This question is for the ladies. I've notice when I wake up in the morning (I wake up at 4:45am)I'm having this puffiness under my eyes. I dont know what to do help!!! Any suggestions??? The puffiness goes away somewhat through out the day but still noticable. They are also like black/blue color under my eye. I normally get between 7-8 hrs of sleep a night and more on the weekends.

I have the same problem, but no black/blue color. I find that if I workout or am able to walk/run in the cold, I tear up and it really goes away. Sometimes hemroid cream works well--put on at night and in the morning.

I tried hem cream once and it was awful. Irritated my eyes like crazy. I've heard putting spoons in ice water and then holding them over your eyes for a bit helps. Google it...I'm sure you'll find tons of remedies.

Oh I use Prep H all the time--Donna, maybe you put it too close to your eyes? Anyway, it does work. I usually put it on when I wake up, before I work out. An hour later, some improvement.

I also have a couple of those gel eye masks I keep in the freezer. They help too, but not as well as the Prep H.

Nice Tread!;)

I went to Dillard’s yesterday to buy Borghese I like there line, But, they stopped selling it, WTH when did they do that:rolleyes: So, I ended up buying for $75 with tax $80 freaking bucks Chanel eye cream, first time user:rolleyes: The rep swears by it, okay keeping my receipt, LOL if my puffy doesn’t clear after 2 weeks back it goes.

Any who, I boil two tea bags and after it gets room temp I put in frig and every morning when I get up I place on my eyes as I watch the news for about 5 minutes and it helps minimize the puffiness

And, to, depending on how you sleep at night has ALL to do with puffiness under eyes. Just my .02 cents.

Yes, eat LESS salt and don't put this on your eye. Prep H (or the generic) only goes around your eyes.

I have eye gel masks too and they work wonders!

Dark circles (the "black or blue color") are often heredity (thanks mom!), but can be worse if you have sinus congestion.

The puffiness is fluid retention.

You could reduce the puffiness by sleeping at an incline position (some people have beds that incline like hospital beds), which would keep the fluids from pooling there. Cucumber slices or tea bags (brewed but cooled) held over the eye area can also help reduce the puffiness.

I get puffiness around my eyes if I sleep on my stomach. If I sleep on my side or back, no problems. HTH!

Hi,

I saw this thread and thought I'd weigh in on this calling upong my years as a cosmetologist/hairstylist. I can say that the most effective treatments are not the expensive ones in little jars at the cosmetic counters. Basically, keep it simple. I do use generic hemorroid cream around eyes ONLY (just the under eye area) professional makeup artists have been doing this forever even on hollywood celebrities. That's one solution. Here's another, get baby teething rings that are meant to be chilled or frozen and put that on the puffy under eye area for a couple of minutes. Running a spoon under cool tap water under cool to the touch and hold under eyes for a few minutes, this works too. Another, make a cup of chamomile tea using two tea bags, let them steep and cool, or if in a hurry place a ice cube or two in the cup of tea to cool faster. Then remove the excess moisture by squeezing tea bags and close eyes and lie down for a few minutes placing tea bags 1 on each eye. This will help, if your sensitive to the hemmroid creams this could be a solution. Another is cutting fresh cucumber slices and placing them on closed lids for a few minutes. I would opt for any of these over spending a fortune for cream in a cute jar with a designer name. I myself have used these and they all work. The truth is you need something to bring down the puffiness or tissue swelling which is why the cold stuff works and why hemmoroid creams work.

I've observed that trying NOT to use a super heavy eye cream at night, I find that those tend to add too much moisture to the undereye area and makes me puffy in the morning. I've found some great alternates for night time eye cream without the puffiness. For those that really like the designer eye creams for this and don't mind the cost, go for it! Use what works for you.

I don't know if this helps but I thought I'd offer my opinion.;)

Take care,

Nora

Hi,

I forgot to mention for the dark circles, if they are blueish or black types. I'd recommended using a pink concealer or concealer pencil. What this does is brighten the eye area which will bounce light as opposed to highlight the dark circles. It will open your eyes up and you'll look more refreshed. If your dark circles are less dark just a little bit I'd recommend using a yellow type concealer.

Okay, I hope this info was helpful. ;)

Take care,

Nora

They are also a result of eating too much sugar. They call them Sugar Shiners. Especially noticeable in little kids who eat a lot of sugar.

Undereye circles are my albatross.

Some days if I don't get enough sleep, I look like someone gave me two black eyes.

And no concealer seems to help.

I have had some results with Avon's Clinical products though.

I'm in the same boat: a combo of genetics, sinus congestion (as mentioned above) and pale complexion (which makes the darkness look even darker by comparison).

I noticed the other day that a colleague of mine has dark circles about the same darkness as mine, but she never covers them up. She has a darker complexion than I do, and they don't show quite as much (but I personally couldn't stand not at least covering them somewhat).

I've always got to laugh when I watch QVC or HSN and they demo concealer on someone who has less darkness under their eyes than I do AFTER I've concealed!
