Thanks for starting our daily thread, Melanie! I love ASC1 - have fun!

Lisa, Hope you had fun Imaxing last night.

Busy day for me today - just say grrrr to Wednesdays.
Tomorrow is Gina's last day of kindergarten though, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Hurray!!!

a quick good morning! mel, i was up at 4:30 - did all step from ctx and hi loknockout first 3 combos.

hi kate - glad the appointment went so well. details details! what do we do post partum?

bbl!

This was a good workout, however I just don't have as much umph this early as I do at 4pm (my power hour). I was able to do sections 1-3. Amy Bento is my new favorite. Anyone preorder ASC3?

No nausea for me yet, I usually don't until week 7 or so. Kate, are you an accountant?

Jen, we live in a very rural area. The Minnesota/Canada customs bridge is literally 5 minutes from my house. I'm suprised that it'd be so difficult to get into a dr around here!

Trish, I try to get 1/2 way before officially wearing maternity clothes. I'm determined to eat healthy!

Morris, as much as you miss running,...it'll be a nice break for you. Do you belong to a gym?

Mikkia, do you have a sonogram scheduled? Any nausea?

Candra & Sandra-- 3 boys! Yes, I love my 3 boys,...but have always wondered what a girl would be like. Will you guys try for a girl?

Maggie, how old is little Eva now? Must be right around 2?

Susan, any updates with your HCG levels?

Okay, I think I got everyone (even took notes). :)

I"m off to work, chat with ya'll later.

Hello all !
I was wondering if I could join your forum ???
I'm about 5 weeks preg. First preg. A little scary, but, exciting too.
So far, so good. Besides the extremely sore boobs!!! OUCH!
I'm keeping up with my reg. exerc. for now. And really eating healthy. My husband is driving me crazy about it too! Don't eat that, what did you eat today, how much? Did you eat enough for the baby? OH MY!!! 9 months of this!! He is just very excited.

Question for all you that have been preg. before. Is it ok to still do ab work at 5 weeks?

Well - Thanks for letting bust in on your forum :)

Good Morning Everyone,
So far no more spotting. I will get my HCG results this morning around 10 central time. I am in Mississippi. After I take dd to day camp I will run by the dr's office.
Being out of town I have not workded out since Friday. Under the circumstances I am glad I have taken the week off.
I think I beat you all with materanl age. I am 41. I was 33 when dd was born. Dh is 45. yikesss!
Hi to everyone and I will bbl.
Susan

Morris, She didn't address post-aprtum and I didn't ask. I was so excited to hear that it wasn't bad that I completely didn't think about post-partum. She said for now just avoid crunches, any curling forward movement. Be careful getting out of bed - roll over onto your side and then push up sideways to sit. I can go canoeing this summer!!! I was really worried about that. She gave me a pregnancy bellydance video to do so I'll try that soon. I can ask about pp at my next appt - July 2. I'll find out then for you then - you'll already have had your baby but you won't be exercising yet anyway. Maybe?!:)

Melanie- I didn't preorder ASC3 - I haven't practiced the first one enough yet! Glad you're avoiding the nausea so far. Not a CPA - DH is a self-employed plumbing contractor. We have 21 employees and are so busy its ridiculous. We're thankful though because a lot of plumbing shops around here have been closing up. We're in Michigan but we have a lot of work in Wyoming right now.

Anyone ever heard of encapsulating your placenta? A midwife dehydrates it and puts it into pill form for you to take so you and baby get all of the nutrients out of it. Apparently we are the only mammals that do not EAT their placentas. GROSS!!! If a mom is hemoraging after delivery, supposedly if she eats part of the placenta the bleeding just immediately stops. A doula friend of mine was telling me about it last night. I can't imagine eating it but I am interested in encapsulating mine.

Well, now that I've grossed out everyone for the day....see you later!

Alicia, Welcome and congrats!!! I had some wicked sore boobs - I was a deflated B, now I'm a full C. Yes, we're enjoying it now!!;) }( LOL on DH! He'll calm down. Yesterday my DH was eating a swiss cake roll (I haven't had one in a decade!) and he wouldn't let me eat ONE BITE!! Thanks, honey!:* Ab work is okay on your back up til the end of your 1st trimester. Then no more laying on your back. Be careful with standing core work after that - I actually split my ab muscles (it's called diastasis recti) last week so I'm pretty bummed, but my midwife says not to worry so I won't.

