Update on skin care products

Some time ago, I mentioned here that I would report on my results with the Dr. Denese products. Well, I used the firming facial pads and hydroshield face serum religiously for several weeks, and ultimately didn't see much change.

I then tried Olay Regenerist daily serum, and the results were quite noticeable to me. My skin looks decidedly younger. I know many others here have mentioned this, but the Olay Regenerist stuff really is remarkable.

Of course, I ran out and bought the eye serum and the microdermabrasion kit too. I've only used the kit once so far, and haven't noticed any difference yet, but the instructions say to use it twice per week for best results. I'll report further on the microdermabrasion kit for those who are interested (it's pricey), but so far the daily serum seems to be the key to this line, and is worth every penny and then some.

Also, the scent of the daily serum is so delicious, it's aromatherapy for me. I don't generally understand why fragrance is added to face products, but in this case, I'm glad they added it. Is anyone else addicted to that fragrance? Does anyone have any comments to add to my report? Feel free.

I just bought at Costco Olay Definity which is a "highly defined anti-aging" It says on the package that it is a deep penetrating foaming UV moisturizer. It gives your face a "glow" and I really like it. Any information on eye serums?
Ellen

Ellen, the Regenerist eye serum seems pretty good too, but for me it's more difficult to notice any difference in the eye area.

Nancy, this topic is so timely. I lurk here more than I post, but I had read your skin care post and wondered what you thought of the Dr. Denese products. I also tried her line and found NO difference in my skin, whatsoever.
I have tried most of the skin care lines out there, to include some of the very expensive ones and have had limited, if any results. Most recently, I tried Environ, which my dermatologist "pushes." Of course, it's pricey and I saw no visable improvement.
Like you, I have been using Olay products for the last couple of months and I'm thrilled with the results. These are the products I am using: Olay Total Effects intensive restoration treatment(absolutely fabulous), regererist eye lifting serum, Definity correcting protective lotion w/spf l5, and Definity deep penetrating foam moisturizer(at night). I also use the microdermabrasion, but only about every other week. I love these products and what could be better than skin care you can get off the grocery store shelf, that works!
BTW~ Have you heard of of Dr. Gregory Bays Brown and his ReVive, Peau Magnifique skin care? He is going to be at our Neiman Marcus, here in Honolulu today. A months supply of his skin care is $1,500.

;) Sarah

"I love these products and what could be better than skin care you can get off the grocery store shelf, that works!"

I know, Sarah! :D :D Is the Definity product an Olay product? I could really use an spf moisturizer.

Dr. Brown can keep his skin care stuff. I'm sticking with Olay. ;)

Nancy, yes, the Definity is an Olay product. As I mentioned, I use the Definity (anti-aging) lotion with spf 15, for day and the Definity foam moisturizer at night. Prior to moisturizer, (day and night),I apply Total Effects restoration treatment. My skin looks glowing and dewy and at almost 48 yrs.old, that's a good thing ;-)

It's interesting, Sarah, that you're having great results with the Total Effects line and I'm having great results with the Regenerist line. I'm going to go see what the differences are.

And the regenerist line was recommended by Consumer Reports for taking care of fine wrinkles, the first time that CR did a study, although truth be told, it is something like a 10% improvement.

Nancy, I checked out the Olay.com site, to see the info on all the different lines within the brand. I also signed up for a free sample of Regenerist DermaPods... love a freebee!

Sarah;-)

Nancy,

Is the Olay Regenerist daily serum like a moisturizer that you can use under makeup or do you use this separately, then moisterize etc? Is it white cream type or clear? I have a lot of Olay products, used Total Effects for a long time, then some Regenerist, now I am back to Total Effects Skin Perfecting Cream as my moisturizer...

Thanks for posting this info!

Deb

Hi Deb,
I don't use the Regenerist serum as a moisturizer under make-up. I use it at night only, on clean skin, by itself.

The instructions say "Use once or twice daily alone, under moisturizer or under make-up", so I guess you can use it any way you want. It's a clear gel, and I'm not sure that make-up would go on smoothly on top of it. In any event, I don't want to mix it with anything, as I want to make sure to get the full benefit.

Currently, I use a Mac moisturizer with a Prescriptives sunblock on top of it, but I think I'm going to order the Definity spf moisturizer recommended by Sarah for use during the day under make-up after my other stuff runs out.

I use no particular product regularly with one exception. I use Estee Lauder's Night Repair every night.

I am not a big spender on cosmetics from department stores, and I usually stock up on Night Repair when Estee Lauder has a Gift With Purchase Promotion.

I think the key to good skin is to not tan or smoke. Both are hell on your skin. I also think yo-yo dieting affects skin in a negative way - especially on mature women like me.

I have alabaster Irish skin, so if I tanned, I am positive I would have developed skin cancer by now.

I don't think I've worn makeup to bed except for perhaps twice in my entire life.

I don't even wear makeup every day.

Some days I only cleanse and moisturize at night and that's it.

But I always use SPF and lip gloss or balm when outdoors and I always Cleanse and use Night Repair and some eye serum or cream and moisturizer for my skin and lips before going to bed.

I am too lazy to go look right now, but I think I am using Cover Girl makeup some Olay product in it. Whatever it is, it does make my skin glow.

I am glad to read what others are doing for their skin care....I learn so much here!

Thanks so much for posting the update Nancy! I remember that thread. I was using Green Cream and liked it ok, but ran out. I haven't got the funds to reorder, so I have been using nothing on my skin. I am definitely going to try the Olay. I remember reading (I think on the RealAge website) that drugstore brands were as good as the expensive ones. Marnie:)
