Vacations in the middle of 90-day undulating rotation

Hi,
I am wondering what advice Cathe or anyone might have regarding how to accommodate two separate vacations that fall in the midst of the 90-day rotation? Try to substitute similar workouts for what is planned for that week, then pick up where I left off upon my return? Or take a week "off"? Thanks for any input!

Hi Cruncholi,

See page 5 in the XTrain Workout Guide. It addresses your question. See paragraph two under the heading "Undulating Versus Linear Periodization: The Bottom Line".

The workout guide is filled with excellent information. It looks like SNM took some of the more popular questions on the Forums and addressed them in addition to offering insight into the science of the workouts. It's a good read in addition to being an excellent workout guide with the rotations, etc.

Good Luck!

I'd leave Xtrain at home...it will be waiting for you. :). Personally, I'd do fun fitness things you can't do at home instead, whether it's a walk through a quaint old town, swimming in the ocean, hiking in the mountains or whatever the locale allows.

Whatever you do, have a blast!

I often choose not to workout during my vacations. It's enough just getting everyone ready and out the door. Trying to work in a workout just becomes a chore I'd rather not deal with.

I'm going on a 2 week vacation in the middle of the Xtrain 90 rotation, too. I plan to take Cathe's Travel Fit and Slide N Glide plus use the hotels gyms. But I'm also not going to beat myself up if I don't work out as much as I normally do. We are very active on vacations. Last year we went to NYC for 3 days and I wore my bodybugg while we were there and my daughter wore her fitbit--we walked 45 miles. So I didn't feel too guilty for not hitting the hotel gym those 3 days.

And when I get back, I'm just going to pick up with Xtrain where I left off.
