Vitamin D!!!

I found out about 3 months ago that my vitamin D levels were seriously low. For the past two years I've been tested for everything under the sun and treated for lyme disease despite negative results. I ended up at a rhematologist who ran a number of tests and was smart enough to check my D levels. I have a 4 year old son and thought I'd never be able to really play with him again. Some nights I couldn't walk at all and had a lot of swelling. After 2 full months of 50,000 units of D a week I am finally all better. The reason I post this here is because you see so many people and if you ever hear of anyone complain of unexplained musculoskeletal pain please tell them to have their D levels tested. My GP never thought to check. Low D levels can contribute to a number of cancers - including breast and colon - as well as autoimmune diseases like MS and RA. Apparently sunscreens block out 95% of the bodies ability to absorb vitamin D! I am 36, pale, redhead and my best friend got melanoma at 28 so I avoided the sun like the plague! In the past 2 years I have been unable to exercise very much because of my soft bones - ew gross. I am SO excited that I can finally start using your DVD's again. I'll be starting from scratch but I am so grateful to be starting again!

Congratulations!! I am glad that you were able to find out what was FINALLY wrong. And thank goodness correctable. Have fun working out with Cathe again!!:)

I've heard that this has been an issue more and more. I'm a nursery school teacher, and this warning of sorts is going around to professionals working with children. So, glad you figured it out.

Wow, I bet you're so relieved! My mom was also diagnosed with seriously low vitamin D levels after months of unexplained back pain. Like you, she took megadoses of D for a couple of months and the pain went away. Good information, thank you for passing it along!

Hi Patti! Thank you for sharing this valuable information.

I'm so glad to hear that you were finally able to find out what was wrong. It is frightening to feel this way with no answers and especially to have small children at home counting on you for everything from tying their shoes to playing hide and seek.

Welcome back and please listen to your body every step of the way. Looking forward to your strong recovery! Take Care!
