TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE 7/14-7/20

Gloria

Cathlete
Hi Girls! I'm borrowing my words of wisdom today from Kipling. "What you do when you don't have to determines what you will be when you can no longer help it."

My birthday is this week so I guess I've got age on the brain. Happily at almost 47, I'm healthy and all of my parts still work reasonably well. But, for me anyway, this quote makes me think of more than just the physical choices that I make. I made up my mind before DH's reunion that I wasn't going to retreat into a corner. I talked to so many interesting people. I love hearing people's life stories. They ranged from lives of military service, divorce, illness, a musician on Broadway, 2nd marriage to a man 10 years younger(Good for her!) succesful careers, not so successful careers, prison for embezelment..... DH and I sat at a dinner table with the ex football star, the ex baseball star and the mentally challenged couple who married in high school. Pretty interesting. I guess my point here is I could have stayed in a comfortable little group of friends and 10 years ago I probably did. I think I've learned that what people really want is to be accepted. We're not very different in that respect. So my goal this week is to show interest in everyone I meet. It may not be any more that a smile and how are you, but you never know when it will make a difference. Didn't mean to preach a sermon here, y'all cut me some slack on my birthday week.

I played tennis today for almost 2 hours. It was great. My thighs are still sore from my SS FIU tape. Have a great day.

Gloria

Great topic, Gloria. Your DH's reunion sounded like a big success, I'm glad that you had a good time. Like Abe Lincoln said, most people are as happy as they decide to be.

Let me be the first to wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I'm doing better with my workouts, still the diet is a challenge. I got a great pair of tights that have sewing details that give knee & hamstring support. Plus they look very good :) These are the perfect Cathe pants- I can do moderate impact with no pain (knock wood...) On that end, tonight's workout is that dreaded Step & Intervals. I may even do the 2nd & 3rd interval instead of just doing power 7's. This is the last week of the CTX rotation, so I want to be sure to do them the best I can.

Have a great bastille day, everyone!

Hi ladies,
I missed you all very much. Hope you are all doing fanstastic.

Gloria, A Very Happy Birthday to you! May your dreams come true.

I LOVE your topic (as I always have!). What a word of Wisdom. And how true! How cool about your DH's reunion, and you deciding to talk to people. I must do that more often. People really love to be accepted as they are. Don't we all?!

Otisan, it's always wonderful to read your posts. I am so happy you are doing great at your exercise. I am sure with your determination and strength the diet part gets easier too. That diet part IS quite a challenge!

Also Big waves to all: Janice, Robyn, Juli, FS.

My exercise is going as usual. I am adding jumping rope for my aerobics and I love it! I am on my third week of MFH, so I'll be doing cardio along with PH, ME, MIS, 100 reps this week. I am also doing Bun & Thigh Rocker. I love that too! (I must be very easily pleased!!!)

I'll be checking in more often. You ladies have a lot of power.
Have a great day.

Gloria-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Glad you had so much fun at reunion! Birthdays make you really think about what's important in life don't they?

I sure was glad to see Bita and some of the others are coming back here. Big wave to Bita!

I did Firm's TAM this AM. WHEW! tough tape to me.

I caved and bought the Slim Series. I HAD the Slim in 6 but traded them. TOO Easy! Have a great week all....Janice

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLORIA!!! Any special plans?Enjoy yourself.Did Body Sculpting this morning.I got Susan's new tape yesterday.Looks like a toughie.Might do that one Thursday morning. Can you believe it has been 17 years since Susan made vol 1.I started firming in 89.Firming has been part of my life for 15 years.Slowly, working myself back to Cathe.I'll be back to normal in a couple of weeks.Focusing on getting back to my normal "healthy"eating habits. Not,going to torture myself anymore.

BFI,nice to see you.Tell fitdoc&them we said "hi".We miss you guys.

Hi girls,

Thanks for the Birthday wishes. We'll be going to my favorite Italian restaurant tomorrow night to celebrate. I've got to save up my calories tomorrow!

Bita! It's so good to hear from you. I know how you busy you are so just check in when you can. What a string of workouts you have planned for the week!

Janice, Janice, Janice, just couldn't resist the SS. LOL, I was the same way. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Otisan, S&I is a toughie isn't it. Still, I think I prefer it to LL. That one kills me. I love All Step though. So, how's the wedding dress coming? How about honeymoon plans?

FS, we really can be guilty of torturing ourselves sometimes. Most of the time I'm content with the moderation approach to diet and exercise. But every now and then I feel compelled to try that crazy diet that promises the world. I always seem to come back to the low fat, low(but not too low) calorie, whole foods approach with a few fun foods every so often for variety. It's not perfect but I can live with it. Hang in there.

Have a great evening.

Gloria

Hey everyone :)

Gloria glad the reunion went well. Sounds like you did the perfect thing - congrats for mingling with so many folks.

Bita - Nice to see you around again

Hi to Janice, Juli, FS too. It's really nice to see that at least a core group of us are sticking with it. We are a great bunch :)

Ran this am - I'm really feeling good... and because I'm SO BUSY at work ALREADY ;) it's a great stress buster!

Have a great week all.

- robyn

Hi girls. Robyn-You're right about the stress relief! Don't know how I'd cope without it now that I'm hooked on the endorphins.

I did Vol#6 today and TAM yesterday. My "30 something" group from the ya yas are doing the same workouts for 6 weeks to see if it makes a big difference. It's really FUN to all do the same workouts. We're doing 3 HEAVY weight days and 3 cardio days for 6 weeks. I'm really enjoying it.

Gloria-I'm glad you had such a good time. So you caved on the SS too??? I tried but couldn't help it as I've read such good things RE:RESULTS!!

Hi Bita-Tell Ms. Fitdoc that she's missed!! here.

