Tubing?

The tops and the long pants are from Pitbull Clothing (www.pitbullclothing.com). Run an "advanced search" for "Pitbull" and run a search by author name for "Cathe Friedrich" (use the whole name) for a period of the last month for the "Ask Cathe" forum, and you'll find all the threads about the clothes. Cathe was really helpful and very specific and honest in her comments about the tops, some of which she did NOT recommend for fitness wear even though they'd be very cute to wear out and about. She hasn't said where the shorts are from, but they look very much like some Nike Drifit shorts (I think they were called "low rise workout shorts") that she and her crew wore in the Blast series. Those are available in several different colors at www.niketown.com and at www.nikegoddess.com, and I've also seen them at Sports Authority and Niketown here (although they tend to blow out of there REAL fast -- I went back to buy another pair about two days after getting my first pair and they were LONG gone!)
Cathe has said that the tubing was supplied to her and her crew by the Step Company and she wasn't sure what brand it was. Similar tubing is available lots of places online. Here are links to a couple of my favorite online vendors for great service and good prices: www.fitness1st.com and www.fwonline.com. Both have tubing in lots of styles and strengths, as well as handles. My own stuff is made by SPRI and I bought it a couple of years ago at Fitness1st, I think. There are lots of brands and all of them would work fine -- I think it's having the handles that is really key for the new workouts.

Re: strength/color of tubing -- well, color doesn't matter, really, because every tubing vendor assigns a different color to their various strengths (kinda like there are lots of colors of stability and med balls). Focus on the strength -- light to heavy resistance.
In my experience, resistance tubing is tougher than it looks, so be careful to go "light" enough to allow you a full and appropriate range of motion for all the exercises. Ideally, if you can afford to do it, I'd buy the handles and then get tubing in two or three strengths. You can always grow into it, and it's not really expensive stuff. The lowest/lightest strength you'll want to buy depends upon your overall level of fitness and strength to start with. Think about where you are in your selection of barbell and dumbbell weight for certain exercises. If you're using lighter weight for, say, triceps, then from that I would conclude that you'll need a light tube to start with for triceps work. If you're keeping up with Cathe's heavier weights, you may be ready to start with moderate resistance. See what I mean? Just like dumbbells and barbells, you'll be experimenting for a while with the tubing to find what's right for you, but you can make an educated guess about which resistance levels you should buy in your first purchase.

Target has Reebok tubing with handles. They had a 3 pack with different resistance along with singles. Looks like the tubing in Cathe's videos though it might be a different brand.
I've used a variety of tubing & bands. It's pretty easy to adjust the resistance by where you hold it (even if it has a handle). The only problem I've had is if it's too short.

Hi Joanna! I could be mistaken, but I believe The Step Company is having their own tubing manufactured and packaged in with their step products. I would guess their purple tubing to be light-but-closer-to-medium in resistance. To give you an idea, I was using the yellow (light resistance) tubing by Power Systems before the purple tubing from the Step Company arrived. Once I switched to the purple tubing, the same exact exercises were tougher with the purple tubing. I hope this helps!
