TTC/Preggers Check-In March 30

amhess

Cathlete
Hi ladies!
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Morris - Sorry about the snow, that stinks! We had a bit a few days ago, but it was just a dusting. It's now in the 40-50's, but I wouldn't mind the 60's soon! Went for a walk today and it was a tad chilly but nice!

Jen - Do let us know how the lotion is! I'm just using Jergens and assuming it's still o.k. to use self tanner when preggers?

Kate - Those t-shirts sound really neat and comfy! I'm getting excited to buy clothes, since this is my first, but still fitting into normal clothes, but pants are starting to get tight around the belly. I think I just need some shirts for the summer.

Lisa - I'll be praying that your u/s goes great this week! Let us know how it goes! I've been spoiled, from my fertility specialist doing them so early on for me since I'm high risk. I have another one in 2 weeks, so I'd imagine that will put me where you're at right now and it will be exciting to see a bit more than a bean there! :) I hope your nausea is at bay now too and leaves for good. do you have an acupuncturist around? I know I'm still doing that and I've heard it's good for nausea.

Maggie - Sounds like you had a busy day! How were your new Amy workouts? Which one's did you get? Any to recommend?

Kristan - Composting, ugghhhh...I really should get out and clean up the old leaves and stuff, but just no real want to do that quite yet. I'll feel more like it when we get some warmer weather here.

Well, I just worked the 2nd job and did a lot of cleaning around here. Trying to get the extra bedroom cleaned out to make room for the baby! I'd always had it painted and ready for when we got preggers, but still a bunch of junk in the closet that I need to get rid of, so baby stuff can go in there. It's weird for me to be thinking this far ahead, but this one feel so different than my first 2 m/c's, so I hope I'm not getting too overly excited this early on. I just can't help it...

Hi everyone--

My workouts this week
4DS LIS+chest and back
60 min stationary bike
SJP w/u and step+4DS legs
LIS cardio premix
4DS shoulders, biceps, triceps
unplanned rest day--Last night dhs ankle swelled up out of no where and for no apparent reason and he couldn't walk on it. Called the doctor on call and he said it could be "gout". I spent a rather sleepless night wondering about the long term implications of such a disease (googled it). I took him to urgency care this morning (he was in such pain--we missed church) and the doc thought soft tissue damage and not gout. He'll see his regular doctor tomorrow if it does not feel better. We are at a loss--he was fine all day and out of the blue this happens. Anyway, I couldn't muster the energy for a workout.

Anne--I think it's great that you are excited. The new Amy Bentos I got are In the Ring and All Cardio Hi/Lo Knockout--both look good, although I haven't actually done them. Too much impact for me in the hi/lo one and I can't kickbox whilst pregnant because it bothers my lower back. I love her advanced Step Challenge 2 and can modify that one sufficiently.

Lisa--are your kids excited about the baby? They'll be a great help when he/she comes. I can't wait to hear about your ultrasound....

Kristan--I'm so excited about you naming the baby Magdalena. As I shared I'm a Magdalen and I rarely hear my name or variations there of. Cool.

Morris--I like Alex and Liam--not much help am I?}( I am totally jealous of your snow.

Hi Kate! Hi Jen!

take care
Maggie
who no longer has a due date but is somewhere between 10 and 20 weeks.

hi everyone - happy monda!

anne, my fingers are crossed for this next us for you. how are you feeling?

lisa, i hope this week finds you feeling better and better.

maggie, you can have my snow! and why no due date? how is your nausea? great workouts!

jen, how are you feeling these days?

kristan, have you tried any new amy's yet?

dh is supposed to be home tuesday night, so i am really excited about that. meanwhile, i am slowly giving up running, i think. also, seem to be happier working out later in the day. still very stressed about my family - dh being home will hopefully be a good distraction. i worked out every day last week but cannot remember exactly what i did - ran about 40 mil, all the gym styles, cardio fusion, amy's new workout, and a bunch of interval stuff. today i am hoping to do bm2 scrambled after work while ds naps....

Anne, You just go on and be excited! And order some clothes! Wishing you some mild nausea so that you keep "feeling" pg!! (Very mild though!)

Maggie, Let us know how DH does! That sounds awful. LOL on your signature line!!! Great WO's too!