Hi there Firmscorpio-You sound so good! I'm so glad!

Hi to Otisan, Juli, and anybody I've missed. Have a great week. Janice

Hi Everyone,
I agree, we are a GREAT bunch! We keep getting better, too.

Last night I did Step Circuit in its entirety. All those jumps, all those circuits, all those planks, egads! My face was still red when I woke up this morning!! S&I looks like a walk in the park compared with SC.

Someone on the Cathe site mentioned eating carbs before a workout to increase power. That worked well with S&I and it helped a little with SC. But that's bad news! I'm trying to cut down on carbs! Where else can I get my energy from?

Tonight's workout is kickbox with both biceps & triceps. I've decided not to do 10-10-10 this week because it always conflicts with Kickbox. So that's the end of CTX. My next 28-day challenge will be the same format as CTX, but with various 60-minute cardios paired with one bodypart per day from PS. Tomorrow I'm planning for PS legs. That one doesn't kill me like LL does.

Janice, I miss doing workouts with you! Once the wedding dress rotation is done, we're going to have to start working out together!

Bita, jumping rope is a killer exercise! Once on vacation I packed a jumprope and a dynaband. I thought I could jump for 1/2 hour, but only managed 10 minutes!

FS, I started firming in '89 also! Who was your first, Suzan or Janet? I started with V2 and loved it, there was nothing on the market like the Firm. Hope you love your new Suzan tape, you'll have to give us a breakdown of it.

Gloria, How was your birthday dinner? I hope it was enjoyable. How is the weather by you? The weather channel has been posting some hair-raising scenes of rivers that have jumped their banks. Please be careful & keep dry!

Robyn, I'm so glad that you are doing well with your new job. Exercise definitely keeps the stress at bay. I also used to notice when I ran, I was able to solve every problem I had because it really helped me focus. It looks like you're having the same insight. Good luck!

Waves to everyone! Have a great Thursday!

Happy Belated Birthday Gloria! I love to see people with positive attitudes about birthdays. The "woe is me, I'm getting older" types drive me crazy. I think most of that type most not exercise, or they'd hardly be able to tell the difference. I'm turning 46 this year in October.

It's really good to see the core group and to hear you're all doing well. I've been bad about posting because I have my hands full with a very sick kitty (Peaches). She is battling a sudden liver disease and it's rather serious. I still keep working out even though a lot of it has been walking at Sharon Woods. It's been way too nice to be inside. I've committed myself to more golf practice now that I'm done with the basement.

Talk with y'all later.

Juli

Hi ladies,
Hope you are having a great day.

Juli, best of wishes for your little Peaches. Hope she gets well soon.

Today, I did the 2nd half of Imax2, 15 minutes of Cardio Cut Fx, BTR, and rebounding.

You guys have a wonderful rest of the day.:)

p.s. I gave the message of hellos and missing her to our fitdoc and she sent her ((((hugs)))) to you.

Hello everyone!

Bita - It's so nice to see you here again. So glad you said hello to fitdoc and she sends us hellos :) I do miss her.

Juli - SO sorry to hear about your little Peaches. That was the name of the cat I great up with kindergarten through college :) Oh gosh I have to admit now that I'm a cat person we adopted a cat today. She is SOOO sweet. She's semi feral - very shy but I think we can work with you. Sending good vibes to you and Peaches

Hey Otisan - nice to hear from you too

Hi FS - how do you like the Susan tape. Yep I too started out with her back in 1991 I think it was! Good for you about your healthy attitude of getting back but not going insane about it.

Janice sounds like a great workout. So what week are you on. What results are you seeing?

Otisan - Good to hear from you. Sounds like a good 28 day workout. Let us know how it goes

I'm in my running thing - should be 4 days this week. It's really been good and yes it does help me solve all life's issues! It does help with focusing.

Have a great weekend all

Hello all,

It's great to see everyone checking in this week. I'm still on my SS rotation. I did MIU today which is the easiest imo. I think next week I'm going to rotate with some Cathe's. Maybe CTX. Just gonna play around with it for awhile.

Thanks for the birthday wishes this week. I had a great day. I treated myself to a video (How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days) during the middle of the day! Cute movie, by the way. We went out and ate Italian - delicious! I even had the spumoni(sp?) for dessert. Got lots of fun presents - our family is birthday nuts.

Otisan, the weather here is just plain hot and humid. A great place to grow a nice crop of mildew. We've never been flooded but we did move out about 10 years ago when the river flooded. The officials miscalculated and told lots of folks to get out when we didn't really have to. Many of the homes close to the river were flooded though. Since then I've been sure to keep all of my pictures and family videos in one spot for quick loading. Hope I never have to do that again. Thanks goodness for farmer friends with big peanut trucks!

Have a great weekend girls!

Gloria

Happy bday Gloria! NIce you celebrated!

Did 4 days running this week - may start S&H next week - been a nice week at work :) Kids doing great (except for son's broken collarbone) - got 3 compliments this week - people were suprised I was old enough to have kids 14 and 17 :)

Have a great weekend all

Hi ladies. I've just been reading last week's posts. Everyone sounds good.

Otisan-I miss us working out together too. Just say the word. I did TT2 this AM.

Robyn-We're on week 3 now. I'm seeing tighter muscles and I don't weigh very often so don't know about the weight thing. I'll weigh when we're finished with our 6 weeks. It's fun to all be doing ti together.

Juli-Sorry about the sick kitty. FS and I both lost beloved kitties last year. PAIN! I can't bring myself to get another one for a LONG time. Too many tears!

Hi Bita! Thanks for giving our love to fitdoc. We all miss her.

FS-I LOVE!! the new Susan tape. reeminds me of Vol#1.

Have a great week all.....Janice
