Urgh! Still upset about lack of cardio

I can't help but be a little depressed. I"ve been a faithful Cathe follower since about 2000, never missing a presale.

I am a true cardio junkie and there seems to be NOTHING cardio about her new series. In the past she has at least mixed up the series. Now it's all strength. Urgh!

I feel like I"m losing a friend. :( Am I all alone?

Melanie,

You are so not alone!! I'm a cardio addict, too. I'm really bummed about the lack of cardio in this series so far. I am aware that you can add cardio to STS, but I was hoping there would be a new non-weight focused workout or two to look forward to... :(

I'm sure Cathe is faaar from abandoning creating more incredible cardio work outs but that's not all it's about girls. Lifting junkies need love too!;):7

I am UBER excited about STS...OMG I can't even tell you!!!!}( :D }(

While I'm not preordering STS at this time, I'm not that upset about not having new cardio from Cathe. I've discovered many other instructors that I may even enjoy more than Cathe for cardio such as Amy Bento, Kelly Coffey-Meyer, some CIA's and I will be preordering Amy's two newest (which seem to be a mix of kickbox and hi/lo and some med ball cardio). There are many other instructors that I've disovered in the last year or so that put out tough and creative cardio routines. Maybe you can use this as a time to shop around and disover some other instructors!

I'm a cardio junkie too and would love to see Cathe give us something new. And I'm sure she will!

Although I don't plan to get STS, I think it sounds like a fantastic program, and I think it's really cool that Cathe has the opportunity and the ability to bring such advanced training to home weight lifters.

Hang in there, all you cardio lovers. You know she'd never desert us!

Ditto here too. I find myself with loads of options for weight work, but not enough choices for cardio. I've been pulling out all of the older Cathe cardio tapes, as everything else has become so repetitive. I was really hoping for Imax 4 or another KPC. I just rented a few Amy Bento cardios, but they're just not Cathe. I'm desperate for new cardio material.

It's not a personal affront to cardio fans, it's an attempt to address anyone serious, at least for the time being, about lifting. It's wonderful for those of us who like the concept of P90X but not the delivery (Tony Horton...blech!).

I know it is something I am thrilled about and looking forward to. I'll also look forward to Cathe's next cardio heavy series because like many people here I strive for a well rounded fitness program. Now please, stop the whining and go amuse yourself with a few IMAX workouts! ;-)

Hear hear!! :D

Hey, I'm a cardio junkie too, but I'm not complaining about the new series. There's plenty of cardio out there to occupy my time. I think Cathe's new series is going to be kick-@ss and awesome.... for someone else! It may not be for me, but you know what? That's okay! :)

Well, the new batch of CIAs are on presale - it gave me an excuse to order them! :)

And Melanie, just an aside, I purchased a VHS several years ago from an eBay sale of yours. I mentioned in the comments section of the payment that it was my first Cathe plunge and I remember you saying I'll be hooked or something to that effect.

You were right!

Hey everyone,

Don't forget that Cathe *has* promised us more cardio workouts this year!! We just have to wait until the STS series is done, and then we'll get new cardio workouts to play with!

Like Wendy, I am BEYOND excited about these workouts, but I'm also really looking forward to some new cardio later this year! Cathe won't let us down!!

I am a cardio-junkie, too. Love step workouts most of all.

I never thought I'd like this STS series, but I'm planning to pre-order after the recent slew of information. But what really got me was I ordered 4DS for the 2 step workouts alone. Imagine my surprise and elation when I realized I like the weight work and the other 2 cardios. I made a lot of strength gains (nowhere to go but up! :p ) during my 4 week 4DS rotation and now I'm really looking forward to STS and the customized workout cards to tell me exactly which weight to use for which exercise.

I really hope Cathe makes a new pure step cardio this year, too, but I'm very happy that I'll be in for a good weight workout. I was thinking about buying Gym Styles and some other weight workouts I don't own, but I think I'll hold off as STS should be a good library of strength and endurance workouts for all the muscle groups. So when I compare the pre-sale cost to what I was going to spend to get more weight workouts, I'm actually saving money! :7

Hi Melanie,

I'm going to follow your train of thought and share some advice with you.

Be a true friend. Be happy for her and wish her well. You can still share time together without demanding all of her attention. In time, you will undoubtedly have new experiences to share.

Remember, Cathe has a cardio project in the planning stages. I am looking forward to both productions. I don't want any more circuits, but when those come around I'll remember that Cathe is meeting the needs of her base.

You're not losing a friend, you are allowing her to spread her wings,

:) ,

I know there will be cardio coming up (and I have other cardio to keep me busy until then) so it's not a concern for me.

I'd rather have Cathe concentrate her efforts this time out on the weight workouts.

But I must say, I'm impatiently awaiting the boxing/kickboxing/'extreme fighting' workouts that are next in line after the STS weight series.

I'm in total awe that Cathe is even putting out such a huge DVD bundle so close to the 4-Day Split. She's amazing. I mean, she's working SO hard to put out something for everyone. With 4-Day Split, she offered cardio, low impact and high impact AND weights, and now she's working on this amazing weight workout for those who really want to define their bodies. I commend her for her unbelievable work ethic. If this DVD bundle doesn't suit your needs, just order from her LONG list of DVDs that do. That's the wonderful thing about Cathe --there is SO MUCH to choose from already -- regardless of your preference.

PS If it's cardio you want, try BodyMax 2 if you don't already have it. I just got it and it's kicking my butt (which needed kicking!)!

I think I read a few weeks ago (I can't remember for sure!) where this question was presented to Cathe and SNM/Cathe said something about Cathe filming some cardio workouts after this to compliment the STS workouts. Please don't take this as fact, I might have only dreamed this thinking about the new workouts! But for some reason this sticks in my mind. I'm sure since this series is all weight work, she will definitely focus on cardio the next time around (hopefully a Rhythmic Step 2??!!). She's so good about trying to please everyone so I betcha we're going to get high doses of cardio next round!

Oh my gosh... I can totally relate to this. I was so pumped about P90X but just found myself bored to tears with his delivery/style. I thought (and still think) it was a great workout but I literally dreaded it. I get excited about Cathe's workouts.

Just got 4DS for Christmas so I'm going to work on that for a while until I get money in the budget for STS. 4DS was my first real Cathe purchase - I have a few on the DVR from fit tv that I want to buy the "real" workouts for so I can get the full thing.

I am a hooked Cathe-ite though. Former firmer turned Cathe!
