Hello, crew. I’m back—both from my week of being puny and from my weekend away with our mission team.
I talked a few days ago about Africa in terms of “Tarzan” and “Lion King.” Another couple of opposing stereotypes that people have about Africa are “poverty stricken third world” and “exotic tropical destination.” Again, both are true, depending on the situation. For the nationals here, “third world” is definitely the predominant reality. Life is hard for most Africans. By far, most of them are subsistence farmers and don’t even make a real salary. They are poor, and sometimes it is very depressing to work here and to see the distressing needs.
Because we are American, we have the means to get to enjoy the “exotic tropical destination” part of Africa, too. We have been to Victoria Falls. We have been to the game park. Our family loves to vacation on the Indian Ocean. And this weekend away with our mission, we were on an island in the middle of the Nile River. Definitely exotic!
I’m thrilled to be back, even after a great weekend. This morning I did KPC. LOVE that workout!
Dani & Ellie-I own Drill Max but have never done it yet. Since my access to new videos is limited, I tend to hold new ones for a special occasion. DM is going to be my reward for completing my half marathon in Feb.
Ellie—Glad that I could help you get back on track with the water drinking. I’m with Robin—you definitely want a nanny, and not a 2nd husband. I mean, why go for a second male when you KNOW that another woman would get so much more done?! (JK.)
Catherine and Robin—I’m jealous of your Cathe GTGs! Glad that you enjoyed.
Catherine—I’ve never met Rhondalyn but have PMed with her a couple times. She does seem like a very sweet lady.
Karin—I would, like Robin, really encourage you to meet fellow Catheites if/when you have a chance. I was nervous about it, but it has made all the difference in how I feel about my fitness journey. It has really blessed me!
Wendy—Have you been sharing more yummy recipes? I need to get some more from you. The food that we can get here is delicious and flavorful, but we are limited in our selection. How many ways can you cook cabbage, carrots, green beans, carrots, pumpkin, and zucchini? Those are the only veggies we can get here on a regular basis. They’re great, but it gets old!!!
By the way, you said you spend lots of calories per day on Coffee Mate. Have you tried the flavored splenda for coffee? I haven’t tried it, and it may not be as good, but I just wondered. I, too, am a big fan of Coffee Mate and was wondering if I could make the switch and save some calories.
OK. This is what happens when I can’t post for 3 days—I do 3 days worth of posts in one!! ☺
