Tweaking CTX?

Cbelle

Cathlete
Has anyone tweaked this series by doubling up the cardio and making it one hr long but keeping hte weight work the same? If so, what were your results?

An interesting idea. I've doubled up on the weight work, but not on the cardio. It might work well to do cardio, then the weight section of the workout, then finish off with the cardio (after the warm-up) and stretch from another workout.

I double up the cardios all the time. I often do CTX All Step followed immediately by POwer Circuit. Another fave combo is 10 10 10 followed by Kickbox, in those orders.

I don't do the muscle conditioning which follows. I need upper body strength, not endurance, so if I double up with the cardios I will do PUB on another day, often after a single CTX cardio.

Results?
Hard to say because I don't follow strict rotations, just my heart and low boredom threshold. But, I will say that it breaks a cardio threshold. It really jacks up my cardio endurance. I really experience feeling FIT on days when I do this. And the other result is that I beam like a Cheshire cat when I am done.

I double up CTX cardios once a week only. I imagine, it is akin to MIC or BOdy Max in the results it would produce.

CLare

I will agree with Clare here. I also double up on CTX cardios and I find that it is harder for me than even IMAX. ESPECIALLY if I do Power Circuit FIRST (which I advise strongly against). For me, this one is by far the toughest one of the lot. I think I do use more weight than Cathe though for the lower body work. Fast weights combined with cardio is by far the hardest thing for my body to do!!! Steady state tough cardio is a breeze in comparison. One day I did CTX PC and CTX Step and Intervals and man, were those intervals getting hard at the end. My poor legs couldn't even get the push off to do the Power 15's!!!!:)

I don't like doing the CTX weight work either. Sometimes I enjoy the Upper Body compilation, but I am not interested in 10 min. weights per body part per week. Usually I combine CTX with heavier weight work such as S&H or, now, PUB or PLB.

Endurance weights seems like such a waste to me!

Good Luck!
