Ah, I love Saturdays!!!

Everybody have fun with fireworks last night?

I've got another productive day planned. Looking forward to getting lots done!

Will def. WO today - not sure what yet tho. Weights for sure. I wanted to do weigths lsat night but I was too tired so Leslie Sansone 4 miles won out. It's decent enough but I love Cathe way more!

Hey Ladies,
Kate, Melanie thanks!!
I had another disc rupture 4 years ago 5/6, and at the time this one was buldging too, but the dr thought it would fix itself. It has hurt off and on over the years but Wed morning I knew it was over! We woke up dd and headed to the hospital, had an mri, was on a morphine drip but it didnt help much. Dr said it was one of the worst ruptures he has seen. Anyway, I am on the mend. Cant do anything for 2 until my check up in 2 weeks. My left arm is sooooo weak and index finger is numb, but that should all come back with time. Could you imagine if I was preg and had this happen??? He was checking my levels while I was being prepped..and my temp was up and wbc was 11...dont really know what that means, but he said the surgery could not wait. He had to pick bone fragments out of my larynx..ewww. Ok enough of that.
Hope everyone is feeling good. HOpe Anne is preggers!!!!! Maybe I will be soon. AF is in full force, but wouldnt know it with the percocet :)

Susan, glad your healing up.

Kate, our fireworks started at 1030, we didn't get home until 1130===now Jadon is really crabby today. We made it to 4 garage sales before they both turned into gigantic whine-buckets. Now we're home for naps!!!

We had a nice Independence Day--I made a delicious lemon buttermilk ice cream (not at all clean eating) with mixed berry pie for dessert. I'm so excited about the ice cream. I haven't made anything so good or simple for a long time. That recipe is a keeper. My MIL and I had a nice visit, so I think that relationship has repaired itself.

I have been informed that ds 4 has stripped himself and is swinging off the "bar" (an old porch swing that we partially dismanteled, but then discovering that the kids really like to play with what's left, kept the rest). I'm going to finish posting first. The back yard is fairly private.

Susan--that sounds awful! What is the long term prognosis in terms of your strength and mobility and ability to work out? I'm glad the surgery went well. Here's to quick healing with not complications.

Trish--you do have a busy weekend. I hope you get to relax a few days also. LOL on the workout clothes. I tend to live in them also.

Kate--I'm going to have to google kibbee to see what it is. The lunch buffet was absolutely delicious. I ate waaaaaay too much. It actually turned out to be more generally middle eastern than lebonese. Oh my goodness did that food hit the spot.

Melanie--thanks for your response on my coaching question. We've discussed it at length with ds and have made a preliminary decision based on how the rest of the coaching presents itself. Both my husband's high school and mine had really tough foot ball coaches who never used bad language and if the players swore, they had to run until they puked. The junior high coaches for ds were great, so this is a real bummer as there is no other opportunity for him to play football.

Hi everyone else! There is some sort of ruckus going on upstairs for me to attend to....

Maggie:)

ETA--Kate--I just googled kibbee and found a recipe (there are lots of variations). I have some ground lamb in the freezer that mil bought for me a while ago.

Hi everyone -
wow susan just sounds so painful, i'm wishing you a speedy and pain free recovery!

i am doing ok. my dad, mini shihtzu and I went to see the fireworks. We were standing from 7pm-1030 or so and i was beat. MY husband was on duty last nite so I figured I'd go spend time with my dad since I had no other plans. My doggie did very well at the fireworks - a few occasional freak-outs from the noise, but other than that pretty good. I LOVE her.

I got decent workouts in this weekend. Friday I did Kellys Step Boxing 2 and slow and heavy (chest/back) and today i did Tracey's High Intensity Step Mix and Slow and Heavy (Bi's/Tri's). That means tomorrow I need to squeeze in cardio and the last of the slow and heavy's.

The step kids fly in around 1230pm tomorrow and my hubby goes off to work at 5. So it'll be me, 3 kids and 2 dogs. Aaagh! LOL.

