Tracey Staehle or Amy Bento kickbox

Hello everyone,

I am looking for more kickboxing workouts that are like Cathe's KPC or Kick Max. I read some threads about other instructors and it seems these two come highly reccommended. I would like your opinion on two workouts in particular.

I do not have enough space in my room, so I don't want a workout that requires space; something similar to KPC's moves is best. So out of these two, which one uses the least amout of space but still high intensity and burns the most calories?

Tracey Staehle:
High Intensity Kickbox Challenge
Cardio Sweatfest

Amy Bento:

Kickbox Extreme

I might get one from each instructor but leaning more towards Tracey's Cardio Sweatfest HIKC. Out these two which has the most kickboxing moves?

Yen

Tracy's moves are probably more technically correct, but her KB workouts are kind of wimpy. I think this depends on what you really want from the workout--if you want a serious calorie burner go with Bento. If you want something light w/good form go w/Staehle.

Your statement that you don't have a lot of space in your workout room tells me that Tracey's Cardio Sweatfest would work well for you. It is what I would consider a true boxing workout. She doesn't throw in jumping jacks or other aerobic moves. She focuses on boxing/kicking combinations. You don't use a lot of space for the workout. HIKC is more of an aerobic workout and has less of the boxing moves because of the cardio thrown in.

I personally love Amy's Kickbox Extreme but she does move you around a good bit. It is more of an aerobic/calorie burner as well.

Hope this helps!

I like Tracey's better--Amy's is too much like a hi/low workout with poor form. Tracey and Cathe are more comparable to me.

I understand why some may like Tracey's dvd, but I find it extremely repetitive and boring, and there is no cardio factor in it whatsoever for me. Her form has improved tremendously, but there is no content to equal something along the lines of CK, KPC or KM.
The other workout on the dvd is one of the poorest attempts at a dancy hi/lo workout that I have ever seen. Terrible cueing, and Tracey just does not look comfortable doing dancy choreography at all. I honestly question how Greg was willing to tape that piece.
I know I seem opinionated, but I am a dancer and have alot of experience to make this kind of call.

Amy's kickboxing is more like a hi/lo workout with some kickboxing moves thrown in for a different flavor. I like this one for it's variety and content, and it has a much bigger fun factor for me. It takes up more space, but modifications can be made in that department.

Jillybean, you didn't mention that you were in Tracey's Sculptfest dvd. You really looked great!

Hello
have you ever heard of powerstrike. they are pure kickboxing and Ilaria has perfect form. Powerstrike 1 & 2 only comes in VHS. They are considered the most intense. You can view the 4th one on collagevideo.com She does have a website powerstrike.com. Also Kimberly Spreen has a fun kickbox video out Absolute Kickbox or something like that and I think it's terrific. It has combat drills which are alot of fun.

Of the two you mentioned; Amy's is fun but more hi/lo with some kickbox moves added and it does take up alot of space. And Tracey's is more kickboxing .

I recently got both of these dvds and I love them both! I agree with the others in that if space is a big issue I would go with Tracey's. Amy's is more aerobically challenging and has a terrific fun factor. IMHO you can't go wrong with either:)

I'm not a dancer but I agree with your post 100%. I was going to try and do the kickboxing from Cardio SF one more time before putting it on my trade list but I have not been able to talk myself into doing it again. I gave the hi/lo two tries but it just didn't click with me and I usually like latin flavor syle workouts. I have Cardio SF on my trade list. I love Amy's KBX which as others have said is more of a hi/lo with kickbox flavor but the cardio factor is there and the music is very motivating. Amy's premixes are another plus and KBX has some core work. I do have to modify one of the combo's in KBX for space and Tracey's Cardio SF uses absolutely NO space (except for the hi/lo, which I found hard to modify to fit my sapce). I do enjoy HIKB for a lighter and shorter cardio day. Good luck with your decision! Finding new instructors to enjoy is fun. I have branched quite a bit and added some fun , tough, new workouts to my collection in addition to my Cathe's.

I do LOVE Tracey's HISM if you want an awesome, fun step workout.

We are all so different! I love Tracey's Sweatfest kickboxing, but I don't care for Amy B's Kickox Extreme. I feel I get a much better workout with Tracey's than Amy B's. I feel Tracey's is closer to Powerstrike than any other kickboxing workout out there. It does have a drill-like quality, but that's what really seems to tone me. I use 1 1/2 lb. hand weights, so that influences my workout intensity. I feel that the choreography in KX reduces rather than increases intensity. I love most of Amy's other stuff, so it's not that I don't like her as an instructor. I just didn't like KX. Just another opinion.

Thank you ladies. Your suggestions have been great.

I did read about Powerstrike and I think I will buy Ilaria's workout instead.

I saw this Hardcore Kickbox Circuit with Janis Saffell on collage video as well and the preview looks tough. Does anyone have this workout?

I personally don't care of Janis Saffell's kickbox at all. I have a hard time getting my heart rate up. I can't remember if I own the particular one you mentioned. I will have to go downstairs and look but I've tried several of Janis Saffell's workouts when I've found them at Ross.
