Trying to decide about Gym Membership

Well, the old gym membership is up for renewal. I'm not sure what to do. I haven't been using it since I started working out at home and working the second job, but I really liked my gym and I do not have access to a treadmill or elliptical machine at home. Maybe I should start making myself go again at least for the cardio? It's only $25 a month??? I'm so torn....

My vote is that you renew and see how it goes. It may be good if you start feeling burn out at home or as you said, if you need to do some low impact cardio (elliptical). Sometimes I get lonely at home. You may suddenly get into cardio coach or itrain and decide you need the treadmill.

But the real reason I've responded is to tell you that I love your doxies. Very, very cute.

Only $25???!!! Go for it! My gym membership is $84/month (it's a city gym--outrageous, I know) and I'm debating whether or not to renew for the same reasons. But if it was only $25 a month, it'd be a no-brainer for me!

Lol, thanks! Those are my babies! :)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I am going to go ahead and renew! :)

Definitely renew it. $25 a month is a great price (like Allison, I pay about $85) & it's nice to have the option.

I had this same dilemma. I just barely signed up at the gym; It wasn't a renewal but 1st time. They had a really good deal and I am a SAHM which my 1 1/2 year old girl could use some social interaction with other people so I did it. I still exercize at home to Cathe just cause I won't get that type of training anywhere else but I did a yoga class today with two other friends and had a ball. I think as long as you go once or twice a week you get your money's worth. You should do it. If anything for a change in your exersize routine so you don't get bored doing the same thing. $25 isn't a lot for a gym membership. Usually they are $60 a month with a sign on bonus. Luckily my gym was having a deal $10 sign up fee with a 90 day commitment, $30 a month so it came to $100.00 Good luck making your decision.;-)

It's always nice to have a gym membership even if you don't use it a lot. Mine costs only $68.00 at YEAR to renew, so I'd be nuts not to keep it. And it's a very big, nice gym with lots of stuff about a 10-15 minute drive from home.

>$25 a month? Yeah, I'd totally renew that!!! That's a
>steal. :)

Yeah, I am very lucky with that rate. The gym partnered with my company on a fitness intiative we were pushing and offered us that low rate if we had a certain number of people sign up. It was only supposed to last a year, but they are offering it to me for a second year and on top of that, they are going to take $3 off per month if I sign up for EFT. So actually, I would only be paying $22 a month if I do that. Think I will run over there today and renew it.

I've been in that situation before too. I don't really need access to the gym except for my occasional treadmill workouts. I've come up with a great solution that may be something you could do as well. I just pay for each time I visit the gym. The university where I work has a great rec center and they only charge me $4 per visit. There's also a Gold's Gym in town and they offer 1-day passes too. I think they charge $7 per visit. I love having this option. I can go to the gym when I need to, it's cheap, and I don't need to pay for something I only need to use sometimes. Maybe this would work for you???
