Tried out Christi Taylor- she's no Cathe!

I have all but the newest Christi workouts and have concluded they are more brain challenging than muscle challenging. Cathe's are harder endurance-wise, but Christi's are more difficult mentally. I like her stuff for "just fun" days when i feel like dancing.

I have both of Seasun's and highly recommend them both! Best choreography of the year so far!

I agree with the mental challenge. I did Christi's video again today. I told myself I would not give up no matter what. I held on til the end but was very frustrated and felt her workout wasn't for me. I then put in MIC Step portion. :) I don't know if I'll try another of her step videos or not. Cathe has me hook, line and sinker!:D Susan

RE: Diane Sue?

Hi Aila,

I just got Seasun's new workout, and I am finding it much harder than Cathe's. I was wondering if you (or anyone else who has done Seasun's workouts) would suggest buying her previous one (Rock, Steady, Step?) to catch on to her style. If it's a little more basic, then it might help me.

I am finding that she changes directions and reverses movements almost immediately after she's introduced them. Maybe I need to actually watch it a couple of more times to get the hang of it. I just had to get a new workout to tide me over until the new Hardcore series comes out.

Any suggestions would be great!

RE: Diane Sue?

Hi Sandra,

I did own Rock Steady Step prior to her new workout and agree that I was already familiar with her style. I think that RSS is a little bit easier to pick up, so I would suggest trying it. It is a lot of fun too.

Aila:)

Those of you that have Seasun's new one, doesn't all that turning get you dizzy? I thought I would like this one more but all that turning is driving me crazy. I have to change some of the moves when I do this one. I have done this a few times now. The second portion confuses me a little. Maybe it will grow on me. Everyone raves about it so maybe I'm the oddball on this.

RE: Diane Sue?

Amen to what you said StepQueen! I purchased Christi Taylor's Solid Gold Step several months ago and was very disappointed. I have all of Cathe's tapes so I can do advanced workouts, but Christi's choreography was too complicated, and I think it's mainly because her cueing is so awful. I think if Cathe had that very same tape I wouldn't be frustrated because she makes sure you know what's coming next so you don't trip over your feet. Also, I found in this particular tape Christi just has too many people exercising with her - it's a virtual crowd and makes it more confusing when you're trying to learn new steps. I know some of them were there doing her "modifications" but it was impossible to focus on that in my opinion. I know I'm probably being harsh and that there are obviously a lot of people out there who just love Christi, but I feel like nobody is better than Cathe. And, now that she has some beginner and intermediate tapes everyone can do her workouts with confidence.:) :)

I am sorry you did not enjoy Solid Gold Step. Christi's workouts are a lot different than Cathe's, for sure. I personally love Christi's "watch me" style of cueing. Christi is my favorite instructor for hi/lo. My second favorite for step. Cathe is 1st for step!

Maybe you should consider some of her hi/lo. It is good to alternate with your step workouts. Once you get her moves down pat, you will have a good hard workout.

Sigh.....I am so ready for Hardcore!!! You know!!!

Hi Fab40,

You are not alone!
The thing I discovered about the turning (especially in the first part) is not to watch her but just turn the way you think you should go. Pretty soon you will find it "flows" quite well, I think.

The second part still has me in spots, and I pride myself on getting everything the first time around! I think I would suggest that Seasun wear white shoes as a help. I have a hard time "seeing" what her feet are doing on the black surface, but that could be just me.
We will both persevere!

I agree about the white shoes!! I get a little tripped up after the tip toe combo in the second half of the workout. The footwork is a little hard to get IMO.

I have tried her hi/lo workouts and yes, I did like them much better. I probably will stick to those. Thanks for the advice- Susan
