Too many fitness magazines?

Does anyone else think there are too many fitness magazines out there these days? A few years ago there weren't enough. Now it seems like there's a new one everytime I look. And I'm hesitant to buy some of them because there are always a few articles promoting a product that the mag publishers own. I could spend $30 a month on these mags.

What are your fav magazines?

I like Fitness since it's simple to read and not full of diet pill ads and bodybuilder info.

But I also like Oxygen and Muscle&Fitness for Her because they give more advanced workout info. I don't think I could ever follow a diet in these mags because they're so strict. Also, the pics on bodybuilders aren't appealing to me (just my opinion). Don't they understand that constant tanning makes them look aged and is destroying their skin??

I used to like Shape or Fitness but they are all so chock full of "beauty" crap. Just give me good fitness information. I hat having to cut through all the crap to get the good stuff.

I hate those magazines that advertise supplements on every other page. I know some people swear by 'em but I wonder really.

So, yeah, I think there are too many fitness mags out there.

I'm ready to take the next step! http://www.smilies-world.de/Smilies/Smilies_klein_1/a_smil09.gif

Can I add I do love Fitness, Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness Hers yes I agree with the model thing and the supplements in Oxygen and Muscle and Fitness hers are wayyyy over the top (please read the disclaimers).

But for the fact that do give great exercise and nutrition (again a little to strict for me but in Jan I may need to use them)I will let that go.

I dropped Ultrafit as they did a yukkky interview with Kylie and I found so for me it lost a lot of creditability. But seeing as I don't read womens mags these will do fine.

I use to buy M&F Hers, Shape, Fitness,Oxygen and Muscle Media. I found that when it came to tossing stuff out, it was Muscle media that I ended up keeping. I like the recipes because they were easy to make and they didn't have all those awful hydroxycut adds. granted they have EAS and Myoplex but those aren't as cheesy. But I have to say that after Cathe's cardio and PS series that I haven't bought any fitness magazines. There doesn't seem to be much point.

I have read Fitness, Shape, & Muscle & Fitness Hers. I don't particulary like any of them. I find Health to be a more well rounded magazine, but I don't even read that very often. I find that this forum and Cathe's viedos are enough for me.

I go through spurts where I get so fed up with most fitness magazines that I don't read any of them. They either have too much make-up/beauty/ridiculously expensive clothing articles in them, or they seem sponsored by some supplement company or someone with a definitely skewed vision of what one should do to be fit. At other times, I just can't get enough of the good fitness-related articles (and just ignore the other stuff). I guess my favorite it Muscle and Fitness Hers, which has a good balance, but which, like SOOOO many others, has recently been running those METRX/Hydroxycut "special supplement" 6-8 page ads.
