TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE 4/21-4/27

Hi!
Hope you are doing wonderful.

Janice, my apologies for not asking about how your DH's knee was. I hope he feels tons better and back to normal REAL FAST. That's no fun! And I hope you like the fat flush. Just a suggestion though, you might not want to take it word for word. At least for me, when I want to follow something so closely, I rebel more. I hope I am making sense. For example, if she says "buy such and such things because the ones in super markets are not as good", I believe it lowers the person's compliance . Just take it easy and try to see the principle of it, so you are not dependent on the book. Maybe I am talking too much!!!

Fitdoc, I hope you like the slim series and find them challenging enough.

FS, Congrat on your nice new car. New cars are SO fun! I love the smell of their interior!!! Enjoy!

Juli, date night, prayer group?... Sound like FUN type of hectic. Hang in there.

Warm hellos to all my friends.

I did the Slim series, "Firm it up" today. The concentration of it is lower body. It's about 58 minutes. Almost half of it is standing and heart pumping leg work. Lots of squating and kicking in a very controlled manner. Can use ankle weights and DB which make it amazingly tough. The last half is floor work, glutes and abs. Lots of squeezing and tightening. I liked it quite a bit. I can see how with no to light weight and high repetition, it can really tighten things up. Debbie goes around sometimes and corrects the forms which I find quite helpful. Much body awareness. Her knowledge of anatomy might be a little shaky, but not bothersome!!!
So far so good!
Then I did stretch part of precision pilates, only 15 minutes, but felt good.

You guys have yourselves a healthy, peaceful, great and productive day. :)

Bita, the FIRM classic where Janet Jones-Gretzky says "bicept" cracks me up everytime!

"The biceps and triceps muscles of the upper arm and quadriceps muscle of the leg are often misspelled and mispronounced. The words "biceps", "triceps", and "quadriceps" are all singular nouns. (The words mean that each muscle has two, three, or four "heads", respectively.) The words "bicep", tricep", and "quadricep" are all incorrect. Spelling the words with the addition of a "t", as in "bicepts", is also incorrect." (from Biology 109)

Hope everybody has a great weekend. I've got new potting soil and new flowers - so I'll be busy:D

Hi!
Hope your day is beautiful.

Fitdoc, I noticed that too, about the wrong saying of the biceps!! Your English (in addition to many other fantastic qualities and knowledge that you have)is AWESOME and EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE!! I wish I had the liberty to catch people on their wrong language use! ;) (English being my second language, I am still learning a lot and have WAAAAYS to go!)
[You guys probably have noticed my wrong spellings (of course, that's partly due to writing fast and not re-reading it for corrections) and my weird grammer! But I try to make things clear! Thank goodness you ladies are so forgiving and ignore my false. Please keep being forgiving, OK?!!!!Thank you!:)]

OK, I did the Slim Series "Mix it Up". And liked it very much. This one got me pouring sweet within 15-20 minutes!! It's about 58 minutes, non stop, and covers almost everything! About 21 minutes (they have two timers at the bottom of screen, showing the time remained and the time for the paricular exercise) to the end of the workout the floor work starts.
There is a lot of Triceps work. At some parts they use rubber band, but I used heavier DB, and it worked just fine. My thoughts during w/o were: I love the high reps, I like how simple yet effective the exercises are, there is no tricky move which lowers the risk of injury, this rotation would be so great if followed by Cathe's, I don't mind the music at all, it has a nice beat to it, I don't mind to hear Debbie's breathing!, reminds me of yoga and the breathing awareness!, and MAN! I need a break to take a sip of nice cold water!!! I felt like a good noodle afterward! Then I did the Lotte's method, and I screamed of the contractions of my thigh muscles, they were burning SO GOOD! I LOVED it! }( My 4 y.o. DS was laughing so hard at my struggles and screamings!! (We have taught him to be passionate, I promise!!:))

And talking about the little guy, he fell down yesterday at his school's playground and had couple of lacerations on his lower lip. So I rush him the the ER and DH gave him three stitches. The things that hurt him the most, he said, was the nurse holding him down and another nurse who was holding his head (he had a bump on his head too)! By the way the nurses were WONDERFUL and treated him SO well. He said the shot (novocain) wasn't as bad as his vaccination shots last week! So after a rough day like that I let him laugh at me!!

Ladies, have a wonderful day. :)

Oh Bita, what a bummer for your little guy.:( Is your DH an adult ED doc or a plastic surgeon? The lip is a tricky area to suture. (I'm a starting pediatric ED fellowship at Primary Children's in July.) I am so pleased to hear you are enjoying Slim Series. "Feeling like a good noodle" is one of my FAVORITE THINGS!:D

(BTW, I would NEVER have known that English was your second language. My second language is Spanish and it's so awful it's hilarious. I talk like I'm 3 years old and I can't use past or future tense!)

I've got cardio to do today . . . hmmmmm . . . which one? I'll check in later.

Hi All --

It's a gorgeous day in Cincinnati, so DH and I walked Sharon Woods for our workout. Didn't work out yesterday, we went to the Reds game with some friends. My boss gave me tickets and a parking pass. The new stadium is absolutely awesome. Too bad I can't say the same for the team.

Bita - Hope your little DS has a better day today. Yesterday was a rough one. I, too, was surprised to learn that English wasn't your native tongue. My second language is French. I'm pretty good at it, considering that I didn't start learning until I was 35. I have good reading and listening comprehension. I lack the correct accent to say I'm fluent. When I visit France, native speakers think I'm German.

Today I "transformed" my kitchen. It was driving me crazy. It was too hectic to do anything about it through the week, but I decided that today was the day for a major cleaning. I cleaned and organized my pantry and refrigerator, and tackled the desk. The desk in my kitchen seems to be the parking place for all mail, magazines, etc. I cleaned it all up, paid the bills, and balanced my checkbook. I feel lots better not having to look at that mess!

Going out for Chinese with some friends tonight. My best to all!

Juli

Sounds like you had a great day Juli.:) (Topping it off with Chinese Food is even better.)

Great news! The Slim Series came today!! I just finished "Tear It Up" which was tough! It reminds me of FIRM Volume 1 or Cardio & Weights - sort of an overall workout with weights and cardio. I just jogged through the weights because I did Pyramids yesterday. I can't tell which ones in the series have the most cardio (for cardio days) but I'll figure it out.

DH is on call tonight but wants to "risk" going out to a movie. (The last time we did that, he got called into the hospital and I watched the movie alone then drove myself home!)

Hi All -- What a great weekend it has been here in Cincy. Great day to weed my garden and the landscaping. Takes me a couple of hours.

Afterward did Core Cardio 2 -- had to get in another cardio for the week because of the SELF Challenge. My DH and I are going out to play 9 holes after we grab an early dinner.

Fitdoc -- The Slim Series sounds great. I really like the FIRM classics and like the "class" format. I've bought some new DVD's recently and they're good, but both are just the instructor. Great for watching form, not so good for energy. I think the class format is just more invigorating.

Where is everyone??? Out enjoying this gorgeous day, I hope.

My best to all --

Juli

Hi!
Hope everyone is doing great.

Fitdoc and Juli, thanks for asking about my little DS. He is doing better and playful as usual, thank goodness.

Fitdoc, many congrats on starting your fellowship. You are amazing! My DH is a ped. ED doc. So glad you got your Slim series. Please do tell us how you like or dislike them as you explore them.

Big, warm hellos to all my friends.

I did the "tone it up" and Lotte Method today. Tonight I want to do some rebounding because it energizes me so much.

Please take care and have yourselves a great day.
