TTC Check-In Sept 2

Thanks you all for your thoughts about my Aunt. It was a tough day, but we got through it and I'm just glad she's in a better place.

Melanie - I guess I'm biased and would LOVE having twins if I had the chance, especially since I don't have any kids yet. I've always wanted 2 and I'll be lucky if I can have 1 now. Complications can be handled these days. I think twins are most prevalent with Clomid and not so much triplets, quads, etc. The percentages for more than 2 aren't that high, but I can see your concerns too.

Also, I loved having my sister to grow up with. We were and are still very close. She did her first triathlon in WI a few weeks ago and I drove there and surprised her on the morning of the race. She started to cry, since I drove 5 hours to see her and almost lost her concentration for the race. It was great to be there to support her!

I actually grew up in DeForest and worked in Madison, WI. Where did you grow up? I went to Stevens Point for college.

Morris - Sorry about the hormone issue. That has to be hard.

Lisa - How's it going this week? Getting some good workouts in? My eating is getting better, but still tough.

Hi Autumn - How are you?

Well, I have chocolate chip cookies in the oven for a girl at work that's leaving my group. Seems I always get heartburn when I eat them. Weird...

Chat soon,
Anne

I always thought twins would be cool too, but having 3 now...that'd be 5 kiddos...all at home!!! THAT scares me!!!!!

I grew up in Kenosha (SE corner along Lake Michigan). Northern WI is beautiful, but I'm not too fond of Kenosha anymore. :( My folks and brothers live there though.

That is so sweet of you to surprise your sister! I don't have any sisters. :( I have four brothers and I'm not close with any of them. Boys don't seem as relational as girls...

Hi ladies! I completed another KB workout yesterday... but nuttin' today. I really need to clean up my diet.

Morris- I thought about the multiples when I was on the follistim... but that worry was lost in my obsession to conceive.

Melanie-did you do the Southbeach diet at one time?

Anne- your sister is blessed. I ALWAYS wanted a sister... but I am my parents only child... thanks to IUI. I do have half-brothers from my dad's previous marriage but we aren't close... their choice not mine. They are several years older and live in California.

Off to watch Big Brother After Dark.

Autumn

Melanie - Are you considering the clomid? I hope and pray that I get pg before the end of the year, but if not, I think I'm just going to accept that I was meant to have two. But, my hopes are that I at least have three.

Anne - Oooh...chocolate chip cookies. That's so neat you have a twin! I always wanted a twin because my sister and I used to fight a lot. We're closer now, but we still have our sister moments. We're very different. We don't even look like siblings.

Morris - I did the Leg Blast premix. I love B&G also. All the mixes. So how does this follistim thing work exactly? Like how do you know when DH needs to make a donation?

Autumn - You're doing great with the workouts this week! Are you doing anything special to conceive or just trying to let nature take it's course?

Okay, for me....I've been eating okay this week, but I ate fried chicken tonight. Yes, fried chicken. No skin and only the breast, but it was still deep fried. And I have a wine tasting thing this weekend. I am going to do a 45 minute workout tonight before I hit the sack though. Oh and I ate a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. The diet really needs to get cleaned up tomorrow. It's so great to be able to "confess" to you ladies, hehe! Hope all you ladies have a great Friday. What are your guys weekend plans?

Lisa

Nothing serious about Clomid. Just a thought for now. ;) We haven't mad a serious effort (very natural) and I'm still nursing Jadon nightly (so that in itself may suppress ovulation). I've had 4 periods since having Jadon, I don't think that's a fair try. But I AM feeling older!!

multiples beyond 2 scare me too. okay, 2 is still kind of scary as well. but, i just have to think positively.

autumn, i didn't know you tried folistim. when? why? are you now?

lisa, what you do is get the injections starting day 1 for 12-16 days - when you have a 14mm follicle, you take something called hcg to ovulate it. then, you get busy 12-24 hrws after the hcg (when you should be ovulating). for me, i don't grow follicles or ovulate them on my own b/c no fsh or hcg.

melanie, it sounds like you have a ways to go to keep trying. that is really great. i know what you mean about feeling older, though.

lisa, great workouts, and your eating does not sound that bad. i am really trying hard to eat well, and eat less. i must admit, though, i feel a bit stressed overall. also, dh is going away again next week - to the philippines. lets hope this is a smooth, easy trip.

any fun weekend plans for people? we are going to bar harbor which is up the coast of maine by a national forest that has great bikibg and walking trails. we are going for 2 nights. i am very excited!!