Morris, Great WOs for you too! I'm excited for you that DH will be home. How long will he be home for? Will he get to be home for awhile around your due date and after? Hope so! With DD1 DH stayed home w/ me for 6 weeks. 1 week w/ DD2. This time he'll be home but he'll be on the phone the whole time. Funny story - Last night DD1 was singing nursery rhymes. She sang the original version of Little Bo Peep and then came up with this one about her dad:

"Leave him alone and he'll come home bringing his telephone behind him!" I laughed so hard. He is ALWAYS on the phone. Suppliers/builders/employees - no one cares that its 6PM and we might actually like family time. Drives me crazy sometimes.

Doing okay today - fighting some bug and I had an apple this AM and its making me really nauseous. Oh well - better get busy w/ my day. See ya!

why on earth would an APPLE make me puke??!?!!?!?!

The good news is I'm feeling much better now.
But APPLE!! Come on!
I just want to eat healthy, blast it!!!

Kate--ooops I meant to say between 19 and 20 weeks, not 10 and 20. Sorry the apple made you sick. There is no rhyme or reason to morning sickness. I always have to laugh at all the "professional" advice on the topic, for example: "avoid greasy and spicy foods, eat lots of protien"...,etc I mean have these people ever gone through it? You can only eat what you can eat and if that's bbq chips or chinese food, that's what it is. Hang in there.

Morris--I have no due date, because it got changed from august 18 to the 27 and I'm not happy about thatx(. My doc says we'll nail it down at the next ultrasound--take an average or something. So anyway, I just feel at loose ends about it. We did not get any snow that stuck this year, but I'm sure if we had lots and lots of it every winter, it would lose it's novelty.

Dh is feeling better, but unable to work. He's an electrician and you've got to be on your feet for that. He's got lots of paid time off, so right now that isn't an issue.

take care all
Maggie
somewhere between 19 and 20 weeks or as of today 21 weeks, who knows?

Anne - I totally believe in positive thinking and I think you have a lot to look forward to with this pg and baby! Are they going to give you a due date at your next u/s or are they keeping it to the one they just gave you?

Maggie - My kids are excited. They want to know why it takes so long for the baby to get here. I hope DH's foot feels better soon. Hopefully it's not gout because I know your whole diet has to change when you have gout.

Kate - Hope you're feeling better today. You're almost there at your 2nd trimester, hang in there!

Morris - Yay for DH coming home. I'm so sorry about all the stress you're dealing with. Hopefully DH being home will help.

I ended up in the ER last night with an IV for fluids and Zofran for the nausea. I caught a stomach bug on Saturday and that compounded with the pg nausea, I couldn't keep anything down. I had a fever and diarrhea on top of all that also. I felt so much better after getting the IV. I got a prescription for the Zofran and I was trying not to have to take any medicaiton, but after the bout I had this weekend, I will take it when things get so bad that I can't eat or drink. I felt a lot better after the Zofran. The stomach bug was going away, but the pg nausea was kicking in and it was not fun. I had to wash my hands and the smell of the soap would make me want to puke. It was awful. I'm doing a lot better today. I took off work and I'm going to rest up. I have some work to do, but I'll be resting in between also. My u/s is this Thursday. Can't wait! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Lisa

Hi,
Today, I had my 2nd dr's appt, and everything went fine. It was a quick visit (in and out). I gained 1 1/2 pounds since last month, and I was told to drink more water (some traces of protein were found in my urine-that's the reason). The dr. was happy with the weight gain, and was fine about exercise. Last pregnancy, I just didn't care-I ate so much and gained so much. This time around, I want to be healthier. I am feeling fine-just a little bit of nausea from time to time, but all in all, I'm fine.

Lisa-I am sorry to hear about your stomach flu. I hope you feel better soon. Something like that happened the night of my baby shower with my last baby. I had one more month to go, and there I was in the ER throwing up and pooping all over. I was so scared, but everything was fine. Yes, if you can get through what you went through, you can get through "morning sickness" (mine happened in the evening, so I had "evening sickness").

Kate-Didn't you say once before that you puked after eating an apple? That's so strange! I am still turned off of certain foods (at certain times).

Kristan-I have wanted to get into composting for a while now. Where do I begin? Is it easy to start doing? Any advice would be great.

