TTC Check-In Sept 30

Autumn - Sorry about AF. She's a pain. What is the Marquette Model? I think I'll google it. Do they give you specific times and amount to inseminate? Great job with the workouts!

Morris - I got the lab results and my dog does have heartworm. We're going on a trip in a few weeks so we're just starting the initial work up and meds to kill the baby worms and then the next day we get back from our trip we do the first series of treatment with the shot to kill the adult worms. Our vet is dealing with 6 cases of heartworm right now. She said it's unusually high this year. My sister will be watching the dogs while we're gone, but I don't want to put the stress of caring for my dog on treatment while we're gone so we're waiting until we get back. How did your day go today?

I did okay today, but I did eat a plum tonight because it was either that or the chocolate pudding. I'm quite surprised at how my taste for sweets isn't overwhelming as I thought it would be. I did LIC cardio blast today and some pilates. Now I'm off to watch Private Practice.

lisa, sorry to hear about your dog. it sounds like he is in good hands though. keep me posted. i think you did great yesterday!!! i am impressed with the one plum. i did fine yesterday but did have some dried fruit and of course regular fruit. still no chocolate or processed food, though. i am happy with my workouts - lots of runs and gym styles. today i did some kickboxing.

autumn, hope you are feeling better.

wish me luck today everyone. i may post later for moral support:) :)

Lisa, sorry about your dog. I am impressed with your carb intake... mine was terrible... but today is a new day.

Good luck Morris!! We are here for you!

Lisa,
I too, am sorry about your doggie. My last dog had an enlarged heart, and was postulated to be heartworm (was not, congenital). Anyways, glad you caught it right away! Way to go, you're a great dog mommy!

Today is my last day of my 4day stretch at work. I"m beat and looking forward to staying at home for a few days. :D DH is going to old house to rake, mow, and clean up. We'll need to decide if we're going to relist right away or wait until Spring.

My diet is much better. No MD yesterday. I did have a couple double chocolate chip cookies that a co-worker brought in (can I blame her?).

I know my diet is much better, as I have been getting lots of veggies in my diet. I plan to make my Oatbran muffins this weekend...they are my lifesaver in hard times. They are lo-carb. If anyone wants the receipe, e-mail me: [email protected]

How is everyone doing today? Staying strong? Eating clean?

well, so far so okay today. having lots of veggies and lean protien. i ate 4 m and m's (just 4!). i did buy a pumpkin bagel during lunch (my favorites), but i haven't eaten it yet. perhaps i will save it for ds as i know he will love it.:p

melanie, great job with no mountain dews!! and of course, i already e m ailed oyu for the recipe.

hope everyone else is doing well today! bbl

Terrible day for me....came into work and caved into the stress of work and all the things going on with my dog. I had a fruit salad which in itself isn't bad but I'm eating a chicken salad sandwich with regular wheat bread, not whole wheat. With mayo of course.

Lisa

I just ate an oreo cakester....not a good day. :-( x(

Morris - I need an opinion regarding when to start treatment for my dog. My sister isn't able to take the dogs like anticipated and so I spoke with the kennel place this morning. She is a vet asst and felt that I should start any treatment after we get back from our trip because it would be hard to control her heartrate with a new place and other dogs around. This kennel is very popular and has a lot of clients from the same vet office I take my dog to. My vet suggested starting the meds to kill the baby worms, but the kennel would need to keep her calm which might be hard. What do you think I should do? I'm torn!

hi lisa

i am so sorry your day was so rough. i hope today is better. as far as when to start treatment, a lot depends on your dog's personality. is she very hyper? is she very anxious? we like to avoid any stress on patients undergoing treatment to help minimize complications of the dying worms (clots, stroke, etc). killling the baby worms in her blood is not as risky as killling the adult worms, plus, the longer they sit there, the more will be there. i agree with what your doc recommends. if, thoug, your dog is very stressed and anxious and will be boarded for a long time, it might be better to wait. do you think you could just find a house sitter? someone to come in and leash walk your dog to go to the bathroom a few times a day thus alleviating kennel stress? perhaps a tech at your vet's office may do that? it would be nice to start that part of treatment sooner than later. does that help at all?

yestedray ended okay for me. maybe a dozen m and m's, a larabar (raw, no sugar but yummy). i did skip dinner which felt good at the time (my tummy hurt), but was really bad when i tried to run this am. i had no energy and felt really ill but powered thru as it was my first run outside in 3 weeks. now i am still a bit punky but pushing thru a busy day. best news is i take my last sht tonight and should ovulate in the next 24 to 36 hours. tww, here i come!!

