Tummy Tuckeees - question

Cathlete
I will be having my breast reconstruction in November and had a question for women here who have had a tummy tuck.

The doctor wiill take my tummy fat and will to shape it into a breast and attach it to my chest. There will be no muscle involved. So in a sense, I get a tummy tuck for "free" - ha!

My question is this - what kind of pain are we talking about., in the abdomen, I mean? Plus, how long did it take before you could get back to working out, full steam? How much fitness did you lose?

I'm doing pretty well with my workouts and have lost 20 pounds so far. My eventual goal is 18 more pounds away, but that will hae to wait until I'm healed.

I will be out of commission for about two months, but I imagine I will be able to do some walking again after a months or so. It will probably take longer to get back to riding my horse.

Thanks!

I have no advice or feedback, but I wanted to say, best of luck!! I hope that it goes well for you. (And not to make light of the situation, but if you have to have a breast reconstructed, I can't think of a better prize than getting a flat tummy, too. :)

Hi Susan!

I don't have answers for your questions, but just wanted to let you know I'm sending all sorts of positive energy your way. My sister goes through her reconstructive in January.

Susan, I have a coworker who had lung surgery several years ago and the doctor did a tummy tuck ( I'm not sure why) at the same time. She seemed to have no problem recovering from it. Best wishes.

Is Allure magazine on the stand still? I understand the abdomen can be quite painful and walking upright can be difficult for a long time.

To tell the truth, I'm really kinda scared. And worried.

Susan,

I saw the Allure article too, and agree that the woman featured had great results. It's the most recent issue, so it should be available.

I also think it's completely understandable that you're feeling lots of feelings about your surgery! Hang in there, and I'm sending good vibes and thoughts your way. Keep us posted!
