Tricky Choreography

Which cardios, including interval cardios have the trickiest footwork? I am new to Cathe and don't want to start with these. Thank you in advance for your help :)

I'd say Rhythmic Step and Step Blast have the most complicated choreography. The simplest choreography, at least in terms of step routines, is Interval Max (on the same DVD as Rhythmic Step); I-Max 2 is a tad more intricate, and I-Max 3 is a tad more intricate still. There's a whole slew of step workouts in between in terms of choreo-complexity; hopefully others will weigh in here with their opinions.

i agree that rhythmic step and step blast are a little tricky. many from my exercisevideos groups says IMAX3 is a bit tricky as well. Imax is not tricky at all and IMAX2 is a little more but not to hard to catch on. Low Max has some tricky moves but is fairly easy to catch on. i believe some one mentioned that the Classics DVD has less tricky choreography but they are older videos. Basic Step pretty much speaks for itself on that. The Step portion of Body Max is intense but not hard to pick up at all, the same with the step portion of Maximum Intensity Cardio(one same dvd as IMAX and Rhythmic Step).

Is Step Works trickier than RS? I see it's considered more intense but didn't know if that meant the footwork

No, SW is not trickier than RS (which is THE most complex of Cathe's step workouts, IMO). SW is intense because there are a lot of power moves. However, it is not difficult to learn, and as one of Cathe's earlier workouts, is broken down to a far greater degree. Your best starting points are probably Cardio Hits or The Classics, if you don't mind the dated sets - the workouts are awesome and are good intros to Cathe's style.

Good luck!

Thank you Marie. I was having trouble deciding between CH & The Classics. I think I'm going to get both and start with The Classics. I asked for The Classics for my birthday (40th on the 30th) and buy CH for myself. Thank you all for all your help ;)

Next, you'll have to help me choose a circuit w/o. I have BF and don't care for it. It's too easy and I don't like the tubing as much as dumbells. So, where do I go from there?

If Body Fusion is too easy for you, then for a circuit workout your choices are pretty broad:

High Step Challenge
High Step Training Advanced
Circuit Max
The Terminator DVD (2 of the 3 workouts are circuit-style with compiled footage from the other Intensity Series workout)
Cardio+Weights
Step Jump Pump
Hard Core Extreme (a compilation DVD from cardio and weight footage from Hard Core series)

With most of these you'll get another workout on the same DVD. Any of these will be good total-body circuit workouts for you.

Rhythmic Step is tricky, but the workout is so much fun that I think is worthwhile to take the time to learn the choreography. Imax 2 is easier but much more intense. When I first ordered Low Max, it took me a while to learn it, but it was my first Cathe tape.

Powermax is my favorite step workout and Cathe breaks it down more, so is easier to learn. It's on the Cardio Hits DVD. Step Fit and Step Works are fun too. Step Works is a faster tempo, and would probably be the last one to conquer on the DVD.

For circuit, I would suggest Cardio and Weights. The step segments are fun, fun, fun! And since they are short, it seems more learn-able and do-able. Good upper body work on this one too. IMAX2 is on the same DVD and is an interval workout that is motivating because of the music. Of the others that A-Jock listed, the easier ones would be Step, Jump, and Pump (on same DVD as Step Blast) and High Step Challenge.