Morris-Glad your hubby is coming home soon.

Maggie-I hope your DH feels better soon.

Hi Anne!

Oh, by the way, I have been doing parts of Amy's All Pump Extreme (yesterday and today), and I just finished the shoulders. I have trouble playing premixes on my computer and on my mini DVD, so I haven't tried them yet. I like the workout, but I think it's a little repetetive. I get bored easily. I have to send this one back to Netflix soon anyway.

Take care!
-Jen

Maggie, thanks for the food encouragement. Glad DH is feeling better.

Lisa, So glad you got some relief - how scary. I know I need to get back to drinking more water, it just sounds so gross.

Jen, ^5 on not gaining tons of weight like me! Glad you're doing good. Did you get to hear a hb? yep, apples make me puke. oh well, they're terribly expensive right now anyway - 1.49/lb!!!

I did PP tonight - needed a quickie. I have lots of work to do. better get going...

Lisa- I hope you feel better. What a double whammy. Yuck. Can you tell the difference in the type of nausea between the flu and morning sickness? My m/s always felt like a nasty hangover.

Morris- I am going to wait on the brand new Bento's until they're at Netflix. If I like them after that, I'll order.

Maggie- When asked what names we're considering, people are in LOVE with Magdalena. I think it's lovely, as is your name. I do want to pick out a boy name just in case. The ultrasound tech guessed wrong with my third daughter Gus (a boy). Hope that ankle is better for your husband.

Jen- we had the compost delivered. It was A LOT- about 2 yards. I do want to start composting too, but it would take me a long time to get 2 cubic yards. I saw a flipping composter that was highly rated; I may try this one:

http://www.cleanairgardening.com/patdesaustum.html

I am aiming for 4 quality workouts per week. Last week was good:

T: Bento Hi Lo Extreme
W: Bento APX segments from HLX DVD (at least an hour)
R: gym, on the ball pilates
Sat: 1 mile+ swim
Sun: SJP step and core

Kristan, How horrible to be planning for the opposite sex! You'd have all the room ready, clothes bought. Yikes! Great WO's last week - hope you get some more this week.

Lisa - Gosh, the ER! Sorry you're feeling so icky. I hope you're taking good care of yourself and the nausea ends quickly for you. I'd take it for you for a few weeks if you'd like! :) Can't wait for your next u/s!

Thanks for the positive thoughts ladies. Not sure if they'll give me a different date or not. I've been seeing the fertility specialist and my new OB, so the OB hasn't really given me a date, just taken my word for it from the u/s from the fertility specialist. We'll have to see what the next one brings next week.

Got in a good Butts-n-Guts today, felt good. Feeling a little pudgy lately. Couldn't be from the double stuff oreo's I just bought...}(

Chat later and hope everyone is well!

oreos sound so good! anne, you get me in trouble when i read your posts in the morning;-) ;-)

lisa, hope you are on the mend!! how awful. i had an 18 hr vomit diarrhea thing this pregnancy, but luckily it pass4d quick enough i did not need the er. feel better soon.

kristan - awsome workouts! what do you think of hi lo extreme? i like it more every time i do it. hi lo dome is great too. and i have revised my opinion on amy's hi lo knockout - did it again and it is fun and tough. on a bummer note, i could only run a 5 miler today, and no running yesterday:( oh well, 12 more weeks and i am back at it}( }(

kate, i take it you are feeling better?? i hope so.

jen, great dr's visit. how far are you now?

i am off for my glucose test. wish me luck!

Kate- it wasn't so bad with the gender switch. I really didn't care what I was having so that wasn't an issue. Like you, I had 2 girls already so I hadn't bought anything or redecorated to plan for a 3rd girl. And because we hadn't found out the gender of our first child, we had plenty of gender neutral clothes 0-6 months and the nursery was neutral as well. It was all pretty funny.

Morris- I liked hilo x. I usually don't like hi lo, but she makes it fun and different. One thing about Amy Bento- she puts a lot of material on her DVD's. You definitely get your money's worth out of them.

Anne, Did you say something about db. stuff oreos...I lost my train of thought!

Morris, You'll be running out of the delivery room!! How did the glucose test go? YUCK-O!

