Tummy Tuck -- Can Someone Give me Detail About Recovery from TT operation??

Hello,
I was hoping someone could educate me about how long I am likely to be "out of commission" if I go ahead and have a tummy tuck? The procedure is to fix severe diastasis (muscle repair) as a result of my pregnancy. I am not overweight and am otherwise strong (5 feet tall, 100 lbs). My husband will be able to take 2 weeks off to help me post-operatively but after that I am on my own w/ my son. Is this doable? Thank you!!!

I have been taking care of my friend who had this done 3 weeks ago. She still has one drainage tube dangling from her side. She also had lipo in the legs and hips. Just this week she has been managing to get around and go up and down the stairs. She still can't stand up straight. Still doesn't drive b/c she is still taking pain pills and muscle relaxers. My friend was not in shape so I feel her recovery is a bit longer than what you may experience. Having your DH home for 2 weeks is a must. You probably won;t be able to lift your son for at least a month. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Tummy Tuck Experience

I had my tummy tuck on July 9th...mine was to repair the muscle separation and remove the loose skin left after three pregnancies. My husband took off two days to drive me back to my post op check and my mom stayed with me until that Sunday (surgery was Wednesday). Monday, I was at home alone with 3 kids. Ages 5, 3, and 1...NO heavy lifting aka my daughter was the hardest part, but I just sat in a chair and let her crawl up into my lap.
I was never in pain, just trying to sit up was the hard part. I had one drainage tube and had it removed 6 days post op. I did have to wear a VERY tight binder for 6 weeks, that was the most uncomfortable part.
I started a very slow walk on that Sunday, to prevent fluid buildup and clots. But my doctor gave me the all clear for full exercise at my 6 week post op check-up.
If you are in great shape now, then I would recommend it. The first two days, with the help of pain medication, are the hardest...
They do recommend you walk slightly hunched to prevent the internal sutures from ripping, I wanted to stand up after day two...but was good and minded the doctor.
I am SO happy now, I don't have an exaggerated muffin top anymore. I can now wear tops that fit! I hope I helped, if you have anymore questions that I didn't answer, please ask!
Best of luck!

Hi, I had a tummy tuck about a 1 1/2 ago. You will need assistance for those first two weeks and it's a good idea to have your mother help out following. You will not be able to stand straight for a little while but with the proper rest and help I'm sure you'll recover just fine. My tummy tuck was also something I wanted to do after having two children. Wish you well.
