TTC & Preggers ~ Week of April 27

Lisa, SIL WAS a size zero - thank goodness not anymore. She just looks like a normal gal who is preg. Poor thing has already gained a ton of weight in her FACE! Which is almost good becuase she looked so gaunt and sickly before. I've been thinking about those WO's too! One song from RS has been in my head like crazy. Good job on 3 WO's! Can you believe we say things like that now!?

I worked out 6 days last week! I can hardly believe it! Glad it's getting back to normal.

15 weeks, 1 day

lisa, i did step blast twice a week during first pregnancy from weeks 2o thru 40. i think b/c i was new to cathe then, also stopped running so early. i still love the workout but like to add on either step only or blast only. great woorkouts!!

kate, that is awsome you feel so good and you even avoided cake! the choclate one sounds better to me anyways.... i hate the fat face look. i avoided that until the end with ds, but now, if i have a salty day, i have that look for a bit.

hi kate, maggie, jen, anne, and lurkers!

today i had a great 8 mil run and did bm2 double upper body - that is always so hard!! i feel really good, but i am anxious/excited for my ultrasound on tuesday! we are off to a greek easter dinner tonight. lamb is not something i eat but is traditional. i should be able to otherwise eat well today. last night we had dinner with friends and kids - lots of fun!

Kate - 6 workouts! That's awesome! I can't wait until I'm at that point. I'm still nauseaus every now and then and the fatigue is still kicking. Hopefully some change soon since I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow.

Morris - Have fun at dinner! I've never tried lamb before. I don't know why, but it just doesn't sound appealing to me. Maybe the word "lamb" in itself makes me not want to eat it.

I am going to eat a small breakfast then workout and take the kids to the pool. Maybe I'll try to sneak in couple laps at the pool if DH will watch the kids for a bit. Have a great Sunday ladies!!

Lisa

Hi everyone!

I hurt my back again last week, doing new moves from the weight workout I found at the end of Amy Bento's ASC2. I need to stick with traditional weight work for legs. Many of those moves apparently put too much stress on my poor back.

So, my workouts were
The weight workout hidden at the end of ASC2
GS chest and triceps
GS back and biceps

My eating has been much better, so I'm not to panicked about the lack of cardio. I do feel better, so I will bike next week. My back pain gets worse with every baby. I think this is it for me as it appears my body is falling apart.

I checked out the 2chix shirts. I want the we're hungry and babyfat ones, but the t shirts were sold out and I don't want a tank, so maybe they will re-stock them. My husband had to explain m i l f to me--I could never wear that! I thought that some of the man shirts were really funny, but dh would never wear them. He's not the type to wear cutesey sayings....oh well.

I don't really need anymore clothes anyway and after I spent you don't want to know how much on homeschool materials for next year, I probably shouldn't.

take care!
Maggie :)
23 weeks, 6 days

Morris, My dad's family is Lebanese and we grew up eating RAW LAMB!!! I cannot believe I ate that stuff. No one tells you what it is until you are old enough to not care anymore because its so delicious. It is a total Lebanese delicacy. I quit eating it when TTC Gina, then pg, nursing, TTC, preg, nursing. Now I can't bring myself to eat it anymore. Sad, I know! The whole fam goes crazy over it - it's ground up very fine, mixed with bread crumbs and seasonings, shaped into a giant loaf and voila! It's called kibbee. So good, so bad.

Lisa, Have fun swimming! Your 1st trimester blues will be over soon!

Maggie, Sorry about the back pain. Do you see a chiro at all? Mine keeps me feeling great! Falling apart - hardly! 2chix is good about restocking - check again soon. And for the record, what exactly does MILF stand for?

I'm pretty tired today - not sure about a WO. We'll see...

Kate- we have a ton of Lebanese around here (including the mayor). The Maronite (sp?) cathedral is up the street. The have weekly lunches for take out; I need to get some- you're making me hungry.

Maggie- sorry about your back. I keep having sore achilles heels and crazy hip pain. We are getting old!

