Hi ladies,
May I start the week's post?;)

Thinking of all of you strong, stress-hardy ladies, I like to quote from one of my favorite books: "Full Catastrophe Living", by one of my favorite mentors Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.

".... According to Dr. Kobasa, stress-hardy individuals show high levels of three psychological characteristics: CONTROL, COMMITMENT, and CHALLENGE. People who are high in CONTROL have a strong belief that they can exert an influence on their surroundings, that they can make things happen. This sounds similar to Dr. Bandura's notion of self-efficacy. People who are high in COMMITMENT tend to feel fully engaged in what they are doing from day to day and are committed to giving these activities their best effort. People who are high in CHALLENGE see change as a natural part of life that affords at least some chance for further development. This view allows stress-hardy individuals to see new situations more as opportunities and less as threats than might other people who do not share this orientation toward life as an ongoing challenge."

I am in a major time crunch. I’ve got to get an abstract together by Friday - I still haven’t analyzed the data! Eegads!! This is a Challenge I am committed to Conquering in a Controlled manner, of course!

Great topic, Bita! Tonight was Yoga night (Forward Bends). Wish I had more time but it's one of those crazy days that just spilled over into the evening. Yoga's good on those days.

Wicked cold last week but feeling better now. Today was the first day of work out - Did PH (but lighter on weights)

It is going to be 80 tomorrow in MA - YIPPEE

I never got that running thing down as I got sick. Sunday my daughter went for 6 miles... 3 is more like it for me and since I had been sick had an excuse.

Sigh - nothing on the job front - another nibble though - so that is good but the pay was below what we could live on (really) it was not for profit organization. Sad they pay so low when they do such good stuff. Was very sad I couldnt make ends meet on it.

Great topic! I need to get a handle on all of the above. Need to learn to delegate more! That's hard for me.

I bought Firms Lower body/Upper body split tape combo. I did the Lower body split this AM OMG!!!! What a hard tape. It's OVER AN HOUR long and the lunges and squats just go on forever LOVED IT!!! Hope I can walk tomorrow.Don't know why I never ordered these before. I thought they were the short (Less than 40 minutes long) tapes but each is over an hour and ultra hard for me.

Sure are missing some of our regulars here. WORRIED!! Where's Wildpony?? I didn't get over here much in last few weeks due to heavy workload but hope nothing's wrong with Debbie.

Sorry I've been awol for awhile. Spring break was hectic last week and we have a lot going on at church this week.

Bita, I'm also a Jon Kabat-Zinn fan. I've read about half of "Full Catastrophe Living." He has really taught me how to use my breathing to slow down the world a bit. I love the body scan. I wish all hospitals would incorporate his "World of Relaxation" TV program. I think it could help so many people.

Robyn, glad you're feeling better in time to enjoy your nice weather. You were due for some. Sorry the job offer wasn't what you needed just now.

Janice, good to see you back. You seem to be your bouncy self again.
I think Debbie just needed a little break. I hope she'll check in with us when she's ready.

Juli, I thought about you when we were at the Masters. Luckily, we missed the rain, but not the mud. I had mud splashed all the way above my knees. It was a beautiful place though. Got a great close up picture of Tiger Woods and Arnold Plamer walking together. A little fuzzy, maybe. I'll try to post it later.

Breathe Fitdoc!! You'll make it.

I managed to get in my 5 workouts last week. It took me an 8 day week to do it though. I started this week off with tennis yesterday and 10-10-10 today. It will be a little push to get 5 workouts this week but I'll manage.

Good evening! It's midnight. I had to do one of my late night workouts. 30 minutes of IMAX2.

Robyn, my oldest son is attending Berklee in Boston. He mentioned the beautiful weather today - I'm sure he wasn't playing hookey!;) Still sending good job vibes your way.

Off to get some sleep. I'll have more time after 4/18.

PH today. I'm doing 3 this week and 3 cardio. Sometime I'll get that running routine going!

Janice - How were the after effects of the Firm? Yes thanks I'm feeling better.

Gloria - Yes, BUSY week with Church. I'm helping out for our sunrise service on the lake. Should be nice and hopefully NOT rainy.
Thx for your nice thoughts on the job. All together I've gotten hits from 7 companies in this economy that's really good - so I cant complain

Fitdoc - Berklee is a great school. I take it he is a musician? After the LONG winter I think playing hooky is required at least for one day ;) Thanks for the good thoughts on the job.

