I did search the forum and saw the older Ramping post, but the last one was over 2 months ago. Has anyone else been Ramping that has an opinion? I can't do step aerobics right now due to knee problem but I'm worried as to whether Ramping would get my HR up enough. Currently I swim or elliptical at a high intensity for 1 hour 4 times per week and either hike, mountain bike, or do KPC for 1-2 hours on a 5th day (depends on weather), so I think I'm in pretty good cardio condition. Ramping just "looks" kind of easy, but I know looks can be deceiving.
Venus, I don't know anything about ramping but just wanted to congratulate you on your weight loss and continued healthy lifestyle! I read your story and you are an inspiration! Good luck on your continuing healthy lifestyle journey!
IMHO, the cardio intensity of ramping is much less than step (when using a ramp only workout,I can't get my heart rate up anywhere near where I can get it with a step or a flor workout such as KPC) but probably is better for your knees. You also need to stablize more to keep your balance on the ramp. Lunges on the ramp also work your muscle differently than when performed on the floor or a step. If you go this route make certain you get a good ramp. The one from the Firm is very unstable, slides on the floor etc. and they are designing a new ramp.Hope this helps.
Thank you Jo and Cathy! I think I'll stick to what I'm doing for now and maybe by winter, when I need more indoor activities, there will be some advanced ramping out.