Susan, So glad to hear from you! KUP on your appt!

Hi guys!
Thanks for the warm welcome yesterday! I hope I didn't seem too laid-back about the baby's cyst I mentioned. If you knew me, you'd know I"m a total worry wart, well, a recovering worry wart. It's just that our doc really reassured us, as did the 1.3 million articles we read online about it. :) It's in God's hands, and I trust that He does everything with purpose. I'm still a worry wart, but am learning to keep it at bay so that I can really enjoy this last pregnancy. :)

Melanie--hope you had fun with your workout!! I've never tried Amy (Bento?), but I think post partum I'll order some of her stuff. I've been having some back woes, so I haven't worked out since Friday's Preggi Bellies workout (which was really fun) and Saturday's marathon visit to the zoo, where I walked A LOT.

Morris-- Let's just say I'm in awe of your commitment to working out. 4:30 a.m.???? You rock, lady!

Alicia--Congratulations!!! Savor your first pregnancy and give into a few cravings. Your DH will love indulging in them too. :) My DH has gained just about as much weight with each of my pregnancies as I did. He loves the late-night icecream runs. And post-partum, he starts his running again and we both get back in shape together.

Susan--Glad to hear your spotting has stopped. Hope the appointment goes well. BTW, my sister just had her second daughter in March, and she turns 40 in August. She's an amazing mom and is especially patient and laid back this time around.

Kate--I'm totally dry heaving after reading your post about the placenta. BLECH!! Eww!!
Glad your appointment went well. I hope your diaswhatchamacallit doesn't bother you too much. It sounds SOOO painful. Are you still able to work out/lift your daughters/carry groceries, etc?

Stephanie, NO, you don't seem laid back - just cautiously hopeful! Which is a good thing. Worry and stress hurts so much more than we know. So you like Preggi Bellies? I keep meaning to order that - maybe I'll treat myself today. Midwife says she wants me to do more pg-based workouts. DR's orders I'll tell DH!! haha! The diastasis is getting much better. I think the initial strain of it was the worst part, now that the muscle has healed it's getting better. Groceries and the like are no problem. DDs are 6 &4. I never carry the 6-yo. She's waaaay to independent. The 4-yo. loooooves to be carried (thought she was my last baby!) and I have obliged her but I've been having her walk a little more lately.

And yeah, it is pretty gross about the placenta but I find that stuff so fascinating. Humans are the only mammals who don't eat their placentas. And taking the placenta dehydrated in pill form is supposed to work miracles for PPD, which I have had HORRIBLE and it was worse with DD2. I think DH might force-feed it to me so he doesn't have to go thru that again! LOL!

Susan- I spotted to varying degrees with all four pregnancies, this one included. Hope your numbers go up. In fact, with kid #3, it was weeks 6-12, bright red, etc.

Kate- I've always thought a placenta looks like a flank steak. Interesting.

trish- i think you asked about the running ob. I guess marathons are too easy for him. He runs the ultramarathons, 50-100 miles at a time.

Alicia- welcome. Eat what you can. for most of us in the first trimester, it's sugary junk. I myself was a poptart and pepsi addict. Strangely, the third trimester leaves me craving stuff that is good for me- protein, whole grains, etc.

Melanie- I cannot believe that woman is already on to ASC3. Where did you preorder? I think I will, although I am far from a master of ASC2. Congrats, by the way.

Morris- I think you asked about the spacing of my kids. DD1 is 7, DD2 is 5, DS is 2.5. They turn 8,6, and 3 in the fall. So, Gus and the baby will be 2.75 years apart, but 2 school years apart. Yes, I planned that so we'd get in school before the mIssouri cut off of August 1.

