Two weeks in Disney, I need a vacation!

WOW!!!

What a trip for DW and myself, it's our only true extravagance, so we really love to live it up while there, and we did so again this time around.

The first week was the most crowded, as it was, and is, known as New Jersey week, due to the influx from the NJ teachers convention weekend, it seemed as if 75% of Disney guests were from my own Garden State, and all clad in red Phillies apparel..still basking in the World Series afterglow. Temps were in the 80's, perfect for lounging poolside after a swim.

Our second week kicked off with ABC Super Soap Weekend, the final one set for Disney's Hollywood Studios..(formerly MGM)...crowds were thick, and if you think being a male on these forums puts me in the minority, you should have seen me in line with DW waiting for the soap stars...I look at it this way...she gives me sooooo much all the time, the very least I could do was be by her side for the craziness of this weekend...I owe her sooo much more than that, however!!

Temps were in the 60's, crowds very low after Soap Weekend, no waits at all, historically, this is a slow week for Disney as people are gearing up for Thanksgiving week madness.

Although we had a blast, we both agreed a change is in order, so we are looking at cutting the trip from two weeks to one week, and doing a Disney cruise for part of the stay.

There is one more thing I have to add...I never realized how important exercise was to my mood, because I didn't do one thing to elevate my heart rate (with the exception of a couple thrill rides), and I felt really sluggish some of the time. From now on, I will be packing workout gear and hitting the resort health clubs, I found myself easily agitated at times, and I know that exercise relieves those symptoms, I also know my diet wasn't the greatest there, either, as I gorged on pastries big time with breakfast and when the sugar rush burned off, I crashed.

Our favorite meals were the cheeseburgers and sundaes we had at the Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club resort, and our one real fancy meal was at Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge resort..I had the best piece of salmon I have ever had, and DW had an awesome pork chop and smokey portobella soup.

A great trip, to be sure, but it is good to be back to reality, at least for a while...a couple of days of yoga, then it's back to hard core Cathe time for me!

Welcome back Jerry! Glad to hear you had a great time.

Yes, please do!!! I asked several people about the cruise line, nothing but glowing reviews of it!!! We need to add some spice to our Disney experiences!

Jerry,

Your stories make me smile -- I haven't been to Disney World in toooo many years! But, my parents took us (my brothers and our families) on a Disney cruise 3 years ago, and it was fabulous!! Disney just does things right, and the cruise was no exception. It was my first and only cruise, and I'd love to go again. I look at other lines, and then I think, why mess with a proven winner?

Glad you had such a great trip!

[Cab0899 -- have a wonderful time! Fill us in when you get back!]

Welcome back. Glad you had a great time. I'm sure you would have a wonderful time on a Disney Cruise. We did one about 5 years ago and I loved it. I told DH that I would go even without our DD. She was 15/16 at the time and we never saw her anyway. Disney's private island, Castaway Cay was wonderful and I've heard they added a replica of one of the ships from the Pirates of the Carribean movies. Service on the cruise was the best we have ever been treated.

I am waiting to see a pic that rivals the kitchen sink sundae :D Glad you are back safely with more good memories to add to your lifetime bank!

Welcome back, Jerry! Glad you had a great time, but Disney really is a place where you feel like you need a vacation from your vacation.
We did a Disney cruise in '01 and even though we had to detour around a hurricane we still had a terrific time, high seas and all. I had my best meal ever on the cruise -- herb crusted sea bass. Outstanding!! :D:D
Disney really does know how to treat you right, and my husband said he would definitely cruise with them again, even w/o the kids.

Glad to see you back Jerry!

I don't know how you survived 2 weeks in Disney! I love Disney, but that is a working vacation:D The last time we went, we divided our vacation in half. Half the time in Disney, half vegging on the beach. :)

Two weeks...... You do need a rest!!!
