Update on my knee - I mean my heart

So I had my pre-admission testing last Friday for my arthroscopic surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. I got a call from my doctor's nurse today. She said my EKG was abnormal and could I come into the office for a repeat. I just got back from that appointment.

My repeat EKG also showed abnormalities. The doctor thinks because I can exercise without any symptoms that I would be fine under anesthesia during surgery, BUT, he has to cover his butt, understandably. Now I have to have an echo/stress test. The problem with that is that I can't run on a treadmill, because I have a torn meniscus in my knee. They don't have a stationary bike. The solution to that dilemma seems to be to chemically induce a stress on my heart. That's not as easy as it seems either, because I have asthma and they have to be careful what drugs they use. Sigh. Don't ever get old. I'm so discouraged and worried....

Oh Robin! Sending love and ((hugs)) to you! How friggin scary. I have been to a heart doctor for my anxiety because I thought it was something else, hopefully, these "abnormalities" are something minor that can be controlled with meds or, its nothing at all!!! Good grief, wouldn't you have symptoms? You are the exercise queen and in fab shape.
Ask if you can test somewhere else where they do have a bike? I didn't know you had asthma?
I don't know, just sending comforting thoughts to you.:)

Ditto on what everyone else has said. I will be thinking bout you, crossing fingers and toes and saying tons and tons of prayers! You are one of the strongest (in all sense of the word) women I "know"! ((((((((((ROBIN)))))))))

{{{{{ROBIN}}}}}

It's just crazy that they don't have another type of cardio machine for stress tests. Maybe you should ask if there's another facility that can accommodate you with a stationary bike or an elliptical or something.

Also, you're cardioally (I borrowed this word from you :p ) advanced so there's a good chance that whatever is going on probably isn't a big deal.

If you end up having to go with the chemically induced test, I'm sure they can chemically manage the asthma, too. You'll be in a totally controlled environment, and as long as they have all the information up front they can be prepared for whatever comes up.

{{{{{ROBIN}}}}} please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Robin ..

bless your heart!! {{{{ HUGS }}}}} {{{ POSITIVE VIBES }}}} .. the works coming your way!

I have a stationary bike you could use!! LOL .. find a way to get it there it's yours!;)

Maybe like someone else posted you can go to another facility ?? or hospital ..???

Good luck .. and maybe a solution will find itself b-4 having to do the chemical induced thing .. that does not sound fun at all!!

Will be thinking positive and sending good positive healing vibes your way!:D

Robin,

I am so sorry that you have bad news from your second EKG. I wouldn't worry until you need to. It sounds like you will find out very soon what is abnormal. Please don't spend your week worrying. K? K. It may be something very minor. Huggies to you!

Robin - I really really hope everything works out. I'll keep you in my prayers. You are such a joy...

Clarissa

Oh, what a pain Robin!!! I'm so sorry this isn't going smoothly for you. :( You are not OLD though! This could happen to anyone. I'm keeping you in my prayers!!! (((HUGS)))

What a pain in the patootie! As if you don't have enough to worry about! Soon you'll be able to look back on all this and breathe a sigh of relief that you're passed it all! BTW, I agree that age is not a major factor in this. There are a ton of younger folk with knee, heart and asthma issues! Unfortunatley for you they all happened at once!