Hey!
Ok, my numbers were up in the 400's. The Dr seemed very happy with that. I'm going back tomorrow for more bloodwork. I'll be on progesterone gel for the first trimester if all goes well. I feel drained at this point. Last week at this time I thought I was about to miscarry.
I will not tell my dd until after 12 weeks. She was just heartbroken over last summer's miscarriage.
I really appreciate all the support I have been given here and hope to get to know each of you.
Susan

Susan yeah on your numbers!! I am so happy for you:)

Melanie- I ordered ASC3. I really enjoy Amy Bento. I think we are done with the 3 boys but you never know I overheard my dh talking to friend saying he isn't sure if we are done.

Kate- I have the same problem with my 4yr old he is still the baby so I carry him everywhere.

Morris- I am impressed how long you were able to run. I already stopped b/c of all the pressure and switched to the elliptical.

Has anyone started buying stuff for the baby yet? I'm sure you have Morris since your baby is almost here! I bought a onesie at Gymboree that says "little brother" and a gown with a hat they are so tiny I am so excited to have another little one.

Hello to everyone else and have a good day!

Candra

Hi I think the daily thread is a very good plan.

Lisa--How funny! I was a total Metallica/Megadeth fan also. (Still an occasional guilty pleasure), but mostly I listen to classical music now. I want the kids to develop a taste for it whilst they are young--then they can branch out.

Kate--interesting thoughts on the placenta--I can see the wisdom of it, but, well, I just don't think I'm going to eat it. I might be persuaded to swallow a capsule, but I don't think our hospital offers that service:p.

Melanie--She is 2 and 4 months--a little red-headed spit-fire. I hear her upstairs screaming now, so I'll have to make all this short.

Alicia--welcome! I love your signature:)

Susan--good news on the numbers. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Stephanie--I think that trusting God and His purposes is the right focus always. Your baby is probably fine. I understand about being a worry wort, because I'm one too.

Kristan--I preordered both of Amy's new ones. Money is tight, but I could not resist. I need more cardio.

Morris--you may not be running, but your workouts look great.

take care all--

Maggie:)
29 weeks, 2 days

Kristan, I've never seen my placentas - I can't wait to this time!

Susan, I am so excited to hear your good news! no, GREAT news!

Candra, I bought an outfit at BabyGap immediately after my US. Not that we need it with 2 big sisters worth of hand-me-downs but I wanted to!

Maggie, Thninking of your spit-fire makes me smile!

I just did ZenMama yoga dvd. My midwife gave it to me to use. A little passive for me but it was relaxing. I'd prob. use it more in my 3rd trimester. I do need more pg-specific stuff I guess.

off to make lunch...

hi everyone - just got ds for a nap and am hoping to work my legs before i nap. we will see....

welcome alicia! glad to have you. my boobs were terribly sore with ds1. this time around, no pain.

candra, i have not gotten too much new stuff except for my new baby double jogger!!! i love it - it feels like i imagine driving a lexus would. otherwsie plan to do mostly hand-me-downs.

susan, fantastic news!!!

kristan, i agree, amy is churning out those videos. that said, i love her cardio product. i think i will preorder asc3, good for those indoor days. your plannign with kids sounds wise. any trips to the pool this week?

stephanie, i do not think you sound too casual at all. you sound informed and grounded. good for you! when is your next us?

maggie, i think eva sounds too cute. makes me want to see pics.

melanie, i never got into asc1 - just the setting and music or lack thereof bothered me. maybe i will try it tomorrow though, just to see. did you preorder that or her other kb one? i am on the fence on the kb one. in the ring is just so so for me. i prefer the intensity of kbx.

hi jen!

kate, your willpower is something to behold. i bet you will be lucky to gain 10lbs this pregnancy.

uh oh. sounds like ds does NOT want to nap. better go see.

Melanie~lol there was a lot of posting yesterday! I really tried to go as long as I coudl w/out maternity.. blah.. all the stuff is way way too big.. I did get some gap shirts and a few tank tops that seem to be made w/ some spandex or somethign because they are form fitting and not just cotton that hangs at this point.

Kate~what all is going on on Weds? It is bittersweet to have the last day of kindregarten. Hunter's last day is the 13th so we have a few days, but I am still shocked that I am going to have a 1st grader. Glad your seperation isn't very serious.. maybe just the combo of the seperation and stuff shifting around inside is causing the pain? Did she say anything about the pain? Never heard of that w/ the placenta.. interesting though. Sorta lol

Stephanie~I will certainly keep you and your baby in prayer that this cyst is gone at the next u/s. I think you have a great attitude about it all.

