treadmill programs for a newbie

Hi Everyone!

I finally bought a treadmill and I'm so excited to receive it next week! Yippee! I conducted a search in the 'rotations' forum for any treadmill rotations and found one interval-style treadmill rotation from Cathe that I *really* need to work my way up to... :D

Does anyone have suggestions where I can find some running programs, esp. interval training programs, for a beginner/intermediate... i.e. I can comfortably run a 5k outdoors in about 30 minutes...

I'll print out Cathe's rotation and put it on my fridge as a goal, but I think that I'd die if I tried it now... LOL! :p

Take care and keep up the hard work!

Hi Chicagojen, Have you heard of Runervals? They are great treadmill workouts on vhs or DVD. The first one (Easy Intervals) is the only one that I can do as is, but it is very challenging. I think if you can run 3 miles at 30 min. it would be perfect, but still challenging for you now. The other 2 are alot more difficult, but something you might work up too. I like them but have to modify, modify, modify.:D They are a little pricey, but sometimes on sale at nashbar.com So, I recommend the first 'Easy Interval' one.

Also, if you like HIIT (high intensity interval training) here is another option for you. This is what I just started this week. I just tack it on to what ever workout I'm doing 3 times a week.

Sunnyside - thanks for the musclemedia site. I will also start adding this on 3 times a week. Seems easy enough since you start at 4 minutes and go from there.

Thank you so much for the great information! :) I think that I will try the HIIT, too. That looks challenging, yet do-able.

Take care and have a great weekend!:7