Kristan, Glad the woops didn't throw you guys off too bad. It would for me, for sure! We get the room completely boy or girl - DH would kill me if I had to repaint AGAIN. He jokes that our house doesn't even need insulation anymore. That the # of coats/colors of paint I have keep the house insulated all by themselves! LOL! I get tired of having the same thing and as soon as anyone does something similar to what I have, out it goes! My painter either loves me or hates me with all the crazy stuff I have him do!

I'm feeling not too bad today. Chubby, but oh well. The bump will be up soon. My face isn't gaining any wieght so I guess I can be grateful for that. Just my gut. Ugh. I'm good & sore from PP last night. I'm thinking about Imax3 step combos for tonight. I'm tired but I need some cardio to break up some of the soreness in my legs and chest. DDs haven't had a nap today so I should be able to get them to bed in a timely fashion so I can start my WO by 8. Then its more and more paperwork. Next week, my assistant starts. Yay! It will be such a help. I can't wait to phase myself out, but its scary too. Well, I'll quit rambling. See ya.

So, not sure if this was asked before, but is anyone finding out what sex baby your having? Being our first and probably only one, we're going to have it be a surprise.

Also, is anyone getting the tri or quad screening here? Maybe none of you are old enough to warrant that, it's more for old ladies like me past the age of 35. I asked if there was anything that could be done if we get abnormal results for anything and they said no, so I'm not sure it's worth the stress? Either way, we would keep the baby, so I'm not sure the point of the testing for us except to be prepared if ahead of time if it has something.

Sorry, I must be the bad influence of the group on the topic of food. Did I mention the oreos are the mint double stuffed? }( I was bad tonight and made a mexican bake, but it was with the venison we had in the freezer, so trying to use that up. Wasn't so bad...

Hope everyone is well! Taking a night off of working out tonight since I got adjusted and acupuncture. I'll just do stretching. Dr. mentioned that I was feeling tight.

Anne;

yes, we're finding out on the sex. I hate to leave the room undone and not shop ahead for clothes.

no, I don't get the quad-test. I don't want the stress of wondering. M best friend went thru a false positive - lots of tears, I'll never do that to myself.

those oreos are sounding better and better!! So is your mexican bake!

Enjoy your stretch!

I'm headed downstairs for Imax3 step! Gotta work out the lactic acod from PP last night. Yowch!!!

Morris-I am 12 weeks, 2 days as of today.

Great workouts ladies! I took a long walk with DS and DH tonight, after supper. I didn't eat anything too evil today, but I am thinking about having a small piece of DS's birthday cake!

-Jen

Jen, I'm 11 weeks, 3 days today! The walk, and the cake, both sound great!

Just finished Imax3. Feels good to be sweaty!!

Anne - I don't think we're getting the quad test, but we are scheduled for genetic counseling since I am now in the AMA category. We will do the u/s testing and blood test for down syndrome, trisomy18, and something else. They measure the fluid on the back of the baby's neck during week 11-13 and take a blood test at the same time.

Morris - I couldn't even imagine running 5 miles while pg and that's a "slow" day for you. I would love to just excercise period at this point, but I'm not quite there yet.

Kate - I haven't done IMAX3 in a long time and I'm thinking it'll be awhile before I pull that one out.

Kristan - Pg nausea does feel different than the stomach flu to me. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's not quite the same.

Hi Maggie! Hi Jen!

I'm feeling a lot better today. The pg nausea did kick in tonight so I'm trying to lay low. I haven't worked out at all this week so far. I'm hoping by tomorrow I'll be able to do at least something. I might do some weights and pilates. I know a lot of you ladies have Amy Bento, but I think I have to let her grow on me. I previewed her workouts and the workouts seem pretty intense, but some of her style is different for me I guess. Did you guys like her immediately or did she have to grow on you? I guess like Cathe, I immediately liked her so it was easier to just push play and go. I have a bunch of yoga and pilates dvds where I either like them right off the bat or it just stays in a unused pile and I feel like Amy Bento is somewhere in between. It's like my Jari Love dvd. I used it a few times and I can't seem to pull her dvd out anymore. Same with my P90X. I maybe only would do the Shoulders & Arms and nothing else from that whole set of dvds. Anyway, I'm still browsing and hoping to find something that will just catch my interest I guess. Maybe I'll try hitting the gym more again. We'll see. I need a change to help me get going.
