Vacuum recommendations

I need recommendations for a handheld vacuum. I am tired of getting out the canister vacuum for small jobs. I have a DirtDevil stick vacuum that I don't use because it is so loud and doesn't pick up and I have a Swiffer vac that I love but need something easy to use on the carpet. Thanks.
