I added some photos of the lovely village my DH put up on Tuesday!!

Now all we need is a tree... :D

omg! Your village looks so NICE! Awesome! My village never looks that nice, can you DH come over and do mine too? lol

Amy, that is so cool! Wow, you really have a lot of pieces. I've always wanted one of those villages. I like the one that depicts the historic homes of Colonial Williamsburg. Which village do you have-Dept 56? I love them all, really. Using the outdoor lights to mimic stars over your village was a stroke of genius!

Amy,

It looks great! You have a good size collection!:+ I have about 20 of the Dicken's villages. I have a ledge in our great room, and I put them up there, it is a little high, but my 3 year old would have them in a million pieces if he could get his grubby hands on them! It has electric outlets, and i have a remote, so I can light them up! I just love the villages! It makes everything so Christmasyyyy! Your hubby did an awesome job!

Ann Marie:+ :+

Very nice, Amy!:) I like the idea of using the lights on the bushes outside the window and making them look like stars.

I'll pass all these compliments on to DH. :D He's so artistic it cracks me up!! I'm really not any more, nor was I ever any good at something like this- but I'm really good at being able to ENJOY it!! }(

They're from Michaels- LeMax. We always wanted a village, then one year DH came home and said, "we're getting a village. There are so many things we want that we can't have, but this we CAN have and so we should start it."

Now the cats, who we couldn't have before where we lived, have come and destroyed the village!!! :p They love to be Georgezilla and Graciezilla over the poor villagers. Chomp chomp on the villagers, trees, cars, etc. Sigh. This is what happens when dreams meet each other I guess! :p

DH gets more and more elaborate each year. Like I said, I love supporting him in his artistic abilities!!! ;) Too bad it leaves less room for all my weights in the living room...

Amy,

That's why we don't put up a big Christmas tree. One year we tried to and those crazy cats wouldn't even let us put the lights on. They'd be pulling the lights off just as fast as we put them on--LOL!

That is beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing. They lights on the bushes do look like stars! What a great idea!

That is SO cool! I have a little village that I add on to each year. I wait until really close to or right after Christmas and buy the items a year ahead of time when the stores are practically giving them away.

Michael's has a sale in August when they first put them out. Everything is gone gone gone by Christmas!

I want to put the tree up now... !!! I'm ready!!! The cats haven't really ever cared about the tree, thankfully. They care more about the ribbons on the packages!!! The first year they tried to climb it, but we shut that down with spray bottles pretty quick. Then about 2 years ago I think Gracie drank the water and threw up. I think it was Gracie. Now they both pretty much stay away. We don't put any breakable ornaments up, really, so if they play with them while we're asleep we don't care. They smell it, then they're off doing other things. Pretty lucky, huh?

Way more village people have been chomped than tree things. Everything any villager has carried has been dismantled and only when we discover the piece can we reattach with crazy glue. LOL. Trees are often knocked over, carried in their mouths to a different location, etc. LOL it cracks me up to see one of them with a tree or person in their mouth!!! :D
