uncontrollable muscle twitching?

I woke up this morning with a highly overactive right tricep muscle. It just keeps twitching, intermittently. It doesn't hurt, it just feels a little weird and looks odd too. I did a workout this morning anyway (Power Hour) and it was fine, not too twitchy (although I did go a bit lighter on the triceps than usual). And in case it matters, yesterday I did a 30-minute run, and the day before was a rest day.

Does anyone have insight for me on what's causing this and what I can do to make it stop?

Thanks!

Mel

No insight Mel! I have the same thing going on right now in my hamstring...Usually my twitches are in my legs. It is irritating! If my tricep was doing it I would think awe look it is showing off !! LOL as I work these babies alot and am always staring in the mirror -squinting to see them! Bump for any info out there on this..

Hi Mel-

Quite often muscle twitches/tics are a sign of fatigue and/or possibly overtraining.

If you haven't gotten enough sleep, and/or worked a bodypart extra hard, you'll get them. I usually get then in my legs too, but you can get them anywhere.

I go through major bouts of insomnia, and I'll get them in my eyelids, which is kind of annoying too.

Once you rest up, most likely they will go away.

Take care, Lynn M.

I get them in my biceps too! Just the other day I was watching my bicep twitch--so freaky! I also get them in my chest muscles right next to my armpit.

I just read a blurb about this in Women's Health. According to them, muscle spasms can be due to an injury, or a deficiency in electrolytes (like magnesium).
