Travis Eliot's The Ultimate Yogi (12 DVD set) reviews please

janiejoey - So did you get to try out the program? what do you think?

I've missed a couple days, overall though it's really good, very challenging sometimes, and I get more out of it each week. I have to say though, I've found myself missing the weights. I think I'll keep with it through the winter.

112toGuru, just noticed today your message, sorry about that. I love the fact you are doing only yoga during the Winter. Please let me know how it is without lifting weights during this time. Are you gaining muscles? Are you staying at your weight or losing what you want? Is there a feeling of well being?...Please report back.

What I'm doing is a 6.5 months STS rotation and between the weight lifting days I'm doing The Ultimate Yogi. I think this combination is so perfect for me. During my active recovery I plan on doing TUY Series everyday. Should be finished with this blended rotation during the Spring about the time I turn 63. Even then I'm pretty sure yoga will be in my rotations from here on out.

They are challenging for sure and I rely heavily on modifying them in hopes one day I can do them better. The sad thing is when I was even 10 years younger I was able to do all those poses. With trembles, but none the less did them. Then stopped the practice thinking weight lifting was better. Had to do the newest and most popular ways of exercises out there. I failed to realize that yoga should have stayed in my regime. There might have been less injury if I had. Anyhoo, what's important now to me, is I'm combining the two and so far so good. It might come to be one day that yoga will surffice anything out there. For me.

Take care,

Janie

Actually, I'm running regularly with UY, I cut back in October, just when the new Cathe's came out, I knew I would want those later on, I could just tell by the descriptions I was going to really like them (so I splurged instead of picking them up one at a time later) for a while there it was all I could do not to pull out Rockout Knockout everyday.

I follow the weekly schedule with UY, if I miss a day here or there I just leave it and continue on, the way the UY weekly schedule is set up fits the way I schedule running, and I'm just now starting to get back to a regular volume there. Last winter I did P90X the same way, but I had much less running volume with that, it was hard to combine those fully.

The P90X yoga was good, and long, so I got better as time went on. I had a nasty habit of tweaking things whenever I've tried yoga in the past, I knew to take it easy there. I couldn't do any of that stuff, even as a kid. I can't do some things but overall it makes a big difference, I almost thought I'd try doing just one disc everyday for a week when I finish the 108 days. (there's a whole season of yoga right there) I think I'll keep it in rotation too, but I would benefit with Gym Styles UB, or upper body Pyramid at least twice a week. Maybe by the 1st of the year I'll get it sorted. She has so many good UB & higher rep w/o.

UY could be a stand alone program, it does seem to get more challenging week to week and could be very challenging by itself. I like running though, so I'll probably keep alternating things with that.
