Turbo Tax?

Have any of you guys used Turbo Tax? Have you had any problems with it? My husband is being resistant about switching from having our pseudo-accountant friend do our taxes to me using Turbo Tax... I'm just wondering if there is potential for confusion or major mistakes that are going to cost me thousands of $$$ later!

Any advice?

I've used it for the last three years with no problems, I only had basic deductions mainly from my sales job, but it worked perfect and I got my refund within a week each time. I won't be using it this year because I'm married now and have changed jobs but I would definitely recommend it. It walks you through step by step, very easy to use.

We've used Turbo Tax for at least 5 yrs now. Also, just wanted to suggest to anyone that has State Farm insurance, you can go to their website (you have to use one of your policies to sign in as proof that you are a customer) & then you can use Turbo Tax for free. :)

MC..I tried Turbo Tax a few years ago on a whim to check my tax return. I had used the same lady for a long time as I am self employed and did not think I would be able to do our tax return myself. Well...Turbo Tax found 2 rather large deductions our tax person had missed. Needless to say I started using Turbo Tax and not going to the lady we had previously used. I love Turbo Tax and they also have a Forum for any questions you might have. I feel the program is VERY user friendly and almost anyone could use it...:)

I have used Turbo Tax in the past. For the last two years, I've used www.Taxact.com I like them more because the pages are easier to use and you can just do everything online. I'm sure turbo tax has an online thing too. I got my refund back within two weeks.

I second tax act, too! I used it and it only cost $13 to send both federal & State. The refund was to me within a week....

We've used Tax Cut for the past several years and boy, do they make it easy to do your taxes...I'm sure TurboTax is the same way. It's like a tutorial that takes you through it step by step and includes EVERYTHING!! There is also an error check at the end to fix any problems that you might have missed along the way.

If your hubby is resistant to changing over to the software, why don't you do both this year? Yes, it would cost you about $20-$30 more but this way you could use the software (without submitting the info) and see how the end result compares with your pseudo-accountant friend. But there really isn't chance for confusion with these kinds of software because they walk you through everything.

I've used Turbo Tax & TaxCut in the past. This year I used TaxAct. I liked TaxAct cuz the interface is very simple and it's a lot cheaper. Only problem was the "interview" questions skipped Schedule D, so I had to go back and add that in. Other than that, I thought it was very simple. You could use the software and then compare the results with last year's tax forms, as long as your tax situation hasn't changed much this past year, you should get comparable results. In fact, TaxAct lets you input your numbers from last year to do a comparison at the end. Deb

Thanks for asking this question MC! I think I am going to use Turbo Tax this year. I have always done my by hand, but I feel like I am missing a lot of things. Also, DH and I just bought our first house this year and all that will be new. I'm excited to do it online. How weird is that?
