducing my trig. I cut them out. This is what I currently take daily.

Hope that helps some:)

I take:

multi-vitamin
1 tbsp flax
Vitamin E (I think 400 units)
Calcium citrate (NOT calcium carbonate) 500 mg
Magnesium (NOT oxide but can't remember the last part) 250 mg
Vitamin C
Bilberry
Glucosamine chondroitin/MSM
Potassium 90 mg
Gingko

In addition to my medication for chronic neck pain, sometimes I feel like all I do is eat pills all day!!! My husband was having severe leg cramps so I did some research on vitamins and came up with the above list. He makes a little baggie for each of us every day so I just take what he takes.
