Tuesday PEEP Max

Cathlete
Hello, crew. I’m back—both from my week of being puny and from my weekend away with our mission team.

I talked a few days ago about Africa in terms of “Tarzan” and “Lion King.” Another couple of opposing stereotypes that people have about Africa are “poverty stricken third world” and “exotic tropical destination.” Again, both are true, depending on the situation. For the nationals here, “third world” is definitely the predominant reality. Life is hard for most Africans. By far, most of them are subsistence farmers and don’t even make a real salary. They are poor, and sometimes it is very depressing to work here and to see the distressing needs.

Because we are American, we have the means to get to enjoy the “exotic tropical destination” part of Africa, too. We have been to Victoria Falls. We have been to the game park. Our family loves to vacation on the Indian Ocean. And this weekend away with our mission, we were on an island in the middle of the Nile River. Definitely exotic!

I’m thrilled to be back, even after a great weekend. This morning I did KPC. LOVE that workout!

Dani & Ellie-I own Drill Max but have never done it yet. Since my access to new videos is limited, I tend to hold new ones for a special occasion. DM is going to be my reward for completing my half marathon in Feb.

Ellie—Glad that I could help you get back on track with the water drinking. I’m with Robin—you definitely want a nanny, and not a 2nd husband. I mean, why go for a second male when you KNOW that another woman would get so much more done?! (JK.)

Catherine and Robin—I’m jealous of your Cathe GTGs! Glad that you enjoyed.

Catherine—I’ve never met Rhondalyn but have PMed with her a couple times. She does seem like a very sweet lady.

Karin—I would, like Robin, really encourage you to meet fellow Catheites if/when you have a chance. I was nervous about it, but it has made all the difference in how I feel about my fitness journey. It has really blessed me!

Wendy—Have you been sharing more yummy recipes? I need to get some more from you. The food that we can get here is delicious and flavorful, but we are limited in our selection. How many ways can you cook cabbage, carrots, green beans, carrots, pumpkin, and zucchini? Those are the only veggies we can get here on a regular basis. They’re great, but it gets old!!!

By the way, you said you spend lots of calories per day on Coffee Mate. Have you tried the flavored splenda for coffee? I haven’t tried it, and it may not be as good, but I just wondered. I, too, am a big fan of Coffee Mate and was wondering if I could make the switch and save some calories.

OK. This is what happens when I can’t post for 3 days—I do 3 days worth of posts in one!! ☺

Good Morning PEEPS

Laura- I am still laughing about the woman vs 2nd hubby. Soooooo true. Another man would just make a bigger mess.:D:D Now a nanny could do the dishes and clean up and do laundry and NOT complain endlessly about it!!!

The funny thing is that I can afford a nanny, even a live in, but I really want to raise my boys myself. DH is really a wonderful guy and great father, he is just away a lot for work. So I get thru every day with laughter and fun. And I am very good at laughing at myself!!!!

I really wanted to do a w/o today but DS is a little needy this am. If I can get him off my leg for an hour I can do something.

I hope everyone (who is still talking to me):eek::eek::eek: has a great day. I'll check in later.

Peeps Check-in

Peeps:

Good morning! It is another chilly morning in Texas. Brrr. I did not sleep well again last night and was not feeling energetic this morning, so I listened to my body and relaxed with the band segment of Stretch Max. The 4-Day Split rotation gives me flexibility to take an extra rest day when I need it. I am enjoying more time efficient rotations and workouts these days.

Ellie, I am amazed that you just discovered premixes. You are in for a real treat! The scrambled eggs premix should be called the scrambled legs premix! That was my Thanksgiving workout the year we received that series. Oh my! I love premixes and choose them more often than the full workouts. That is one the ways STS will be shocking. No premixes!

Laura, I received your e-mail. I will let you know when I mail your package. I still need to find the bars! It will be interesting to see how long it takes a package to travel from here to there.

Hugs and waves to Catherine, Dani, JJ, Robin, Vilma, Wendy, and any other Peeps who visit today.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Morning-

How is everyone today? I've got strength training on schedule today but haven't decided which one yet. I should seriously consider doing a rotation so I don't have to worry every morning about what I'm gonna do. I just try to get in 3-4 cardios and 2-3 strengths on alternating days. I'll probably do MM since I haven't done endurance w/o's in awhile.

Laura~ I really enjoy hearing about where you live and what it is like. My in-laws have traveled all over the world but have yet to get to africa. MIL wants to go to the "touristy" part but her DH has no interest.

Ellie~ I'm still talking to you;) Personally, I choose to stay out of controversial threads. Without the facial cues & tones, ones written word can easily be miscontrued and this can often lead to a meltdown. However, I appreciate a good debate and still read with interest. I hope you can get in your workout today.

Heather~ Where are you in Texas? I have a brother who lives in San Antonio. It is also BRRRR here in MN but that is expected. I hope you can find some energy so your day goes well. Take care!

Hello to Robin, Catherine, Wendy, Dani, Karin, Vilma.....et al:D Have a great day!

JJ

Hi everyone. Work is crazy, busy right now. I have to give a presentation on Thurs morning and it is on a new project, so I can't recycle any of my old slides . That means that I have to make all of them from scratch and it is taking for ever. I'm getting a little nervous at this point about getting it done, but hopefully everything will end up ok.

My workouts have been biking and raking. I didn't end up doing a formal workout on Saturday because we raked leaves for 3 hours. I was pooped after that. I wore my HRM and it said I burned 800 calories so I was happy with that.