I'm only working mon/tues tho and then we are off to disney and i'm off until monday.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm feeling good except for being tired all the time. I just spent the last two hours cooking over the stove.

Hi jenmgo. What's your first name?

Your workouts sound really good! I thought you were tired all the time? ;) Any nausea or heartburn? I only got 3 workouts in last week---about 30 minutes each, which is really hard for me to accept, but it'll just have to do.

I"m sooooo unpatient when I'm pg. I"m trying to get my kids to nap right now & it's not going too well. I despirately need a nap myself, but the kids just are not cooperating. So much for a nice day with them---I won't take them ANYWHERE without a nap---they are just so crabby today from fireworks hang over (mental note for next year).

Anyone else's belly grows throughout the day? It seems mine is tinier in AM, and by PM is more rounded out? Doesn't make much sense to me. My finger nails are growing nicely though.

Mikkia, nausea subsiding at all?

Kate, I didn't mean to call your yesterday "lazy" day. ;) I know you're a hard worker---I meant "no plans" day. I"m sure you got alot done.

DH & I did some financial brainstorming on our house. We've missed our first payment on our other house (July 1st) and are contemplating lowering the price of our house to less than we owe---in an effort to preserve our credit. Noone has even looked at our house now for 10 days or so....discouraging!!!!!!

My first name is Jen :)

Yes, normally i am super tired so that is why i was suprised i got in two days of decent workouts this weekend.

I think what the problem is that during my work days i get up at 530am and work 10.5 hours, then when i try to come home and workout im just so drained that my workouts suffer.

so i can only get a decent workout on my weekends off it seems.

no nausea or heart burn really. sometimes i get so hungry and i eat and then i feel sick after that but i dont get sick. i spend a decent amount of time in the bathroom though :(

Are you constipated? I also have to leave for work at 630--have a 90 minute ride to work---then work 10 hr days (no breaks--stand all day)--then drive home. I found before I got pg that it was best to get up at 430 and do my workouts BEFORE work. Of course, now I need my sleep more than my workouts. My energy seems to be returning a little now though. ;)

Hi Melanie
Wow what kind of work do you do?? I have long hours too but at least I can sit. I'm a deputy. But now i'm on light duty so i have a desk type job. Not what im used to at all. My job in DC required me to stand all the time too and it STUNK. I do not envy you. I no longer have a long commute. I cant image a 90 minute one. Make sure you take care of yourself.

Yea i could never force myself to get up that early to exercise. Once upon a time maybe, but not lately. I hate getting up when its still DARK out :(

The kids will be here the whole month so i dont think i'll get my workouts in too often, especially since my DH has to work for some of those days. I plan on taking them to the pool though, so that should count for something - even tho i just float more than swim lol. And..that day at disney, will be lots of walking!

I"m a pharmacist in a busy retail pharmacy. Is your husband a deputy too? Have you been to Disney before? Must be a busy place for pg families...our Mikkia just got back from there. ;)

Hi,
I am back from the busy weekend. My sister's small party lastnight turned into a major country club event with about 150 people!!! I did get to see my best friend, her DH and kids. My DH had a good time too. My BIL's fireworks show didn't start till about 10:00p.m., so DS was really crabby all day today (so I can relate, Melanie). We went to a small party today, then back home. We were going to go to fireworks that start here in 30 minutes, but we are all beat. Tomorrow, there is a big fireworks show downtown, and my mom is coming for a week visit due to my week-long class, so we'll take her there to see them.
I did not workout today, but yesterday I did Cathe Cardio Fusion (I don't have the case with me now, but it's one of the beg/intermed workouts she did that has step and some weight work between the step routines). I liked it.
Today, I woke up at 7a.m. when DS did, and I felt like such crap. I fell back asleep from 9:00-10:30a.m. Then, I took another 2 1/2 hour nap when my DS slept this afternoon. I still don't feel right-just so darn tired. I guess it's my body telling me to SLOW down! Weekends are always like this! Strange.
Oh, by the way, my DS had a spat last week regarding the name for our new baby boy. I thought we were set on Aiden (spelling, not sure yet) Joseph, but according to him, we never settled on a name. So, after I threw a huge, hormonal induced pregnantzilla temper tantrum last week, we just let it go. Today, he agreed on Aiden. What is the big deal???
My cousin who just had a baby boy a few weeks ago found out that her baby has not gained 1 oz in 3 weeks. He was born a few weeks early. She finally took him for a check-up and had to give him an antacid pill before feeding him formula b/c he's been spitting up so much. The dr. is going to monitor his weight gain very carefully. I think I would have panicked if that were my baby and taken him to the dr. a lot sooner, but of course, she didn't. Rememeber, she is my DH's cousin...not mine (technically).