Golden Girl - Good to see you! Yep nothing on the job search. Last week a not-for-profit called but I couldnt live on the salary so I said no. Now I'm kicking myself. O well. Another place called on the 1st but the job is on hold (at least it was a nibble)

Kinda cool.. I played the daily lottery for the FIRST time ever and won $50. Nothing big but a nice little treat :)

Well I'm going back outside to enjoy the day!

Volunteer stuff is going well - but I didnt go last week because I was sick so I miss the cats at the shelter - the environmental one is going well - good cause!

I did rebounding and LBM today. Did some swimming too. Yesterday did total body workout (aero-pump) and LBM.

So excited Cathe is making the new tapes for summer! Doing all these different exercises, I think she is one of the best. But I just love variety! ;)

Hi Ladies -- A quick HI! For some reason, this week is gettig so busy. Last night had to make do with a 30 minute walk for my exercise. That's ok, still counts on the SELF Challenge. Tonight I'm going to the driving range for my "extra activity"

Robyn -- Sending you positive vibes in the job market. We're in the same field, and I've noticed that things are slightly improving. Your job will show up. The right job,too.

Hi girls,

A quick check in today. I did MIS this morning. I really like this workout. It moves so fast, I guess I don't have time to think about it. Gotta face LL one day this week. Ugh! That is so tough. I have a new incentive. I booked a cruise yesterday to the Bahamas the end of May. A family thing before summer gets crazy and DS heads off to college. We've never been on a cruise before and are looking forward to it.

Hi All -- Did Vol. 1 with DH tonight. I do that one about once a week, and my tape is beginning to wear. The sound fades in and out in certain places.

Bought a new DVD -- Tamilee Webb's "I Want That Body". I read some good reviews on it. I'll try it out this weekend and let you know what I think. I'm slowly replacing my old, worn tapes (like Vol.1, Boo Hoo!) with DVDs.

The basement is coming along. The framing is done and now they're working on the electrical. It will be awhile before it's finished.

Hope all is well.

Gloria, what a great plan. Sounds fantastic. I know you and you family enjoy the cruise tremendously.

Janice, hi! Lotte Berk is pretty much a style of its own. Some pilates, some callenetics, some yoga, some dance. Lots of contraction and toning and then stretching and elongation. Different than yoga and pilates, but somehow alike. Different enough to worth trying! It works a lot on the lower body and glutes. There is pelvic tuck, that one uses even doing upper body or abs. So the lower body gets a lot of work. To me it is harder that pilates, but not harder than power yoga, yet the moves have helped and stregthen me quite a bit for power yoga. You might want to check some samples of them on the collagevideo.com it might give you some idea what it looks and feel like. If you have more question on it and you think I might be able to help, please let me know.

Hey guys did PH for the 3rd time this week. Really love that tape and for me it works best doing it 3 times for a week or 2. Think I'll do it again next week. Though will be college hunting for a couple of days.

Hey Bita - Thanks for your nice words. Yep believe it or not I use to be highly impatient. I've learned/grown a lot during this time. Too bad we often only learn when things get tough.

Juli - Nice to hear you think things are picking up. Not so here but hopefully soon.

Funny since not working - I've been so good about working out, reading, extra time with kids, involved in the community especially church, animal shelter, environment organization, positive quiet time. Yikes I hope I can keep it up once I do work ;)

Well happy easter everyone! I'm going to be getting up EARLY - working on our sunrise service.

I noticed wildpony hasnt been on in a while? Anyone know how she is?
 
HI! Sounds as if everybody is really busy!

I have to make this quick. This evening's workout was Pyramid Combined Upper and Lower with the portion of ball work and abs from PUB.

This was one of the most stressful weeks I've had in a long time. I submitted two abstracts this evening (without the help from my "mentors" I had anticipated). My "cup is empty" but I've got next week to fill it up!:D Breathing a huge sigh of relief. Take care everybody

Congrats fitdoc on finishing the abstracts!

Beautiful day today in MA. After the winter we REALLY appreciate it! Tomorrow is our sunrise service on the lake - should be really nice. My son is paddling accross in a canoe and a lantern should be really nice!

Imax today. Just LOVE that tape :)a nnnnnnnnnnn

Prom shopping is done and got my son a nice blazer for confirmation. Gosh I've never shopped so much for bargains. Got some good ones!