Jen- I'm trying to hold myself back in the garden this spring. But, i keep seeing stuff that needs to be done. My yarrow are giant and need to be split; same with some hosta. But that's ALL I'm doing. And trimming my boxwood. And planting annuals. You get the picture.

Lisa-I was thinking how pitiful my maternity lap suit is. It's almost 8 years old. It's held up well, but this pregnancy should about end its life.

Morris-I love greek food too! (who am I kidding- i love all food, except Indian). I forgot that orthodox Easter falls this weekend.

My week:
mond- short walk, GS legs floor
tues- gym, some leg machines
weds- all upper body from Timesaver
fri- Sharon Ath Step Jam
sun- Ath Step Jam combos and ball and core

Besides Ath Step Jam, I didn't work too hard this week. I read an article in Vogue about a woman who worked out daily for her entire life and decided to exercise less frequently and try new things. I am going to try that approach rather than mandating myself to work out daily or even 5 days a week. We'll see how it goes.

Maggie - My back starts to hurt like crazy with my pgs when I'm in the tail end of my 2nd trimester until birth. It's not fun. I also find this pg a lot harder than my first two when I was in my twenties. Oh no, age!

Kate - I don't know if we're allowed to post what MILF stands for. I'm sure you could ask DH and he should know.

Kristan - At first I was really freaking out about not being able to workout like normal (5x/week at least 1hr+ each time) because of all the nausea and fatigue, but now I'm enjoying the time of just getting in at least 45min when I feel good and do things like take the kids to the pool which I probably would have never done before. I'm at that in between stage where a maternity suit is too big, but I'm pouring out of a regular suit. Not a pretty sight.

Lisa

Kristan - Glad you're feeling good about your workout plan - liking to exercise seems like most of the battle.

Lisa, We are both CLUELESS on MILF! Does the f rhyme with duck? I am at a complete loss as to what the MIL stands for - other than mom-in-law but none of that makes sense. Now you've really got me curious! I just ordered 2 maternity tankinis - one from Gap and one from Old Navy. They both will fit great!

Lisa, I just looked up on the website what it stands for. Oh my word! WHO would have the nerve to wear that?!?!!? And who would even know what it stands for!?

Hi,
I am laughing!!! The reason I know all about MILF is from watching that movie "American Pie". It means Mother I Would Like to (word rhymes with duck). Stiffler (one of the characters on it) had this mom who wore tight clothes, had blonde hair, and all his friends said she was a MILF. Yeah, you wouldn't catch me in that shirt:) .

I am just popping in quick.
I have an OB appt. tomorrow, and I am suspecting that I have the beginnings of a wonderful yeast inf (great). I just finished the antibiotic, and I guess this is my prizex( . Well, at least I am going to the right dr. for it.

Have a great week!
-Jen

I know next to nothing about pop culture. Jeez.

Jen, Yuck. Yeast inf. are horrible. I had terrible breast yeast inf. when nursing Gina. NASTY!

I was really tired but I did Step Blast combos anyway. Really tired now, but there is paperwork to do!

okay, so ya'll figured out what MILF stands for. Privately that's what I am for dh}( }( , but no way would I wear it anywhere.

Kate--I haven't seen a chiro yet. I probably should but one more thing to do ya know. I will check back on the 2chix. I'm glad that your no longer size 0 sil is "progressing". Now maybe you won't get all those dreaded comparisons.

Kristan--what's Ath Step Jam--can't be Cathe's, I'm thinking. Sorry about your aches and pains. Since I can't jump, my achilles tendons are feeling much better, so I guess once I give birth, I'll start having achilles and knee problems and fewer back--if it's not one thing it's another. I'm thinking also of how I'm going to have to modify my workout life as I age. I'm thinking more weights, cleaner eating, and more low impactx( .

Lisa--I hear what you are saying about low back pain and aging. I bounced through my first 3 pregnancies (26, 29, and 31), but it's gotten progressively harder after that. I have a friend who is 47 and pregnant and hugely overweight. I don't know how she is surviving it.

