Trying to put on muscle/however:

Okay, heres the deal for the last 2 1/2 months I have beeen trying to put my focus on gain muscle thereby limiting my cardio. I'm down to 20 - 30 minutes 4- 5 times a week. Now, with this said ofcourse I'm going to end up putting on some weight, here's the deal. I was such a petite person to begin with the extra weight is freakin me out a little. I'm trying not be be frightened by it, our society is so size driven. My goal is to continue this a few months longer and then in the spring amp up the cardio. Oh by the way I'am trying to lift heavier than usual. So all you girls who went this route, how did you fair after trying something like this? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry it's so long.

Actually, lifting heavier and focusing more on weights has made me more lean and sculpted than I have ever been. I aim for 3-4 days of cardio of about 30-45 min a piece. I vary up the cardio & weight routine every few weeks. I also include at least 1 day of HIIT in there.

Google. It is there for a reason.

This is what I'm going to do as well. I much prefer lifting to straight up cardio and I don't want my body to adjust to an insane amount of cardio. I think 30 min. of cardio 3 X a week will be my plan followed by heavy weight training and then 2 circuit days. Hope it works! I'm also going to check out the rotations for something along this line. Let me know if you find a rotation that works for you. Good Luck!

Heavy lifting + less cardio + eating clean = AWESOME RESULTS!!!!

For me anyway!

Don't give up so fast!

It takes time but works for alot of people.

You may have to make adjustments here and there.

In the end perhaps you will not like the results depending upon how you put muscle on and how much but don't be afraid to try it!:)

Isn't lifting like this exactly what the new 4DS workouts offer? 30 minutes cardio followed by a challenging weight routine?:) I am lovin' it personally.

I'm actually trying to stay in the rep amount of 8-10 maximum, heaviest weight. I think Cathe is going for 12 reps on a lot of these. I'm thinking more like P90X. So, I going to try and tweak my cardio a little and see how that goes. Thanks for the replies.

OK I've been wanting to respond to this but I wanted to think about it before I did.

First of all, we're all different & our bodies will respond differently to different routines.

Second, you have to prioritize your goals. Is being slimmer your primary goal, or is putting on muscle? As much as I love weight lifting and, well, don't much love cardio, burning fat is more important to me than putting on muscle. So I'll continue to do about 45 minutes cardio 5-6 times a week no matter what. I think I've done OK with strength building, but the truth is I'm kind of small & will never be VERY muscular. But if I want definition it's very important to me not to skimp on cardio. Your muscles will always be there regardless of their size. However you won't be able to see them unless your bodyfat is low.

Third, how's your diet?