Morris - My dog is very hyper. She's an English cocker spaniel. I think I'll go ahead and start killing the babyworms. I'm trying to find a housesitter, but we live far from town where most people work so it's been hard. The lady at the kennel said she's okay with whatever I decide. Yay for ovulating!!!!! Have fun bding (baby dancing) with DH!!!!

Needless to say, my day was horrible yesterday, but I did manage to go for a walk/jog around my neighborhood for 45 minutes. Hope today is better.

Lisa

3 cookies + one MD. Lot of veggies, an apple. Not to bad, but definitely NOT a detox. Sorry, guys!

Ovulating, but no DH

I'm a little grumpy today as my CM is indicative that I"m fertile. DH isn't even here! Oh well, maybe next month.

Do you guys ever feel like you're missing the 'moment'?!?!?!? Nina (aka Morris), I know your hubby travels and you must have to deal with this often? Or not? Just curious!

Another curious thing? Is Nina pronounced nEEna or nEYEna? So inquisitve tonight!

Autumn, cleaner eating today?

Lisa, how doggie doing today? Just ordered the FURMINATOR for Cocoa. Does anyone else have this? We should have a pet introduction!

I have a 1 year old Germain Shephard, Cocoa
and a super soft kitty, Denise
and any other super slimy critter than any of my boys snuck into the house without me knowing. ;)

Okay, I"m getting goofy. Better head off to bed now!

RE: Ovulating, but no DH

glad i am not the only one that had a hard day yestedray. i felt so ill, shaky, like i needed to eat. i had lots of fruits, veg, lean protein, but i caved and got a single serve pack of multigrain rice cakes and ate half a detour bar. i felt better though.

melanie, thanks for the recipie. dark chocolate chips will be a must! and my name is pronounced neena:) you will LOVE the furminator. quite pricey, but so good at taking off the hair. i have a black lab, emma, who is 4, and a cat, dominic, who is 10.

lisa, i think you will be okay with killing the baby worms. when do you leave and how long will you be gone for?

my last injection is done, and i feel very lucky dh is around. melanie, i can understand your frustration. luckily, i have not been cycling, so all those times dh was gone did not affect trying. this last trip we actually froze a sample (i know, take all the fun out of it) just in case. luckily we did not need it. how long is dh gone? hopefully that works with your schedule okay.

i did a shorter run this am, and now i am at work. i am so glad to be outside!! bbl

RE: Ovulating, but no DH

melanie, do you know what "kombacha" is? i drink green tea (caffine free kind) all the time and got some that had kombacha in it by mistake. i looked at the label and it said do not use if pregnant or nursing. what is it? whay would that be? just thought i'd see if you knew anything. thanks!

RE: Ovulating, but no DH

Morris, never heard of it! I did see this website though, http://www.kombu.de/side-eff.htm sounds like it had detoxifiying properties, which would make it a warning to pg/nursing women. Since it's an herb, and not studies by FDA...best to stay away when pg/nursing. ;o)

I wish I could aquire a taste for tea! I have had some Long Island Iced Teas...which are DEFINETLY out when pg/nursing!

RE: Ovulating, but no DH

Melanie - I meant to email you to ask you for the recipe also, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I will though. What is a furmenator? My English Cocker Spaniel is 5 yrs old and black and tan but mostly black. Our other dog is a "Humane Society Special" as DH calls her (we don't know what mix she is, no clue and the vets don't either) and she's 14 yrs old and brown with one white paw. We got her when she was 1 yr old from the pound.

Morris - We start the treatment a week before we leave and we'll be gone for 10 days. So Oct 23 she gets the medication to kill the heartworms and then her real treatment starts on Nov. 12. That's so funny that you guys froze a sample, but I could see how necessary it would be!

Yesterday was ah..okay. I caved into a frozen yogurt. I do notice that I've been eating smaller portions and less throughout the day since my options have been limited! I did a walk/jog again yesterday with my kids. I wish there was somewhere I could go to just take a run that has no downhills. That's what kills my knees and my neighborhood is very hilly so I have to walk the downhills to spare my knees, but hate that it takes my heartrate down.

What is everyone up to for the weekend?

Lisa