On Sunday DH and I went on a 30 mile bike ride. It was so beautiful here. Yesterday I took a 30 min walk at lunch time, but nothing else. Like I said this presentation is kicking my butt and I am spending every waking moment on it.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Ok, for all you peeps who agree with Laura about the Nanny, please do not read any further... for all you who are looking for a little something extra to throw across the foot of your bed, to keep you warm, snugglie soft... then BEHOLD!

Please let me know if this photo is in any way offensive and I will remove it!

Have a wonderful day Peeps!!!

Guten Morgen, Peeps! I've got the refill pot brewing...

Last night was a rough one for me. DH has just started a new job last month and finally confided to me that he hates it, feels in over his head, and fears he will be let go during his probationary period because his boss is not happy with the level he's learning the position at. He's just really struggling right now and I just had to encourage him to keep trying because with the economy the way it is, finding a new job in communications might be really hard. And financially, we cannot withstand a layoff. We stayed up talking until 11PM then he went off to take a walk and try to clear his head. He's so depressed and now I'm worried. But the only thing I can do is encourage him to keep trying and start looking for a new job in the meantime to cover his bases. I will just continue to have faith and pray that DH figures out where he needs to be/do in order to be happy.

So, needless to say, it was not a good night's sleep and I woke up at the time I'm supposed to be finishing up my workout. Sigh.

I did get one of my new Cathe DVD's yesterday--High Step Training--and it looks like a lot of fun (despite what looks like endless step-ups, ugh!) I hope to try this tomorrow morning. I did put it in the DVD player to preveiw it and Houdini went WILD! She went up to the TV, began shaking in excitement, and pumped her fist in the air when Cathe & crew started jumping around. It was so cute!!! She watched a whole cycle without getting bored, LOL.

Laura--I have a good recipe for stuffed zucchini if you want it! I also have a chilled Greek green bean recipe that is fresh and tasty, too. Let me know if you wnat them and I'll put the links up for you.

Ellie-I still love you!! :) Did you cook last night? If so, how'd it go?

Heather--It is chilly up here in Dallas, too. :) And I love premixes, too! That's the only way I can do Drill Max without fear of passing out in shock...

JJ--You are in Minnesota? That, believe it or not, is someplace I've always wanted to go. It seems so beautiful and full of trees. And I'm half Swedish/half Norwegian so I've want to explore some of that culture up there, too. Do you guys have Kringle up there? I love that pastry!!! I've actually had some shipped to me from a bakery in Wisconsin, LOL!

Karin--Wow, you've gotten in some great workouts despite the crazy schedule! Good luck on your presentation, let us know how it goes!!

Dani--I laughed outloud at your picture. LOVE IT. Not offended at all, but it takes a lot to offend me...Ha ha! :)

:) Wendy

(((((Wendy))))) - I'm sorry to hear about your rough night last night. I am hoping that everything turns out for the best for you and your family. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Wendy~ I'm sorry about your DH's situation. It must be very difficult for him and I can understand how depressing that must be. Sending lots of good thoughts and prayers that things will work out. {{{hugs}}} to you!

Minnesota is a beautiful place to live even though the winters can get long. Ya sure you betcha, lots of swedes here dontcha know;) Not sure about kringle but theres always lutefisk:confused:

Karin~ 3 hours of raking:confused: Whoa...didn't your arms just want to fall off? Good luck with your presentation. I'm sure you'll do great!

Dani~ Ummmmm....can I get that photo in poster size?;)

Robin & Catherine...where are you guys? Missing you today. Hope all is OK.

JJ

I'm totally procrastinating with my presentation. I just had to report that I ate outside with one of my coworkers today and it is 78 degrees outside. It's beautiful  and I'm stuck in here :(

Off to make more slides...

Karin, can I procrastinate with you? I need to be issuing travel authorizations but instead I'm here...glancing out the window at a beautiful sunny & 65ish degree day!

Thank you so much, Karin & JJ, for all the hugs. I really needed them today!!

JJ--OK, that's it! I'm coming up to visit you in Minnesota!! LOL! :) Kringle is a Danish pastry that is pastry filled with cream or fruit, then topped with another pastry layer and topped with icing. Delicious with coffee, ya? Good thing I don't get it very often or I'd be in serious trouble...or having to do Drill Max 2X a day to keep the weight off!!

:) Wendy

Wendy- this recipe is Wonderful. If I told my mother I made roasted squash spaghetti she would fall over. I am eating it right now. BB in a few minutes to let you know how it goes over with the boys
thanks
ellie

Wendy- the boys loved it. I told them it was a "kids' spaghetti" You must send me some more EASY ones. I am not a cook.
Sorry to hear about DH's job. It's so scary isn't it. Maybe he can look around while he is still at his current job, while trying to think positive thoughts. Any chance he could be reading his boss wrong??? Good Luck

Karin- I'm only a procrastinator when it comes to starting my exercise DVD in the morning. I always say, oh just let me sit down for 5 more minutes etc.
And forget it if it is 78 degrees and sunny. That's a great excuse!!!

JJ- my fathers family was all swedish (hence the confusion with the albino thing in my boys) I would love to visit MN myself. I've heard ot's beautiful.
DH has been there quite a few times. Only problem is getting out of the airport. It's always snowing somewhere!!!

Heather- scrambled eggs in on my schedule for tomorrow. I can't wait to try it. A whole new world has opened with all these premixes.
We had snow flurries in NJ today. And it's cold!!!!

Robin, Catherine and all others, have a great day
ellie