Jen--glad someone is up on popular culture:7. My husband works with a much younger co worker who told him what it meant. I'm sorry about your yeast infection. It's sure been one thing after another for you. I hope it clears up fast.

Morris--yum! I want some traditional Greek Easter dinner. I love almost any kind of ethnic food (actually I love most any kind of food which is sort of a big problem for me.)

Hi Anne and lurkers--is anyone lurking I wonder?:)

Maggie
23 weeks 6 days

busy board last night!! i on the other hand, was sleeping!

dinner was a fun get togethter, but no lamb for me, no pasta - i ate a lot of greek salad - yum!!! it did have feta, but i barely touched that. then i ate 6 greek cookies. let me just say, they are tiny cookies, but buttery and oh so good!!! it was worth it for sure!!

maggie, so sorry for the back pain. i tried amy's weight work sometime toward the end of my first trimester and felt it in my back. not fun, not comofrtable. i may try again after pregnancy, but i am just not sure the slo mo is for me. i do her weight work on hi lo extreme, and it is actually great (love the leg portion). slo -mo is tough though.

kristan, i think your attitude to exercise is so great. i always find myself trying to keep up with what i did yesterday or last week or, you get the picture. i know after i had ds i cut way back - 20 to 30 min here or there. things have a way of working out.

kate, glad you found some good suits. i need to get a post baby suit that will accomadate my nursing extras.... any plans for today?

lisa, sorry you are still nauseous, but i hope you will be coming out of it soon. what do you do for your back pain? i have not had any yet, other than end of day fatigue, but, i am getting terrible pain in my hips at night when i sleep on my side.

hi jen - do you have a test coming up soon or an us? hope you feel good.

i got up early again - yeah!! 2 days in a row! had a nice run, but then i was starving and had an egg sandwich and some fiber one cereal. i love breakfast. work today, and it is supposed to rain. yuck! happy monday everyone.

Maggie, I know exactly what you mean about one more thing to do... How is all of your brood today?

Morris, I've never had a greek cookie. A buttery cookie sounds yummy! Nursing extras - LOL! No special plans - normal Monday stuff - errands, pop into the office to put out fires, etc. Breakfast is my fave meal too - glad you're feeling good w/ your WOs. Is Parent Drama calming down?

I'm feeling better and better all the time. Most of what I'm eating is back to my normals, plus a little more carbs. My midwife felt I was too carb-restrictive. Baby needs energy!

Hoping for some MM tonight! Wish I could right now (DDs are playing SO NICE!) but I hate to be back in the weight room for an hour while they roam...

Hi,
I had my OB appt today, and I about 16 weeks. I will get an u/s at the next one (5/28). When the dr. used the doppler to find the baby's heartbeat, we heard mine too. It was a little strange, but then we could hear just the baby's. I gained 1 pound since the last appt, so I am doing well with that. He also gave me a cream for my yeast infection (yes, they are wicked). I had a blood test for the triple screen today, so I guess it will be a few days till I get the results.

One of my students, whose mother is pregnant with her 9th (she has you beat, Maggie-and Maggie, I am sure you are a very capable mother too, not like this lady) child (and if it were up to me, should not have been allowed to have any), was taken by child protective services this past Friday. She wasn't in school, and I am worried about her. No one knows anything about it, so I am hoping that we are told soon about what happened. I hope she is alright.

I took a nice, long walk with DS and DH tonight. I am feeling some swelling "down there", but I don't think that will get any better. Oh, well. I am NOT going to give up exercise like I did with my last pregnancy.

I will talk soon.
-Jen

Jen ^5 on 1 lb. gain! WOW! I would actually lose weight when pg w/ #2. Not so this time! Hope the triple test goes well. U/S in 4 weeks - exciting! Too sad about your student - keep us updated, I hope she is okay. A family walk sounds nice. Sorry about the swelling - yuck. Hope the yeast infection clears up quickly!

I did PLB standing work tonight. I reallyreally wanted to do the floor work. Wah!

Morris--you are soooo disciplined. I would have been all over that dinner...mmmm....

