TTC/Preg Check in June 9th

Candra--I also have avoided lunchmeat while pregnant. I did cave in to an Arby's craving early on, but it was a hot sandwich. I saw a show on Discovery Health one time where the mom contracted listeria, and it was a bad ending, so I don't chance it. My sister ate Subway cold sandwiches all throughout both of her pregnancies with no problem, and her doc said it was fine. She steered clear of shrimp -- and I eat a lot of shrimp. I guess it just depends on who your doc is.. Everyone has such different opinions. All this to say, I don't think the one sandwich did any harm. :)

It seems like with each pregnancy there's another food group to avoid. It's hard to keep up.

Question: Do you girls drink tea? Is it OK? I've been drinking hot tea with breakfast and iced tea (both decaf/herbal tea) with dinner.

ETA: dumb question: What is Strikezone?

Ok so I just googled listeria and now I feel really guilty for eating a turkey sandwich. It did say though you are most likely to get sick during your third trimester since your immune system is repressed. So no more deli meat for me. My sister who is pregnant with her 4th never even heard of this and eats deli meat all the time. I guess ignorance is bliss:)

Stephanie, we went camping last month and I drank sun tea the whole time. It was decaf. I think you can drink two cups regular a day and I don't think there is a limit on decaf. And Strikezone is a new kickboxing workout by Tracey Stahele. Have you ever done any of her workouts? I love her step.

So another food question. Does anybody still use protein powder while pg? I just drank a protein shake. My doctor says he prefers if I get protein from real food but sometimes that is hard. I feel guilty no matter what I do:)

Hi,
Well I am officially off of work until the end of August(yippeee)!!! I did go out with girls from work downtown, but we were inside, so it was fine. We had a really good time with lots of laughs. I did ME this morning, but the express one. Tomorrow, I plan to walk early and do an upper body workout-not sure which one at this point. I like the roll call idea.

I am getting a plantar's wart off of my foot tomorrow afternoon. I have only put this off for 2 years. I know, that's gross!

Name-Jen
EDD-10/11, although c-section will be about one week earlier
Occupation-teacher (1st grade)
I live in Central PA where it's VERY HOT right now;(
I have one son, Andy. He's 3 years, 2 months.

Melanie-I am happy to hear that your DH is coming around. We all knew he would.
Kate-Some days I feel totally drained early on in the day too. Just listen to your body, and it sounds like you are.
Stephanie-My dear friend is moving from PA to Chatanooga, TN (I hope I spelled that right??). Her DH was offered an amazing job, so they are moving soon. She was my partner teacher, so I will miss her so much.
Susan-It's nice to hear from you.
Candra-I have been meaning to check out that Preggie Bellies workout. I haven't been working my abs too much recently.
Mikkia-Morning (all day) sickness is no fun. I hope it leaves you very soon.

Hi Trish, Hi Anne, Hi Lisa, Hi Trish
I can't wait to hear from Morris!

Okay, before I start here's my stats:

Name: Lisa
EDD: 11/3/08 I have never made it to 40 weeks with my first 2 pgs
Occupation: Office Manager or I like to call it Company Slave
Home: Oahu, Hawaii
Children: ds, 8 soon to be 9 yrs old dd, 6 yrs old

Susan - You sound like you have a really great attitude despite all that is going on with you. I'm so sorry again for your loss.

Mikkia - Sorry about the morning sickness. We've all been there and know how much it stinks.

Melanie - I'm glad DH is softening up to the idea of having another baby. Yay!

Anne - I'm anxiously awaiting your 2ww results!

Stephanie - My house is chaos right now. I usually tidy up on the weekend, but with my cold, I just slept all weekend.

Candra - I don't think I knew about deli meats with my first 2 pgs, but I don't think I ate much of it anyway, but with this one, I knew it was a no-no. What I didn't know was also a listeria risk was soft served ice cream.

Trish - Lol about DH coming home a hottie.

Kate - I love family nap time. So relaxing and quiet. Unfortunately doesn't happen much in our house.

Jen - Good luck with the removal on your foot. And yay for being on official vacation from work!

Maggie - Kung Fu Panda was funny!! I really enjoyed it. I think this will be the last movie in the theater for us as well for awhile. Movies can get pricey real fast!

Hi Kristan! Hi Morris (although I know you're probably not reading this)! Hi to anyone else I missed!

So the cold is still hanging around. Today was a chaotic day for me and now I'm completely drained. Work was draining and home was draining. Not fun. Our dog is still alive. My MIL changed her mind about taking the dog in. I think she's hoping she'll just go and not have to make the decision to put her down. She doesn't seem like she's really suffering in pain, but seems like she's shutting down. Such a hard decision to make. Anyway, hope everyone has a great week ahead of them!

Lisa
