Hi Girls! I'm borrowing my words of wisdom today from Kipling. "What you do when you don't have to determines what you will be when you can no longer help it."
My birthday is this week so I guess I've got age on the brain. Happily at almost 47, I'm healthy and all of my parts still work reasonably well. But, for me anyway, this quote makes me think of more than just the physical choices that I make. I made up my mind before DH's reunion that I wasn't going to retreat into a corner. I talked to so many interesting people. I love hearing people's life stories. They ranged from lives of military service, divorce, illness, a musician on Broadway, 2nd marriage to a man 10 years younger(Good for her!) succesful careers, not so successful careers, prison for embezelment..... DH and I sat at a dinner table with the ex football star, the ex baseball star and the mentally challenged couple who married in high school. Pretty interesting. I guess my point here is I could have stayed in a comfortable little group of friends and 10 years ago I probably did. I think I've learned that what people really want is to be accepted. We're not very different in that respect. So my goal this week is to show interest in everyone I meet. It may not be any more that a smile and how are you, but you never know when it will make a difference. Didn't mean to preach a sermon here, y'all cut me some slack on my birthday week.
I played tennis today for almost 2 hours. It was great. My thighs are still sore from my SS FIU tape. Have a great day.
Gloria