Kate--good job on the eating. I'm so hungry. I did well for a couple of days and then blew it again today. Keeping chocolate chip cookies in the cupboard on a plate is not a good plan. It's better to keep them in the garage freezer, out of reach.

Jen--I'm sorry to hear about your student. I hope you can get some news of her soon. It seems like CPS would notify her school of any changes. My husband's cousin has 8 kids by 4 or 5 different dads. All of them have been taken away. It's really tragic. Many of the kids live in unfortunate situations. She did consent to let the state tie her tubes after the last baby, which is good because she would have just kept on having drug/alcohol babies with loser dads....Children are a blessing and should be treated accordingly.

I think 7 is it for me. I figured out that I've gained somewhere between 420 and 490 lbs over the last 15 years and although I've lost it all (except with #4--long story), I'm just weary of gaining and losing weight, plus I think my body has just had it.

I think I'm finally getting my burst of 2nd trimester energy--about time. I spent 1.5 hours getting garden plots in shape. I'm glad spring is late this year, because I'm not quite ready to plant yet. I plan to plant on May 10, because dh and oldest son will be at a scout camporee this weekend, so I won't be able to get much done. We'll just hunker down with movies and snacks for 24 hours--when the cat's away, the mice will play}(

Hi Lisa! Hi Anne! Hi Kristan!

Maggie
24 weeks down, 16 to go.....

Morris - I couldn't do much for the backpain that actually helped it. I sort of just grinned and beared it until I gave birth. Cookies sound yummy.

Maggie - Are you or DH going to get fixed if you guys decide that this is it? I'm trying to convince DH to do it, but he's not quite on board. Good luck with your u/s!

Jen - Sorry about the yeast infection. I tend to get them after a round of antibiotics also. Yay on a good appt!

Kate - I agree about that shirt and who would want to wear that and pg none the less.

Hi there everyone else!

Swimming felt great yesterday. I wish I had access to a pool closer to my house so I could swim laps more often. Anyway, I had a bummer morning because I found out that a friend of ours who we haven't seen in awhile found out that her 11-year old daughter has acute childhood leukemia. She has 3 other children besides her daughter and she has to juggle having her daughter be in the hospital for 8-9 mos straight. I just hope and pray her daughter goes into remission and things work out for them as far as their other children. It was really devastating news to hear. Sorry for being a downer, but it was rough hearing that news. I hope everyone has a great week!

Lisa

Maggie, LOL! I do that with leftover cookies too! I bet your body IS feeling about done with pgs! Even this 3rd one is treating me way different than the others. Can't imagine 7! Props to you for being willing for it all! As nauseous as I've been I'd be hard-pressed to go for the 4th. Gardenmax huh? I love how it looks but I hate the labor. Sounds like you and the kids have a fun weekend planned. I have a baby shower Saturday and I will be going ALONE this time!

Lisa, Glad you had a good swim. Sorry about your friends daughter. That is sad news. I'm hearing more and more about childhood leukemia being linked to the Vitamin K shot they give newborns. We are opting out of it.

-----

Felt a little queasy before lunch. Food took care of it! I'm just really tired now. And emotional! My word! I can cry at the drop of a hat. I bawled when I dropped Isabel off at preschool this AM. Thankfully, I kept it together til I was out of the building! I'm 15 weeks - anybody else get really weepy about now?

i think i am the waterworks queen these days! dh had a MINOR argument, and i just wept. i mean, it was really nothing, but i took it hard.

lisa, glad the swimming is fun. i bet that is good for your back too. that is an awful story about your friends daughter. i cannot bear things like that and feel so fortunate. what strength people must find within!

maggie, i too feel like my body is not cooperating, and this is only my 2nd. not sure i see a 3rd in my future, especailly if i do not cycle on my own. just cannot see going thru hormones again.

kate, glad the nausea is better.

it is pouring here. yuck! i enjoyed some cardio fusion today, and that was fun. i was really sore, though, from butts and guts leg blast yesterday. it has been so long since i did that one! off to our ultrasound - i will post more later