Kristan~wow I am very into running and I get runner's world so I have seen those ultra's in there, but man I just couldn't imange running one. I am going back and forth on a marathon.. I love to run, but I don't want to risk injury and I guess the more/further/longer you run the higher risk of knee/ankle/foot issues.. I just want to be able to run till I am like 100.. LOL Very neat that you know someone that runs those!

Susan~that sounds like a good number up from last week! We also didn't tell our children till 14 weeks. I had an u/s at 9 weeks then the appt. at 14 to hear the h/b.. after that we told them. It is actually nice that way because then the time goes faster.. as it is my kids are asking daily how much longer.. LOL

Canda~ I am so jealous!! I love using the elliptical at the gym we used to go to.. it was a great workout, but very little impact so that was great. I have started buying stuff. I love hitting the yard sales to find great deals on namebrand stuff. I got lucky 2 weeks ago and found one w/ a woman how had a girl after there were 8 boys in her family. They all went nuts and bought all this girl stuff and she was getting rid of it really cheap so I got like 20 sleepers/gown/outfits.. I found one that said "my daddy does my hair" I can't wait for dh to see that.

Well my dd had dance class today and so we had to get out of the house early and so I didn't run, but I took the stroller and we stopped at the trail to walk before coming home. Walked 4 miles and man is it stinking hot. This was from 10-11 and it was still hot.. or maybe my tolerance is just lower now.

MOrris, Your stroller sounds amazing. But my willpower sure isn't! Just made oatmeal raisin cookies - I had 2. Oops! But they were low-fat so I count them toward my "health" food!

Trish, Weds just always seem to be crazy for us - not sure why. I'm in shock on the 1st grader thing too - I don't want her gone all day! She said the pain was just because it was new - not to worry unless it continues and y'day and today its much better so hakuna matata! Good for you on the garage sales! LOL on the tee! your walk sounds nice - wish I could get one today.

gotta go do my web class soon - bbl...

Susan--Great news on the numbers!! I think it's smart to wait to tell kiddos. We waited until 11 weeks.

Morris--Next u/s is June 17.

Candra--I've bought stuff already. Pregnancy is a whole new shopping opportunity :). I bought a Christmas outfit for him from Pottery Barn Kids, which was having a sale on baby clothes. I also ordered some Peter Rabbit green toile material for my MIL to make a quilt for the crib (just for decor). And I bought a Peter Rabbit book, which I will cut pages out of and frame for art work in the room (it's a Peter Rabbit room...).

Trish -- I agree with the heat. It's TERRIBLE. It's so muggy down here in Tennessee. But walking 4 miles is great!!

Kate--What Web class are you doing?

Maggie --Thanks for the sweet words, my fellow worry wart. :)

My latest worry: Tomorrow I go to the dentist, and I'm freaking out a bit about that because I usually don't go when pregnant. (I have mitral valve prolapse and have to load up on antibiotics before going and I don't like to do that when pg). But I broke a tooth and have to go. :( Never have I ever broken a tooth and it had to happen now. So anyway, I'm a bit nervous about that. )

OK, I'm psyching myself up to go to the grocery store. We are out of just about everything, but I really don't want to go to the store. Kiddos are a bit wild today. Oh well. Wish me luck!!

Whew! I forgot to subscribe to the post so I didn't get updates & now I'm so far behind!!!1

Alicia, welcome---our babies will be here about the same time!

Morris, I missed your post about your jogging stroller, tell me!!! I preoredered both her new DVDs. I don't have ASC2 down all the way yet.

Yeah Stephanie!!!

Candra, too early to buy anything. If it's a boy we won't need anything. If it's a girl, we can just get stuff then I suppose. I don't know if we'll find out sex (I'm guessing no). A good friend of mine just had a girl & she's done so I can buy second hand from here (all her stuff is brand-name).

Maggie, your little girl sounds so sweet. I bet you have a full house for summer,...or do you home school?

Kate, I heard of this lady who named her girl Placenta after hearing her ob/gyn discuss it. :D :D

Ciao!

~Melanie~