Lisa- We aren't using meds. If it happens great... if not that is ok too. I am disappointed that it hasn't happened but not the feelings I had before my two kiddos... very, very different.

Morris- The follistim was in 2004. We weren't successful on the meds but conceived the first cycle after discontinuing treatments. We did various combos. Clomid/HCG, Clomid/follistim/HCG, etc. HCG is the hormone produced in pregnancy by the placenta. It is similar to LH which is the hormone that triggers ovuation. I can't... no I don't want to do treatments again. It wipes me out emotionally. Maybe it would be different without all the other stuff I had going on during the last round of treatments. Oh and those u/ses... I told the tech I felt like I needed to smoke after the u/s. :)

I am going to hear Dr. William Sears speak this evening... pretty exciting... granted I am a big nerd and love lectures. :)

Talk at ya later!

Morris - Sounds like you have fun plans this weekend. I'm going to a food/wine sample tasting at the hotel/beach/golf course that is about 10 minutes from my house. It's normally $75/person, but DH got free tickets so my friend and I are going for free! DH will be working for his friend there as a favor.

Autumn - Hope you enjoyed your seminar/lecture. You're too funny about the u/s. So you have two kids?

Melanie - I know exactly what you mean because the thought of fertility drugs did cross my mind, but never serious enough to really consider.

Hi Anne, Jen! I hope you're doing okay Jen!

Today was an awful day at work. My boss flipped out at me and our GM. He's been snappy for awhile now, but today he went overboard. He started cussing, slamming doors, punching walls, and throwing things. He apologized, but I wanted to give him a piece of my mind. The funny thing is I don't think he even knows why he flipped out. Anyway, no workout today, but lots of shopping. I needed retail therapy. I did buy a 12-piece stainless steel cooking set for $39.99 on sale from $100! Better get going. It feels like I'm coming down with a cold and I'm not missing tomorrow night!

Lisa

lisa, i am all for retail therapy. speaking of which, i think i will get hst. anone have any thoughts on that workout? sorry you had such a bad day at work. your evening plans sound like a lot of fun. i went to dinner with a girlfriend last night, and it was soooo nice. nothing fancy foodwise, but 1hr of uninterrupted focused conversation was great.

autumn, the infertility treatment is hard. and i hate the us's too, but i don't know. i just always wanted more htan one baby. my little guy is so amazing - i adore him. and if i cannot have more, that is okay. but i need to give it a try.

melanie, how is work going these days?

Dr. Sears was FANTASTIC!!! The business I am involved with sponsored his event... but it was all about nutrition. If you ever want a crash course on eating, go listen to him. It was awesome. He talked about metabolic programing, terrible threes (bad food), good carbs vs. bad carb, Omega 3's (helps with depression) the list goes on. He and his wife signed books afterwards. He is so sincere and caring. I talked to them briefly about our potty training issues. Great people!

Morris, I always wanted 2 kids. It was worth everything we went throug to have our two. I just don't have it in my for #3, so nature will have to take its course. I suspect there are several factors influencing our decision (age, etc.). I didn't mean to sound so negative... just explaining where we are and why. It wasn't just the infertility treatments we had going on... grieving the miscarriage and 3 deaths all within one year. It wiped me out emotionally. KWIM?

Well, I ate very well until last night... following a lecture on nutrition... I ate mexican. :9 But today is a new day!
