How does Turbo Jam compare to Cathe? I am looking for a short (under 1 hr)fun, but intense cardio workout to combine w/Cathe weight, KickMax & LowMax workouts...

If you do Turbo Jam, how do you work it into Cathe?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi Rose,

This is my experience with TJ.

Turbo Jam is a 2nd generation KB influenced dance workout.

I tried it but didn't care for it after a few uses. I used it for a cardio day and an abdominal workout. Also, I never received a copy of CPM2 that works all the way through.

Off hand, I don't think that these workouts compare directly with the workouts that you mentioned. Here'e a few things to think about.

You might find the workouts fun; they have a party feel to them. After a while the let's party, oh baby, got annoying to me. It just wasn't something that I could tolerate over and over, especially first thing in the morning. I think it would be different if it wasn't on DVD.

There are form pointers but not enough for a new fusion style.

The cueing is nonexistent.

The form is sloppy and I see a lot of future injury complaints. (I think that Chalene knows her stuff but forgets that she leading a workout.)

I did like the abdominal workout for the standing section.

The music is hip hop/urban/R&B and so is the dance style. Someone correct me if I didn't explain this right.

There is no chapter menu on the DVD but you can FF.

Chalene seems genuine & is having fun. Her chattering is a bit annoying for my taste.

I love the Turbo Jams - they are a fun alternative for a workout and works your abs pretty well. The music is fun and is not too dancy - it is more like club dancing if anything - the music really makes it work well too - I love hip/hop type music and it makes the workout go by very quickly. I am looking forward to getting the two new workouts that I have already ordered.

Hi Anne, I always find you when we have to talk about Turbo Jam. I love my Turbo Jam workouts. I have ordered the new Live workouts. I can't wait to have the new workouts in my hands.

Mariángeles a spanish terminator,TAEBO and Turbo Jam junkie. :)

I love my Turbo Jams too. I agree with you and Mariangeles. I find them fun. I am also waiting for the new ones to get here next week.

To those who haven't tried it yet.....or who want a comparison....
I don't think you can compare them to Cathe as it is like comparing apples to oranges.
;-)
I find them fun, a different approach, and the Ab Jam has some different moves to make me motivated to work the dreaded ab section.
The music is awesome. Chalene spends a lot of time getting the music matched to her moves. She has DJ skills. I believe Chalene is going to increase the intensity on these future workouts as her original Turbo Kicks is very intense (so they tell me).
As far as cueing, there is a instructional video included in the set to teach you the proper form. One isn't to go further until one has the moves down, then you are invited to "the party" , as Chalene says.

When I told my neighbor about TurboJam in September, she came over and worked out with me. Then she invited about 15 other people to come over and do the workout in my workout room. 5 of those people bought the Deluxe Kit and 2 of them keep borrowing my DVDs. So... I guess TJ appeals to some people. Whatever gets you off the couch, right?
:p Now I need to find the new Shox boot NZ and a Juicy skirt....;-) :p

Hi Wanda,

This is so inspirational. It is not often that I hear that home exercisers can inspire others to start a program. I usually hear about how people can't identify with home exercisers. I have read posts from many people who really enjoy TJ. In the long run, they didn't appeal to me but I can be happy for anyone who finds something that they like.

Hi Back at you Mariangeles...

Yes - I know I can always count on you for the Turbo Jam news and reviews... I did CP#1 last night - I just really like these workouts. I am hoping the new ones will be waiting for me tonight, as from the tracking number - they were in my city yesterday.... Cant wait to check them out...

Thank goodness for a variety of workouts, eh? Doing something we like can eventually lead us to something else that we didn't think we would like or couldn't possibly do when we first started. Plus we all have different goals at certain stages of our fitness journey. For one example, TJ doesn't address heavy weight training at this time (doubt it ever will as it doesn't look like this is the focus).

I need it all... I say that because everytime I do a workout, I never feel I accomplished it perfectly with the highest reps, the highest weight, or to the fullest potential as there is always some room for improvement etc., I am known to say: "I need to do this class everyday." Yet, there isn't enough time to do everything, so its a good thing to do what you like and will keep on going.
:) This year is going to be especially challenging for me because not only will I have a time factor, but there are so many new workouts that appeal to me. Each of them offers something different by way of fitness goals.
I guess you can't have too many shoes or too many workouts. LOL