Melanie-I love to go to yard sales. I am looking for a dresser I can refinish for the baby's room. Did you find anything good?

Kate-My mom just got the 4-Mile Walk DVD. I will have to check that one out. I didn't like the 5-Mile one (just my personal preference).

Jen-Where do you live? What does your job involve? It sounds like you have some very busy days ahead of you. Enjoy!

Susan-I am so sorry to hear about all that is going on with you. Hopefully, you are on the mend soon!

Maggie-I ate some great desserts too. And, it felt so good!!! Too funny about the naked swinging DS!
I wonder how Kristan is doing???

Morris-check in to let us know how you and your Aiden (sp?) are doing. Was there any controversy over choosing a name for your baby? My DH sent me that name one day, through e-mail, at work. I was surprised b/c he does not usually like anything out of the ordinary. Not that Aiden is an uncommon name (actually, it's the opposite now), but it's not Joe or Jack. I loved it from the first time I heard it on Sex & the City-I just never thought he would go for it. Anyway, I think we are good to go on the name.

Hello to everyone else!
-Jen

I just have a few minutes but I'll try to get everyone!

Susan. Glad you checked in and are sounding so cheerful!

Melanie - LOL on the gigantic whine-buckets!! Did they ever get to sleep? Or you? (((hugs))) No worries on the "lazy" comment - I knew what you meant! My belly feels diff. at night too - "out there" more. Good luck with the house scenario - how stressful.

Maggie, Yummy dessert!!! The kibee is even better raw tho I haven't had it this way in YEARS. Yes, my family eats raw lamb like it's going out of style. But when you grow up eating it.... As far as a recipe - my grandma makes it, it's in her head, and will likely die with her! Glad it went well with MIL. LOL at DS!!

JenM, Great workouts! Have fun with the kids! Our gr. danes are scared. to. death. of fireworks.

Jen Jaypea (we have 2 Jens!) - Fun party! Sorry about babyname-drama! We were going to have that if we were having a boy - thank goodness its a girl!!:7 As far as Leslie, I'm sure I won't be using them after the initial post-partum phase but they're okay enough for the days when my RL pain is getting really bad.

Today has been a good day. I did 4DS KB cardio tonight. Maybe a rest day tomorrow?

Jen- I'm still here. 1 day late and counting! I actually think cardio fusion is a little harder than I expected. Mine is sitting in my husband's office for him to ebay, but I may get it out again.

Melanie- are garage sales part of 4th of July in your area? All that driving sounds draining.

Susan- oh goodness! glad you are ok. Did the dr. fuse the disks or just do the diskectomy?

Last night we sat on our roof and had a perfect view of the fireworks. It is so nice NOT to have to drive anywhere. Today we had "forced family fitness" at the YMCA. I did elliptical and the squat machines. I felt some weak contractions this evening but nothing notable.

I work as deputy in Florida. My husband and I moved here last fall and we love the area. For the most part. The job can get tiring. But now i'm at a desk job so its realllllly different

its 1115pm and i cant believe i'm up. usually i'm passed out by now. its just me and the doggies :) i should get my rest becuase it'll be a full house tomorrow and my dh will be at work. yes, he is a deputy too to answer the above question.

hope everyone has a nice rest of the weekend.

Kristan! Weak contractions ARE CONTRACTIONS!!! Soon, baby, soon! ((((Happy dance!!)))))
Fireworks by roof top sound marvellous!
